Baldur's Gate 3 is a 2023 role-playing video game developed and published by Larian Studios. The game is the third main installment in the Baldur's Gate series, based on the tabletop role-playing system of Dungeons & Dragons. Baldur's Gate 3 has single-player and cooperative multiplayer elements. Players can create one or more characters and form a party along with a number of pre-generated characters to explore the game's story.

38:02 There are lots of ways people can become tieflings. But the bottom lime is tieflings are not demons or devils. They are human that have inherited devilish traits. The most common way to be a tiefling is to be born one. Someone in their family made a deal with a devil and later down the line, their kids, grandkids etc are now cursed to resemble devils. The price of an ancestor celling their soul. But since tieflings look like devils, people tend to be racist towards them. And you will see it in this game.

Tieflings are so interesting so far. Looking forward to learning more about their lore as we go forward. In the character creation they seemed to be one of the most unique races in the game.

just so you know astarion tends to dislike actions like helping people out of kindness and stuff like that. if you intend to be good and have him in your party, you'll see that pattern a lot, esp in the early game. but you can still get high approval with him by being supportive of him and his wishes, basically. so dont let that discourage you!

You took Tactician AND Dark Urge for your first playthrough. Very unusual choice, but I'm all here for it! You also missed a squirrel you could talk to lower on the mountain where the Bugbear Assassisn was. Hope you talk to it later. You can also reach it with an elevator from the druid part of the grove.

If you see 'survival failed' randomly appear like in 12:08 thats mean there is probably chest buried nearby. You can try to dig it out with shovel. Just click use on the shovel in the inventory (you can find shovel near the potions bar at bottom of the screen) and somewhere on the ground.

regarding selling in batches rather than single one-at-a-time; open your inventory while you are not talking to anyone, select multiple items (shift-click will select areas of items) and right click the multiple item set to "set wares". -- then when you sell, you can select "sell wares" in the bottom middle of the vendor screen to sell it all at once. its much easier to manage inventory outside of the actual vendor screen. Also, it is not obvious, but you want a character with high persuasion (normally highest charisma on team) to actually be the one to talk to vendors; you get better prices both for selling and buying. you can see the %bonus or %penalty in the bottom right of the vendor screen.

once you miss out or skip some dialogues with certain party members you can try talking to them with different person to maybe get them again... doesn't always happen but sometimes it does :)

another HUGE episode love it. you're getting hand of things :) Astarion is MVP I always have him in my party! Make sure you check every little corner of groove even what looks like exists might not be. those glitchy textures yeah they happened in latest updates. I found it made it little better when I changed down texture quality from ultra to high, and turn on "slow hdd" option in video settings, even tho my disk is deff not slow.. it's just smth Larian has to fix. Good news is they are constantly working very hard on new updates.

P.S. using one teammate to enter dialogue while pickpocketing with Astarion is a good idea in general, and feel free to practice sneaking and streaking with him around the grove but make sure you're hidden and not in the red... BUT, and this is my biggest advice... make sure you spam quicksave a lot before you try to steal things! NPC's are smart sometimes even crouching down and sneaking will make them suspicious and follow you. I got caught so many times and lost it all lol.

Astarion is MVP big time in these last few fights lol he hits like a freaking truck now with Assassin. I'm gonna check all over the grove for sure I kind of wanna see if I can get all the loot around and about with out getting caught but we shall see as im a terrible rogue lol. The texture issue is interesting I feel like it will work its self out with patches I hope but my C drive is my SSD I could always just uninstall and reinstall on that. Using people as a decoy is interesting its a tactic I use in upcoming EPs but does it fully work lol we shall see.

Make sure to check which spells require "concentration". You can only concentrate on one concentration spell at a time and taking damage can end it. For example "witch bolt": as long as you concentrate on it, you can recast it each turn for free. Oh and holding "shift" normally reveals enemy sight lines but you might have rebound that. Check the keybinds.

yeah concentration is a interesting thing for the game I really need to check and see if we have any I don't think I have any equipped atm but I will be deep diving a bit into build more when I respec some of the companions but even so I need to get some on board for the squad.

Since you seem to be a lore appreciator, I'd recommend looking up Elturel on the Forgotten Realms wiki and browsing through it. In the broader D&D world there were some recent events (specifically detailed in the tabletop adventure "Decent to Avernus") that happened shortly before BG3 takes place that play a pretty big background role in what is happening and why. Some of the stuff is briefly mentioned in BG3, but a lot that just seems like flavor text and filler dialog will take on a lot more meaning if you have some knowledge of recent events in the world.

