My friend, I consider myself somewhat of a Gethsemane snob…I’ve heard them all. I always preferred Neeley’s version…but then…I heard you. My god man! You absolutely OWN this song! One of the most difficult songs in stage history, and keep in mind, EVERYONE compares the vocalist to a dozen other versions and you blow past them. The body of your voice, the nuances, your range…and not just because you have a remarkable way of delivering the song, others can hit high notes as well, almost for the sake of hitting the notes…you blew it away because you let us see that you NEED to sing it the way you do so that it touches our hearts and souls. Your vocal range staggers the mind. You are simply incredible…take that from a JCS snob…unbelievable brother!

Oh, Dan. In one song you depict the complexity of what happened at Gethsemane. A man, faithful and aware, but also God. The sometimes dreadful consequences of obedience. Confusion and conviction. Not a manger scene with a plump baby. Crucifixion, physical and mental. All the dashboard crucifixes and glow in the dark crosses have made mockery of it, but it was a bleak and bloody business. The effect of your singing, Dan, is, in a way mystical. mesmerizing. powerful in a way that reaches and grabs the very soul of those who hear you. I dont think I'll see a better performance of Gethsemane. The vocal performance is exceptional, Ive come to expect that from Mr Vasc,..but this is an absolutely poignant Christ,.. a Son, speaking to his Father,.. rebelling, and angry, scared, and yet still trying to please his parent. The juxtaposition of duty and fear, doubt, and even a little self pity,.. were just a perfect blend. The acting expression was, again, precise, amazingly timed, and all done whilst delivering a belter of a vocal. This gentleman just keeps raising the bar...

As someone who grew up with and was deeply moved by the original Jesus Christ Superstar, who knew every song, sang along with and cried along with most of them, and played many on the piano, I am blown away by Dan's performance. I didn't think anyone could sing this song better than Ted Neely, but Dan took it to a new level. Vocally and emotionally, Dan outdid him in every way.

I totally agree!!! I have been following "Jesus Christ Superstar" since I first saw it performed with the original cast in the 70's. You, my friend encapsulated everything Jesus was feeling in that garden that night!!! I have never heard that conversation sung with such emotion, commitment, and anguish as you did! This has got to be the most emotional piece on stage or film ever written. Andrew Lloyd Webber was a master at that. You managed to take my breath away with this, couldn't call it acting - more like you were actually feeling every word you were singing. Just blown my mind. You deserve to be world renowned for your talent and the feelings you envoke in people. Thank you so much x
