Thank you for this! It is so tough finding the perfect non toxic containers for our precious children. I do want to point out that acidity foods should not be put in any material except for glass. Metals can leach out of the stainless steel from things like lemon juice or tomato sauce. Which a lot of people don’t know, but it is pretty important, especially if you have a nickel allergy. It’s very hard to find stainless steel containers that don’t have a plastic lid. When the containers are in a child’s lunchbox bouncing around they’re usually not straight up so the food does sit on the plastic cover 90% of the time as they only sit down and eat for 20 minutes out of the half day the lunch is sitting in container. I’m really digging the planet box. Thank you so much for this info. I also wanted to add a tip. I use glass mason jars for certain types of food like acidity foods in my child’s lunchbox. You can buy silicone sleeves off of Amazon that slide right over them and prevent them from breaking. Mason jars are one of the safest materials to keep food in.

Thanks, great video. By the way, plastic is made from petroleum/oil, one of the reasons, we should avoid it, when we want to be sustainable, besides the fact that it doesn t decompose/rot, so it s hard to get rid of, once it can t be used anymore. I didn t know that silicone was different, now I do, so I can look for it if I do need something plastic-like.

That's probably something you would need to ask each company. Every company is different with what they say their products can withstand.

Unfortunately, not all stainless steel is created equally. Some do contain lead. Wish I had a way to test it.

@@robinhood7826 It's never an easy answer. And someone will always find something wrong with one type of stainless steel compared to another. Here's a great explanation of what is used in each type of steel: blog.misumiusa.com/the-battle-of-stainless/ When it comes down to it, if you're not using plastic bags and plastic containers, I'd say you're winning and doing pretty good. Glad you are so concerned and a careful shopper :)
