Great video... The problem will always be the experience aspect. Jobs are hard to come by, even more so in heavy industry. Im sitting at a desk in a consulting firm and I'm watching time pass bye

Mondli Tenza It's such a catch 22.. business want experience.. but any have it unless they provide it.. I've seen a couple of people venture out into their own businesses.. with a skills starved economy like ours.. and opportunities for development in the rest of Africa.. I wish we could all start something that will blow the world's mind!

Hi please I need some clarity on GCC. I have a trade test in mechanical but didn't obtain Vai apprenticeship but vai section 26D . Is there a difference there. And also, do we really need technical diploma?

If you already have your BTech in Mechanical, is it vital to have some Electrical engineering modules as well??

Not really? You dont have to register to study them. You will have to read up on them and gain exposure at work as well. Remember you would have done elec in year 1 and 2.. inducation motors, wiring, Sans codes and transformers are important..

No, you would then be suitable for Electrical Ticket. You will have to know some mechanical principles though

I am currently studying my N.dip Mechanical, its 6 semesters, 4 semesters theory and 2 semesters in-serving traing. So for me to apply with the DOL i need two years experience. So does my 1 year in service training count?

hmmm it also depends on the type of work you were doing. Rather be sure you are fully covered and ready- massive responsibility!

Hi Ronald.. there shouldn't be an issue as long as the qualification is SAQA accredited.. so you still get the same NQF level for the syllabus. At the end of the day, what matters most is what you do with the qualification and the experience you gain..
