I drive and practice using a vehicle that has no power steering (old and only thing we have to eat any bumps and scratches!), trying to attempt a 90 degree parallel is absolutely impossible, to pull it off I have no choice but to approach the first step 4:58 already in a 45 degree angle

Its good that people make these videos to help others but if that was parking in between 2 cars you never make it. The DVA should be telling instructors that once their students have successfully parked like this they should be teaching them to park in tighter spots. Driving lessons are costly and for that people should be taught absolutely everything!

I struggle with this. I use the same reference points but it seems in that middle turn of the steering wheel (the 2 turns bit) so much depends on how fast you're reversing and how fast you turn the steering wheel. I get it right 1/2 the time. Other 1/2: hit the kerb or end up 2 feet away. Seems like a narrow window to get it right.
@mw2m1254 жыл бұрын
If your in a different car to him your reference points may be different don’t just guess practice and each time take a mental photo until you finally get it in perfect at that point you’ve found the reference points for you, just use that unless you change cars or seating position and they should not change if your getting to for away or touching it. Then it’s the problem with the last double turn. I use a different method personally but if you follow his then turn twice slightly before to get further away or later to get closer but like I say find the right one and do not forget it.

Are you sure you need to signal because I’ve never been advised to signal while parallel parking by any instructors?
@jakerockznoodles3 жыл бұрын
In a test you probably wouldn't but irl it's good practice if you're, for example, parking in your street and notice cars coming from behind. If you're just stopped and still pointing straight, the cars behind may think you plan to keep moving forward. Indicating left suggests you may be trying to park and they should thus should give you the space to move back. I don't think it's a legal requirement, but especially on narrow residential streets it would be advisable.

when most instructors said u gotta turn full left lock turn until u angle at 45 degree, then stop, straighten and back up. Whereas U said ONE FULL TURN but there is NO REFERENCE point as to how much to turn till straightening, though u said the door handle touches the kerb, which is very confusing and NOT SHOWN visually in this video, if we saw how it looks like "door handle touching the kerb", it would be much easier. Also do u think ONE SINGLE STERRING TURN in ur car matches same angle in every car?

@GetDriving4 жыл бұрын
He is definitely making it far more difficult for you by not letting you use your mirrors. The way he is teaching you will perhaps allow you to develop additional skill, so don't give up on it yet. Perhaps have a discussion about it the next time you have a lesson? Best of luck!