Oh so "C" is a quick way to use sneak as an *action* if you wanna use it as a *bonus action* you gotta select from the cunning action hide button on the bottom. That'll let you use an action to attack while hidden.

yeah its easy to confuse them.. sometimes you use C or whatever your shortcut it to hide automatically, but that uses up your normal "hide" and uses up your action, not bonus action, so you can't attack after that... still happens to me often lol

Loving this playthrough very much. You can outline/highlight enemies and allies if you have trouble spotting them in terrain by toggling it on/off with the tilde (~) button, unless you remapped that key too. Make sure you talk to all the squirrels!

If a target stands next to a character you can deal sneak attack damage. Texture problem started happening with the latest update hope theyll fixe it soon

Yeah the texture problem is weird I've never had the issue before with newer games and on my end I got the most optimal settings for FPS and looks. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Not sure if anyone's let you know but can send things, Items, camp supplies, ect, back to camp and itll stay in you Travelers Chest. The Travelers Chest is the only crate that follows you to different camp sites. If you leave your items in a box around camp and then camp at a different location it you may lose those items. Also sending things back to camp that you dont need that the moment will help reduce bag weight. What like to do is just loot every thing, if i need it I keep it in my main bag, if I dont i send it back to camp so i can just sell it all later. Enjoying the game play so far, hope you're enjoying the game!

4:34 just started the episode but have to say damn Astarion, this is why I love rogues yeah he is indeed a badass I love those backstabs 😆 interested to see how you'll play him as assassin. I was so torn between choosing "assassin" or "thief" subclass for him. in the end I went with thief because he gets additional bonus action so he gets action, plus two bonus actions every turn.. and he can dash or hide twice, or even attack twice if you dual wield him, once with main hand once with off hand. so it's supper powerful. but I'm glad you chose assassin so I'll see the other option too :) either way I really feel both of those pure rogue classes suit him much more that that arcane one he gets by default. I played him as "arcane trickster" for couple of hours and it was meh... like he's trying to be both mage and rogue but not that good at either...

Im actually liking the sound on Thief better because it might be better for my play style with him but I'm definitely going to give Assassin a go for awhile. the hardest part for me so far (other than getting a hang of the stealth mechanics) is choosing specs on level up. there is such an overwhelming amount to choose from. how will I know if I'm making good selections? but I love it. bring on the complexity and options. we'll master it all in time!

It truly is overwhelming but I'm loving the challenges. I've played alot of hack and slash and shooter games in my life but never a turnbase game. But lemme tell you I think this may be my new favorite genre of gameplay. It's so enjoyable and engaging. Love the joy of just trying new builds and seeing if it works. you seem to be struggling with understanding the rogues cunning:hide its exactly the same as normal hide only it uses a bonus action (orange triangle) instead. this means astarian can hide using the bonus action to gain an advantage, therefore meaning it can use the higher damaging sneak attacks on the same turn, you should never be using the normal hide on a rogue. i hope this clears things up for you

"I guess you're not successful? What happened?" You walked in the mud which is difficult terrain. Difficult terrain halves your movement speed so you couldn't make it into melee range.

Lae'zel is my bae, she's hard to get at first but if you give her a chance she has one hell of a character arc . Oh and by the way I've been hypnotized by your Mass Effect playthroughs so watching your play BG3 has been very interesting. Advanced tip for selling: sorting through your inventory with ctrl click or shift click and right click add to wears. The above can be used to move stuff between companions. In a shop, wears can be sold with the "sell wears" button. Items not in the wears option, but you want to sell them: switch to barter, shift/ctrl select the items and dragg them to the barter window. I'll be asding these mechanics as we go through the game😉

Strong characters like Ari or Lae'zell can jump very far. If you jump to get near to enemies {instead of dashing) you can still attack. Dash=action (green) Jump=bonus-action (orange)

With the vendors generally try to buy all the unique items that could potentially be of use because they're accessible only from one vendor. You can use shift or ctrl to select multiple items to sell or you can add them to wares from inventory beforehand to sell by clicking one button at the bottom "sell wares". Or you can double click on an item to sell it instead of using context menu. Also majority of NPCs has not one line of response but two if you click on them again - I missed a lot of lines because I didn't know that for the first 100 hours or so. Yes, ~172 hours of dialogue and cutscenes in this game.

@@Bowskii it's more than that. Some descriptions are shortened, showing a "..." and you can T to expand the full text. Also, it lets you hover over and see descriptions of keywords. For example "Charm Person": it says it gives you "advantage" on certain rolls. If you T to inspect Charm Person, you can then hover over the word "advantage" to see what that is and so on.

I didn't think of steal the coin from her on my playthrough, but I do know people had tried doing things like that on other characters and the NPCs even have some special dialogs when they realize the been robbed, wonder what she had to say if you stole the coin from her and then you request it.

you can do turn base in real time when your out in the world :) theres a button where you end turn normally.. hover over it and it should tell you that you can use turn base in the world ( city or forest = as example)...

