Having watched Steve Balsamo's version well over a hundred times I was wary of seeing Ian's version on stage but he didn't disappoint. It was so convincing it had me in tears,

Was this at the Lowry? I was there and it wasn’t this guy but his understudy! I was really disappointed when I saw the sign informing us of that, but he was still very good 😊

@@saraslater1166yes it probably should have been Ian as he was Jesus through the whole tour. I'm sure the understudy was amazing though. I sometimes wish I didn't know the original cast as I do feel a bit disappointed. However, understudies are so clever and do so well in the future.

Saw him in cardiff , he blew my mind he was so powerful and talented (probably totally inappropriate to also pass comment that someone portraying jesus is very easy on the eye )

Having revisited this show I can honestly say it was different this time! Almost as if having played this most special of roles for nearly a year has had an impact on him as a person! Gethsemane was no less powerful as the first time but it was also achingly beautiful and thought provoking - it was almost like there was more "Jesus" there! Truly amazing to witness! A wonderful talent!

Balsamo sustains that note/scream on "see how I die" the whole length of the music... that's what makes the song for me as it's an illustration of pain, anguish, perseverance, resilience, strength and the overwhelming inevitability of it all. While Ian McIntosh undoubtably has a brilliant and powerful voice, I didn't feel that extra element of gentleness... something ethereal...that is just present in Steve Balsamo's epic portrayal of what is, let's face it, probably the most difficult "character' of all time to play and give any kind of justice!

His talent is wasted with that director. Making Jesus play the guitar during gethsamane instead of pleading and acting should be a crime

I saw part of it where they had someone dancing to represent Judas’ descent into madness during Judas’ Death… like cmon please, him being alone is 100x more compelling, also as if we couldn’t tell by the performance. It’s such a shame cause the vocals are perfection, but the staging and choreography are totally overdoing it

The choice of having a lot of the actors mime playing the guitar is so weird coz it’s so obvious they aren’t playing
@christinebrett48259 ай бұрын
@@PhasmaniaI felt the person dancing was the devil.... it's how you interpret it I suppose. I still cried all the way through this song but I understand what you're saying. The guitar probably shouldn't have been in it. And there was me thinking the dancer was the devil was pulling Judas in. ...little did I know. Just loved the whole show

I thought there was too much weird dancing but the singing was incredible ❤

I agree, the guitar only worked with Peter. Having Pilate and Jesus randomly play guitar just didn't work especially in this iconic song that really requires no distraction from the torture "Jesus" is going through.
