The reason Bane hates Batman is because when he was growing up in the island prison in South America known as Peña Duro, he was haunted by constant nightmares of a dark demonic bat creature and he believes Batman to be the manifestation of those nightmares and that killing him will rid him of his demons which is why in the game Bane says to Batman "I've long waited for this moment. With your death, I will find peace."

Bane's origin is so complex and interesting especially when you learn he was born and raised in prison his entire life and lived in fear and darkness. He honestly was dealt a terrible hand in life, even before he was born Bane was sentenced to prison while he was still in his mother's womb because of his revolutionary father's actions, watching his mother die in front of him, constantly in danger by other prisoners, put in solitary confinement and almost drowning every night, learning to control his body and mind to achieve peak condition and taking vengeance on the warden that turned him into a monster and took away Bane's innocence.

Shiva and Deadshot are side missions, so don't expect to see them during the cutscenes. Shiva's side mission was available after exiting the bank and Deadshot's side mission was available after exiting the steel mill.

I honestly love the voice performance by both Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker Of course Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are iconic in those roles, but Roger and Troy did exceptionally outstanding performances as well. Troy Baker (aka Joel from The Last Of Us game and MANY other iconic roles) is truly perfect as The Joker in Arkham Origins. His Joker voice, while similar to Mark Hamill’s, is different enough different enough in cadence and personality that it stands on its own. There’s an interview on KZbin where he said he was terrified of taking the role because he himself loves Hamill’s Joker so much, and knows that this is a character you do NOT screw up. Also I love his design in this game. Instead of the debonair pinstripe suit it’s almost a rockstar like look with the leather coat and spiked hair.

And even in TDKR, it’s revealed that Bane wasn’t actually the tactician behind his actions , but that it was Talia, and that Bane was once again reduced to the muscle of a intellectual woman, similar to his role in Batman and Robin. Arkham Origins depicts a younger, early days Batman (year 2), very similar to Robert Pattinson's Batman in The Batman (2022) Both still have a lot of anger that remains not fully resolved hence why they may come off as moody or angsty. And rightfully so, in my opinion. Many iterations of Batman in comics in his early years show him in a similar light. Such comics include Batman Zero Year, Batman Year One and Batman Earth One (which BTW The Batman 2022 drew lots of inspiration from) Batman Arkham Asylum, Arkham City and Arkham Knight depict a seasoned Batman. In Arkham Knight, Bruce is well into his 40s having been Batman for close to 15 years.

Love the more grounded approach to the series in this game, being younger Bruce is a lot angrier, more brutal, he’s not as refined and composed as he becomes in the other games. The villains being less fantastical too, not as deranged or unhinged as they will become. A lot of the characters are very much in their infancy and I find it so interesting seeing their journey, their genesis.

Man, Copperhead was such wasted potential. She was so cool, her design, the way she moves, and personality, but completely disappears after this game. Even Electrocutioner gets a mention in Arkham Knight, and his entire contribution was to justify the new tech for gameplay and a plot point later. Other than that, he’s basically a joke character.

