NEWBIE QUESTION: This tech talk is 100% new to me. I'm just a standard consumer with Ring, ADT Hik CC cams, and now Google Home Nest cams. My goal is to get them all into one app on my phone, on one screen on my Mac Studio M1 computer screen, and on my Firestick ( if possible). 1. Is this possible? 2. Will my Mac Studio be the only computer I need? 3. Will my Mac Studio always have to stay in to work?

You’ll need a machine that stays powered on to run Scrypted. So if you run it on your Mac then yes it will need to stay on.

Hi ! I have a little question, I bought a Ring doorbell recently and before send it back I need to know if I could fix his principal default with your solution. At my home I frequently encounter internet loss for entire days, so since this doorbell do not work at all without internet connexion, I stay days doorbell-less at home ... and this is unacceptable to me. With Scrypted will my doorbell will continue to work in case of internet shutdown ? I mean locally, with my Scrypted server and my dedicated iPad connected on the same network ?

No it won’t as scrypted connects via the ring servers over the internet. Hope this helps!

Hi Mark, very nice tutorial and I got this up and running. The only thing I can’t get to work is the motion sensor and the recording when motion is detected in my homeapp. Did you got this to work. My ring app does record at motion. Thanks a lot.

Hi! One thing i need to correct in the video is that if you enable rebroadcast the camera will stop detecting anything. Try disabling it and see if the camera starts working again

I found the solution. You need to enable the required notification in the Ring App Smart Alert settings. Turn on alerts for person only or for movement or both. This will trigger the motion detection in the Ring plugin. As soon as it is enabled, Scrypted log shows motion events and the motion detector in Homekit will be triggered and can be used for automations. To avoid that the iPhone will notify on any motion event, it is NOT necessary to disable the notifications on iOS level; just go into the camera setting (Ring App, devices, chose device) and disable the general motion notification slider button (above the live-view button). Rebroadcasting is not an issue, I have his plug-in turned on.

Followed your tutorial successfully! Great video! All my ring cameras are in Scrypted and in HomeKit. I have turned on activity notifications, allow screen shots, etc but I’m only getting text notifications? I randomly get the odd one notification with thumbnail? I’m running a Raspberry Pi 4 with 4GB. Is there anyway or settings that will show notifications from my ring cameras with thumbnails (rich notifications) really hoping will be able to assist, thank you.

Great Video. I was able to integrate a Ring doorbell pro and 2 flood lights, but I can't get to live view? Any ideas? They all show the preview on the HomeKit preview, but once you click into it, it times out.

It should just work out of the box. Make sure you don’t have re-broadcast enabled

Nice video, have you ever come across the prebuffer getting stuck in live view where it keeps refreshing every 10secs which also stops it from picking up any motion though everything is setup correctly with no notification on Apple TV?

You need to disable pre-buffer as it’s a cloud camera it interferes with the motion detection

@@FlyingFlynn95 nice one, it was a push but I got through it and started turning off stuff that being one of the settings. Just need the motions to work better now as still it detecting every even nor am i getting notifications on the Apple TV

Thanks for the video, I have a question, the scripted login into Ring seems to only remain active for a few hrs after which another 2FA needs to be entered. I saw on home bridge you use a refresh token instead, but Scrypted doesn’t seem to have a place for such credentials. Is there any other setup that must be done to remain authenticated?

Hello, great tutorial keep up the great work! I was wondering If you knew how to speed up the load times? Takes ~8 seconds which isn't long but I'd definitly like for a faster load time.

What hardware are you using? On my Intel Core i5-6500T (skylake) server it's instant. It's not recommended to run on anything less than a pi 4.

Hi Mark, thanks so much for the tutorial! I've been able to follow it up until the IP address part as well. I installed docker to my pi and I have the IP address for those, however I can't get it to work for scrypted. Is there a way around this or maybe I'm looking in the wrong area?

I've had a look and I think it's because my scrypted keeps restarting. I've deleted it and I'm installing again. hopefully that will fix it

@Mark Flynn hey I've managed to get scrypted to work now. it's running however I'm unable to get the right ip for it. will it work under bridge or does it have to be host?
