Hello Sean. If you are not charging any money than no a contractor license wouldn’t be needed. However, in some cases you may want to be sure no permits need to be pulled.

Let’s say I have an Insured junk removal business with all the proper tax and DOT and other license set up, however I do not have a C 21 license could I offer some types of demolition services and charge whatever I want over $500, I know there’s a lot of companies that aren’t licenses that do demo jobs but only as long as it’s not structural and or requires a permit is that true?

Hello EJ. According to the definition on the CSLB website, "A building moving/demolition contractor raises, lowers, cribs underpins, demolishes and moves or removes structures, including their foundations". However, I would 100% reach out to the CSLB for clarification on your specific situation.

@@digitalconstructive5486 Reached out to them they said that I am 100% fine in doing jobs and can charge over $500, only as long as I do not remove anything structural, and also if I pay and register my business with the proper state and local hauling permits Im good to go. However they did mention, I may complete structural jobs that do not require demolition license, only if I work for a licensed contractor as an employee or have a partner in my business that holds a C21 license
