? How many products would you stick to (and for how long) if you have a niche shop?

You should check your deposit schedule. It may be set to a longer time period that hasn’t hit yet. You can check that in your payment account settings under finance :)

Hi Taylor. I have had a store for 6 months and only made 1 sale. I started with mugs, then candles, then totes and now sweatshirts. I get 0 views. I know it is because there is no branding, different niches, the designs might not be good (I think I am getting better little by little, though). I am not with research either. Everytime I do research, I end up putting up listings where there is a lot of competition. I know I have to learn a laaaat more. My question is, do you think I should eliminate all my 156 listings, bye bye banner and logo and start over? Thank you, Taylor..I love your videos

Hi! I don’t believe you’re getting no views because of branding. Views come from your SEO. I would focus your energy there. Getting rid of your listings and “starting over” won’t change anything if your routines and habits stay the same. You’ve also already spent the listing fees for those listings - I’d just focus on optimizing them/improving them. What I recommend is dive into research and SEO. There are tons of free resources online to show how to identify the right types of keywords you can target as a new seller to increase your visibility. I hope this helps and gives some clarity to where to focus! Thank you for watching the video 😀

Hey Taylor, I started in POD in Sept 23 and I now have made about 350 sales, almost all of which are a 'Your Text Here' shirt. Other than this, I have 400 listings including primarily shirts and sweatshirts but also about 100 ornaments and perhaps another 50 or so assorted candles and blankets + a couple mugs and tote bags. I guess I have done this all wrong. I wanted to have a general store so I could figure out which niche would work for me. Identifying a niche has been the one thing about POD that just seems to alude me. Since I still have not determined a niche and feel like I'm no closer, should I just stick with shirts and sweatshirts and keep going? I don't want to give up ornaments because I started with them in Sept 23 and made 60 sales in Q4. Sooooo confused! I am a subscriber and have watched every one of your videos - TWICE - since I found you in November of 23. I'm not sure you actually answer questions via comments but thought I'd give it a try.

Hey! Having sales is definitely a different starting place. For a brand new shop with no sales, just beginning, I recommend having a focus. That focus being either a product and designing for multiple niches OR a niche and designing for multiple products. This is the strategy I recommend from a data perspective, it’s MUCH easier to analyze the data and grow when there is a constant variable in place. Having too many niches AND products with no sales (the mistake I see many new sellers make) is really difficult to assess and make a strategic game plan for growth. It’s kind of the “throw the spaghetti at the wall” mentality, seeing what sticks. If you already have had sales - you have data to go off of. An existing shop with sales, can be a bit more diluted in their focus because they have data driving the decisions and aren’t creating with “hopes” something works but instead are creating based off proven sales. I hope this makes sense! There isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ for everyone which is why I have my mentorship group because every individual seller can’t all do the same thing and expect everyone to see the same results. It has to be data driven, which always is gonna vary from shop to shop.

@@TaylorPOD You know Taylor you are such a knowledgeable mentor which is crazy given how long you have been doing this but I gravitated to you because you approach things from a different place. I would love to see you put out a video ( or a set of videos for a one-time price) where you go over how to look at data on things like what I have listed above and pull the RIGHT data to make decisions. You MUST have had a background in SEO and merchandising in the past, if not, you are just a savant! Lucky for us! Thank you for taking the time to answer my very convoluted question. I'm team Taylor for sure!

One thing I have noticed is the sheer volume of content that is blatantly stolen. It makes it hard to see if it is one store opening other stores to resell the same thing as a false competitor or if people are just ripping each other off. For example if you type 'couple hoodie' into Etsy you see an entire page of an identical sweatshirt design with roman numerals on the chest and an initial with a heart on the sleeve. This is peppered with obviously stolen IP from Spiderman and Lilo and Stitch and Nike. It feels odd that despite how blatant it is Etsy doesn't seem to be doing anything about it. I thought it was funny at least.

I sell mostly phone cases with my niche, but I have also received purchases from mugs and shirts. I just started blankets because they have a higher volume search and I was told to place your best sellers on more products

Everyone’s going to have different things that work for them! I’ve found the most efficient way to grow is by having a specific focus whether that be a product type across multiple different niches OR a niche spread across multiple different product types. 😀 Always do what’s working for you!
