I understand this radio has a port for a GPS antenna to plug into. However, I don't see any info about the size of this port. Where can I get the info about it? I have an external GPS antenna that has an SMA connector, so I'd like to know what (if any adaptor) I could get to connect the GPS antenna to this radio.
@HamRadioOutlet2 жыл бұрын
The best place to look for accurate information is in the user manuals on the Yaesu website (bit.ly/3CVUZ5t), or ask Yaesu directly through their support channels (bit.ly/3Mx8awS). I also did a Google search for "FTM-300DR external GPS" and found this page: bit.ly/3sb98FL

About 16 Months ago, I bought an FTM 100 D. The radio itself is fine, but it has issues for me in terms of my Diabetic Eyes, and Aspergers Syndrome. So I am selling the FTM 100. When that deal is done, I probably WILL get a new 300.

Hi Bruce, sorry to hear about your eye issues. Hopefully the FTM-300DR display will work better for you.

@@HamRadioOutlet THANK YOU for the nice reply. I think, based on the reviews I've seen that the 300 MAY be easier to program and operate than the FTM-100.

Nice presentation Katie. Shame Yaesu punted on memory management, and had to disable the touch screen display (which is the same on FT3D). The 3D screen dumps noise into the receiver. Please do another review when Icom makes their next D-Stat rig announcement. Hope the Icom rig will be produced other than in China. Hello to Mom.

The only thing what I do not like, is the SO-239 female connector, bad looses & impedance for over 300Mhz. Why not N-Connector, like in the Europe version in some FT models?

I’m confused. You’re with HRO but live in Wyoming? That’s quite a commute!
@HamRadioOutlet2 жыл бұрын
Katie was the Social Media Manager at HRO until October 2020. HRO has 13 stores nationwide, but we also have a large internet presence. You don't have to work on location at our HQ in CA to do internet work... so her commute was non-existent.

What power supply you use ?
@HamRadioOutlet3 жыл бұрын
The manual says it requires 13.8V at least 15A, so any quality power supply of at least 15A would work. Samlex and Astron both make great 20A supplies. Something like this would work: www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-012070 or www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-004427

skip to 2:30 I will keep my ftm-400, thank you very much, since the 300's screen lacks the visual pleasantness of the 400. If I was to down grade on the next radio I would buy a 'used' ftm-100, If I was to go cheaper, the FTM-100 is a better deal. Unless you run APRS, then buy the FTM-400.

Been trying to figure out where it's made for a week now. Be nice if somebody could give a straight answer. I own 4 Japanese made Yeasu radios and like them all. If 300 is china made, it's about $200 overpriced imho.

KK7ART hey art, we have talked before on the 5.29 repeater. Anyway I’ve seen the sticker on the bottom. It’s China. And yes Yaesu seemed to have raised the price on the 400 to make the 300 look like a less expensive, feature rich option at the cost of killing off the 100.

@forgetyourlife4 жыл бұрын
it is total downgrade. Notice they (yaesu) jacked the 400's price up 80 bucks to cram this into the price point that the 100 was perfectly positioned at.

How so? The only difference is bigger screen on 400
@onemarktwoyou4 жыл бұрын
@@linaskerbelis5636 And the 400 has a touch screen, which by the way is a lot bigger and many more brightness levels. But you even admitted the the 300 and 400 were basically the same with including a comment of a smaller screen, yet you asked 'how so'.
@richardvisokey51844 жыл бұрын
The 300 is not a downgrade of the 400. It's the replacement of the ftm100 and an upgrade from the black and white of the ftm100.
