Now not only do I know what type of hand saws (4) I have, but I know when and how to use them. Thanks, Mitch.

It's also good to mention, that a common beginner error is to press the saw down. It's less work and better cut when the saw glides lightly. The hand pushes only forward.

Absolutely - if it doesn't cut like that then it needs sharpening

Nice video, Mitch. You have explained it very well, even if I do not have Western hand saws. The idea with the clamping Veritas- Collet I find super, I use the for my planer bank. With the crosscut saw like thin strips you can saw with it. With a Ryoba Seiun 300 (300mm blade length) I can saw a strip of 1mm thick from a beam (spruce = 65 mm long x55 mm wide). Greetings Günter

Cheers Gunter. It takes a well tuned saw and a steady sawing action to take thin slices like that - good on you. Japanese Saws next time!