I definitely laughed at you being so proud of puck picketing Laezel, you should live a little and pick the occasional audacious conversation option, let those dark urges flow :) Love seeing the npc interaction, the vast majority of npcs, animals, and corpses have unique dialogue and are all worth interacting with. Besides that Warlocks are balanced around Eldritch Blast being yheir bread and butter, they get less spell slots but eldritch blast is better than other cantrips like firebolt and sacred flame to make up for it. Last advice classes generally get their big power spike at level 5 so multiclassing before then will be rather sub optimal, of course Bard is a sweet class all its own so maybe swap to bard for a bit to give it a try, doot doot magic flute. Last last advice, after paying withers to respec or revive you can just pick pocket your gold back and he wont care. Overall not really a big deal because gold flows in this game but early on while funds are tight can let you experiment a little more

You can collect explosive barrels, send them to camp via right-click, and then you can plant them somewhere, 10, 20, 30, even 40 barrels, to create total massacre! Maybe for REALLY hard fights, with a LOT of targets..

Id love to do that but how does it work exactly. It says one save. But can you save more than once like quick save your progress so you can leave the game and such. Or is it just all saves you can do but I'd you get downed and killed the save is gone?

@@Bowskii In honor mode you can literally get a permadeath, a real "game over". Literally lose a game and having to start completely from scratch. if your entire party dies in a fight it's game over, that playthrough is over, and fights are really hard. the one save works like this... it saves your progress when you are exiting a game, where ever you are as long as you are alive obviously. Next time you load the game for new session that save gets instantly deleted... you keep playing and make a new save again when you're done. you keep playing and saving as long as you are alive. but if you die it's all gets deleted. you cant continue where you saved last time. In practice of course people can get around it and cheat by making a save in game, and making a backup of that physical save file. than if they die they can at least load that save back into game documents folder and start from there.. so I assume many are cheating honor mode like this already and the achievements don't impress me. basically you can still savescum you just can't do it inside the game menu, you need to do it by physically copy pasting that single save file back and forth on your PC. but difficulty wise it is even harder than tactician.

I think you dashed when raging and you should just try to attack after you rage to keep raging. The dash i think ended up shutting off your rage.

So not only are you robbing refugee's with little to their name but if you'd just been honest to that woman she'd have given you the soul coin as a reward. No spoilers but be sure to thoroughly explore every area you find as there can be subtle easy to miss side sections. There's one area off the grove I've yet to see any streamer find much less explore. With speak with dead once you've cast it once and have it as a "recast" option the corpses that will have dialogue generally glow green. If you have to cast it rather than recast it though they wont. See how Kannon was glowing green while the goblin leader wasn't since you had the recast option.

lol so terrible we done saved that poor women then attempt to rob her blind lolol. this game is crazy as hell and i love it. I will def be going around exploring this area as best I can for sure. Talk to the dead is a crazy cool feature I'm glad they put it in the game and glad we got that necklace we can use it pretty much all the time that's awesome.

@@Bowskii Like I said if you can get ahold of talk to animal potions use them and talk to animals like you did to the Oxen. Also when I said there's an area of the grove no streamer I've watched has found/explored that does include you so far.

I'm not sure if you'll see this, but it's definitely worth looking into the history of the drow and Lolth especially, since there are quite a few references to the race within the game and knowing the story behind them helps add a ton of context. The very very basic story is that Lolth was once a lesser goddess of the moon/dark elves, led an uprising against the sun elves with her worshippers, and was then stripped of almost all of her divinity and turned into a spider demon. She still rules over a vast majority of the drow in the underdark, and the ones who follow her are known for being cruel and bloodthirsty, especially toward sun elves, and Lolth made sure that all of her followers have red/pink eyes so that anyone who sees them knows to fear them on sight. The Seldarine drow are the ones who rebel against Lolth and everything she stands for, but it's almost impossible to tell based on appearance alone aside from the eye colors, which is why you got the dialogue telling the tiefling boy about your eye color being different. Wiki pages that are specifically for The Forgotten Realms won't include spoilers for the game, or at least I haven't seen any after looking through multiple pages because I find the drow fascinating. Also, a cool little detail they added: if you were playing a cleric, you would be able to worship any deity besides Lolth, while Lolth-sworn drow can only worship her

I really would love to read about the Drow via game books that's would be so awesome. I never mind going to the Wiki to learn stuff if the game never touches on it and its spoiler free but I would love to just sit back and read the book on camera to discuss it. But so far what we know about the Drow they sure are interesting probably one of the most interesting races with Githyanki.