Bane grew up in the horrendous and violent confines of Peña Duro, an infamous prison located in the fictional country of Santa Prisca locted somewhere in South America, and was imprisoned since he was a child for his father's crimes. Bane's father was a revolutionary mercenary who opposed the Santa Prisca government, but was eventually caught and sentenced to life in prison. The man died before his sentence was complete, however, and left his next of kin to be imprisoned instead: Bane. During his years in prison, Bane carries a teddy bear he calls Osito (Spanish for "little bear"), whom he considers his only friend. It is revealed that Osito has a hole in his back to hold a knife that Bane uses against anyone who bullies him. At the age of eight, Bane had committed his first murder with the use of a knife that he kept inside of his teddy bear, Osito, whom he viewed as his one true friend, when a fellow inmate tried to use him to find out information on the prison. Despite his violent surroundings, Bane trained his body and mind to perfection, read any book that he could get his hands on, toned his body in the prison's gym, and even received a classical education from some of the prison inmates, including a Jesuit priest. Due to the cultural and geographical location of the prison, Bane learned a variety of languages, including English, Latin, Portuguese, Persian, Urdu and Spanish. Before long, Bane came to have complete control over the prison population and became its self proclaimed ruler. However, Bane would be plagued by intense nightmares that were centered around a city guarded by a dark and shadowy creature that resembled a bat. The Jesuit priest told him that he dreamed of Gotham, that his father had the same dreams before he died, claimed that their people's destinies would be fulfilled in that place, and how refugees from Santa Prisca helped build Gotham City 300 years ago. Seeking to achieve his own sense of peace and conquer other territories and their population, Bane lusted to escape from the confines of the prison. Bane's ambitions would be set in motion when the prison owners and doctors sought to use him, and recognized his position as the prison's leader among the inmate population, to test out military experiments that primarily dealt with the chemical compound known as 'Venom', which could increase an individual's muscle mass, stamina, durability, and adrenal levels to inhuman levels. Bane was then strapped to a storage unit that pumped the drug throughout his system and, much to the success of the experiment, the Venom was perfectly assimilated into his body. However, Bane used this to his advantage, and violently slaughtered his captors, built up an army of mercenaries from within the prison and escaped with his army in tow, which included Angel Vallelunga, Sergio Ortiz, and Diego Ortiz, who adopted the names of Bird, Trogg, and Zombie, respectively. While having achieved his freedom at last, Bane was soon addicted to the chemical of Venom and would constantly create more batches of the drug to feed his appetite and addiction for it. Before long, Bane began to despise his addiction, saw it as a weakness, and began to track down and slaughter its manufacturers. Despite this, Bane would never break completely free of his addiction. Seeking more challenges to prove his own strength and skill, Bane began to look for worthy adversaries and territories to conquer. After Bane's escape, his actions led to his being listed as a suspected terrorist, as well as a suspected subversive, suspected mass murderer, and suspected drug dealer, as well as being placed on the person of interest watch list alongside presumably other high-ranking warrants, and was also speculated to have suffered from medical psychosis, although he had yet to commit any crimes in the United States. After he heard from his right-hand man, Bird, who had previously worked with the Gotham criminal underworld, that there were rumors of a Bat-like creature who protected the city of Gotham, Bane believed this to be the same creature that plagued his nightmares and that it was fate that he and this 'Bat' creature would meet. Gotham City itself intrigued Bane because, like his previous environment in the prison, Gotham was ruled by fear; fear of the Batman. Bane then made it his mission to not only conquer Batman, but Gotham itself, and build up his own criminal empire to achieve the peace that he had longed for at last. During the "Knightfall" storyline in the comics, Bane, wanting Batman reduced to his weakest physical and psychological state, uses stolen munitions to destroy the walls of Arkham Asylum-allowing its deranged inmates, including the Joker, Two-Face, the Riddler, the Scarecrow, the Mad Hatter, the Ventriloquist, Firefly, Poison Ivy, Cornelius Stirk, Film Freak and Victor Zsasz, to escape into Gotham City. Consequently, Batman is forced to recapture the escapees, a mission that takes him three months and drives him to the brink of mental and physical collapse. Exhausted, Batman returns to his home in Wayne Manor, only to find Bane waiting for him revealing to him that he had deduced Batman's identity. Bane attacks Batman and beats him nearly to death, and delivers a brutal final blow in which he raises Batman up and breaks him over one knee, leaving him a paraplegic. Bane thus becomes the only man to have "Broken the Bat".

Don't know if it's too soon to say, but I wouldn't mind if he filled in for Kevin as well. Watch Batman vs TMNT and you'll see what I mean (if you haven't seen it already). He actually nails both roles as Batman and Joker. That takes some pretty serious talent. I've heard people say that Jensen Ackles is great too, but I haven't gotten around to watching any of the movies where he plays Batman yet. So I can't speak on that part. Of course, Roger Craig Smith did a fantastic job in this game as well.

When Batman would punch a guy there's a would be a weird over the top bounce to the enemies. It was really broken. Plus, this wasn't Rocksteady. This was another WB Studio

Only problem I had with this game's story which is a symptom of a larger issue in general is Joker was the main villain AGAIN!!! Like we had 2 great game's and stories with him being the main antagonist and they KILL HIM which is fine.... but that still doesn't stop him from being the main guy in the next game smh. They go prequel which again was fine I was actually more excited for this game when I saw than trailer than the previous 2! Like "Black Mask? Fawk yeah they rarely dig into Batmans Rogue Gallery which is probably the greatest there is black mask will be a great fresh.... 30min of playing oh wait what? Mask is really Joker pretending to be him FUGG this!" I'm pretty sure that irked me so bad I didn't finish the game it was back when I bought the disc and took it right back to Gamestop didn't matter if they were only giving me $4. I didn't want to play anymore Batman games because they obviously couldn't get rid of their hard-on for Joker i waited a long time before playing Arkham Knight. Wasn't surprised at how "Joker" is handled there but I tolerated it enough. It was just such a let down after seeing Joker is dead and thinking finally another villain will get his/her shine annnd nope. Makes me wonder if they're even capable of writing a story at all that doesn't have Joker whatsoever?

The voice acting is my favorite, even better than marks and kevins OG versions. The more twisted joker and the angry dark gritty batman tone really make it an absolute masterpiece! Idc what anyone says. Storywise Ao is superb and the boss fights are pretty good.

The Joker twist was honestly a pretty good way of establishing how Batman and Joker first started their rivalry in the Arkhamverse and how deep it goes, because deep down the Arkham Quad trilogy has always been about Joker and Batman's relationship. Btw Bane in this game is my favourite depiction of the character in media we've gotten do far at least, as he is truly Batmans intellectual, physical and strategic match and his obsession to defeat Batman to free himself of deep complex fear ever since he was raised in a prison as a child, is such a fascinating dynamic, Bane truly knows how to break Batman.
