Shin Getter Dragon made its gaming debut in the PS1 game, Getter Robo Daikessen! (1999). It was originally a Getter Robo G that was used as the battery for the Getter Emperor and eventually evolved into the powerful Shin Getter Dragon. In 2019, Shin Getter Dragon appears in SRW T for the Switch/PS4.
This Getter Robo Daikessen gameplay video was completely recorded, played and edited (Camtasia Studios) by me, the video footage was recorded from ePSXe.

Oh what nostalgia. Used to play Daikessen back in middle school. The last stage was truly brutal (for the enemies), got to play as Shin Dragon plowing through hundreds of enemies forces. Not to mention with badass OST. Damn what feels.

Oh yeah, looking at the video description above it's since 20 years that Shin Getter Dragon has been debuted in Getter Robo Daikessen and set to appear in the upcoming Super Robot Wars T this year (and 2 months till it's finally released...)

So what do you think of it being used in SRT T? I personally find it's a great idea to provide a new twist to the Getter Robo universe. Plus, I really like the design they gave it when Hayato is in charge. Can't wait to see its form with Benkei in charge.

They can portray young Benkei too. Like he appeared in the first two episodes. Musashi may be a hidden character like in the old games. Anyway, I wouldn't mind at all if it turns out to be Musashi. He deserves to have a prominent role too.

Well the one in Armageddon never separated from its literal dragon half, plus the one in the PV looks practically 1:1 with this one. Specifically speaking, it has the Dragon's infamous "clown pants" i.e. the original design's yellow and purple hip piece, which the Armageddon version had ditched for more palette-conforming red and black, so this shows it isn't even an "Armageddon version" of the mech, and they're straight up giving them this thing.

@@ChReNiC thanks, i hadnt seen the trailer. i just heard about a shin getter dragon so i thought people meant that we were getting the shin dragon from armageddon, because since Z2, thats all getter seemed to be to the creators. so its amazing to see this one. but i wished we had gotten a final dynamic special of mazinger zero, emperor g and SGD. So i was actually hoping we'd get the devolution getter in T but still happy to see ryouma.

I do tried to play this game during my childhood but it was either too hard or I've used to the SRW style or the disk was scratch so much that it have trouble loading. Either way, the opening was kick ass albeit not as rocking as per usual

@@ht8052 There's a Shin Getter Dragon in three continuities of Getter Robo, as far as I could tell: Getter Robo Saga: In Shin Getter Robo, Benkei overload Getter Dragon with Getter Energy, only for it to become a near energy-like being that later become a Sacred Beast that turned the planet into a prison in a not too distant future. It plays an important role in both that and the short lived Getter Robo Arc. Shin Getter Robo: Armageddon: hundreds of thousands of Getter G machines converge and merge into a literal giant in the first "half" of the series. It went through many forms throughout the show until it become something similar to Uzahra of the later part of the Getter Robo G manga. It's the center piece of the show. Getter Robo Daikessen!: D180223 already explained it in the video description.

Also Devolution shouldn't be consider as a part of the Getter Robo Saga; since that thing never got finish thanks to the cancelation of the host magazine that features Arc and sudden death of the author some time after.
