Thanks for posting this. Back in the 70s the quartet sang this same title in a much more "straight-out-of-the-hymnal," simplified fashion, with Floyd taking the lead (unusual!) on the verses, and Penny's golden voice added on the chorus. I believe it was the era of Darius and Buddy. Nothing fancy: straightforward, powerful. The focus was totally on the challenging message, free of elaborate instrumentation and creative timing...which, in my opinion, greatly complemented this honored hymn. Though this rendition is amazing, I miss that more unembellished arrangement. 40 years later, and I can hear it perfectly in my memory! Thank you again.

We are thrilled that you are watching and care about the music of The Gethsemane Quartet. Sadly, our great friend and lover of the Word, Darius Stewart, passed in 2018. Buddy Brady and his wife, Kim, are at Winston-Salem and doing quite well these days. I have posted the first three albums ever recorded by The Gethsemane Quartet on this channel. The members are Floyd and Penny Andrews with Bob and Jeanne Johnson and Earl Brewer on the piano and additional vocals. They have some amazing songs and wonderful arrangements. Then, I've posted albums starting in 1981, "A New Day", "Until He Comes Again" and now working on the third album, "Crown Of Rejoicing". I'm going to post them in the order that they were recorded. I'm going to do my best to get albums from the Darius Stewert and Buddy Brady years as possible and post them too. Please know that, every recording reflects the love, discernment and will of Floyd and Penny. The styles may vary a bit but nothing ever went on a Gethsemane recording that they didn't approve of and encourage. As you have said and is true, they are wonderful people, full of the Word and Faith. They affected and infected everyone who knew them and I intend to do my best to honor the memory of these dear friends by helping to make their music live on. Thank you for listening, loving and caring.
