Cool, yeah I've heard from a bunch of different sources.

Is there a reason you're delaying the close mic'd tracks instead of advancing the overheads? The way I'm thinking is that the close mics are the fundament of timing from the sticks of the player. Of course the actual difference is minuscule.

Good point! Don’t have a good answer 😅

Do you always timeallign your tracks, or does it depend?
@hoborec6 жыл бұрын
+DaPhunk73 to be honest, almost never. It was something I experimented with for a while. But now I don’t touch it if I don’t feel something is wrong.

+Jj Jones never tried, but i'm not sure i would pay for a plugin when this is so quick and easy.

I like your videos but I am not backing this technique at all. You are moving mics in time with each other. I think maybe more care in the recording phase would yield a better result. You are removing depth and ambience from your drum tracks. Ugh.

+DarianGTR06 to be honest I almost never do this, because I think it can make things sound "smaller" even though it gets fairly more punchy. But it does work for its thing. It's impossible to get the close mics in phase with the overhead with placement. You can get it in polarity with each other but the first initial transient will always happen at different times if it's not altered in post production.
