My wife died fifteen years ago in an accident, I'm 63 years old, she would have been 61 years old next April. We are working class Dubliners, but she loved beautiful things and she tried to express that inner feeling and pose it against life's injustices. Instead of posting some words of tribute to her on her next birthday, I am going to play this beautiful, piece of music as a tribute to her memory as it reminds me of the beauty that was inherent in her. Thankyou for putting it up.

Beautiful music. This piece was written by Pachelbel for a wedding (Beethoven's, I think) and fell into obscurity until the early 1970's when it was played at classical San Francisco station and the phones rang off the hook with requests for this magical musical piece. We almost lost this beautiful masterpiece to history

Amedeo De Amicis I stand corrected: are wholly unknown. Hans-Joachim Schulze, writing in 1985, suggested that the piece may have been composed for Johann Christoph Bach's wedding, on 23 October 1694, which Pachelbel attended. Johann Ambrosius Bach, Pachelbel, and other friends and family provided music for the occasion.[4] Johann Christoph Bach, the oldest brother of Johann Sebastian Bach, was a pupil of Pachelbel. Another scholar, Charles E Brewer, investigated a variety of possible connections between Pachelbel's and Heinrich Biber's published chamber music. His research indicated that the Canon may have been

I'm a 60 year old man and I cry EVERY time I hear a string quartet play this song at this speed. There used to be a group of Uni students who used to sit outside Myers in Sydney, (about 30 years ago), and play this song and ONLY this song on Saturday mornings. They would have a violin case open and people would throw in heaps of money. I would always watch them when I was there and I would try not to blubber but when the rising violin bit starts, (I know very little of musical terms), that would be the end of me. I bet JP never thought his littly ditty would live so long.

Simply delightful! These four musicians are the Baroque version of the "fab four." The Beatles will forever be remembered for their soul-stirring harmonies. These women have awakened harmony from their respective strings...They not only interpret Pachelbel but they seem to be able to divine the inner meaning which the great German Baroque composer, a contemporary of Johann Sebastian Bach, was trying to convey. Bravo and Encore!

I have always been into music and growing up with country that is what I played. I played lead guitar and backup singer in a country band when I was young, later I joined a bluegrass band and did that until I was an old man. I always knew I didn't like rock and I never heard music like this until I was an old. One day I was scanning for something to watch on TV; I stopped on a girl singing. When she got through another girl started and that's how Celtic Woman completely captivated me. I started searcing for music like that on KZbin and came up with Secret Garden so I started listening to them and music like that every night and that is how I came across Wedding String Quartet. I just wish I had been introduced to this kind of music when I was young.

I find this piece to be unique in the way that the players seem to fight for the time. There doesn't seem to be a leader presenting a time standard it's almost as if the players are each fighting to dominate the song. This creates a unique listening experience while most sounds so perfect that one might not be forced to pay such attention to every note

I used this (exact copy) & I, too, tear up every time I hear this because I see myself walking down the isle toward the man I will spend the rest of my life with. Thank you so much for giving me the most elegant walk down the isle I could have dreamed of.

Awesome song. Never heard it arranged for a viola in this way! I love the alto sound of that viola.

I was married before to the wrong person, but my daddy walked me down the aisle with this beautiful piece Canon D, by Pachelbel. My daddy passed away, but this song brings me back to that beautiful memory with daddy ❤️
