FOR THOSE NOT FAMILIAR WITH WHAT THE "QUALIFIED" MEANS, THIS IS DIRECTLY FROM THE VGA WEBSITE: "Qualified Grading Scale (items are accompanied by documentation) - for opened package with new contents video games, systems and accessories from all years" So the 2 games Mizkif has are opened, but the contents inside have been confirmed as "unused". When it comes to the high-end market, this is a massive distinction. As soon as the seal is broken/game is opened, it becomes more akin to a glorified CIB game than a sealed game. You can disagree, or think it shouldn't be like that, but that is currently how the market treats them, and I'm not sure it will change. I hope Mizkif didn't purchase the games under the pretense that they were actually "factory sealed".

All grading is a scam. Multiple hands getting greased, ya know, except for yours, when the bubble pops and your $5000 “graded” game is worth a tiny fraction of what you paid. Meanwhile, grading company, auction house, keep all their profits. Every single market from the dawn of time has eventually corrected itself. What happens when all the collectors realize that the only people buying these games are other collectors hoping to profit from a sale at a later date to another collector. You’ve literally removed all of the intrinsic value from the good…. You might just as well purchase a piece of paper from the grading company lmao. When 99% of the value is derived from the fact it’s graded, you’re in trouble….
@ozzmanislord57249 күн бұрын
but 99% of the value isn't because of grading. if you have a mint factory sealed game that is rare and highly desired, its value is still going to be high. you have to get a grip on the reality that not everyone views a values game to only its playability, and just because you do, doesn't mean you're right.

@GetTheGreg3 жыл бұрын
The vast majority of people I've met in this realm are motivated by the collecting aspect more than the profit aspect. Of course, the 2 aspects do become more intertwined as the value amounts grow into the thousands, but *most* people still do their buying/selling/flipping in order to fuel the collecting. Of course, there are people in every hobby who just seek to make a quick buck. If there is no actual *collecting* taking place, then we can agree.

@@GetTheGreg and I agree. But what I am getting at is when you highlight profit as a key aspect of the purchase or item (like the guy in that video did) it no longer is about the Preservation and Appreciation of the concept (art or manufacturing of the item). So instead of collecting for the appreciation and preservation of the knowledge it inserts a financial incentive or motive onto the act of preserving these items for for the world. I say the same thing about all art. I can't stand it when people talk about profiting off of fine art because the art is usually presented as cultural knowledge and "cultural value". I’ve been into sealed game collecting since 2010. N64 games are extremely common. So common that many boxes of N64 6-packs were submitted to vga and you can tell cause they say “uncirculated”. And yes Greg is correct, I remember when vga started the “qualified” tier, it was mostly used for Earthbound. PCGS started doing “genuine” around this time, and a lot of people got “tricked” cause they weren’t educated enough to know the difference between “qualified”. I remember buying my 85+ majors mask in 2010 for $110. A lot has changed since then.

@GetTheGreg3 жыл бұрын
That red Nintendo strip is a PAL only thing. And it's far harder to properly replicate a Nintendo 1st party seal than it's given credit for. On top on the seal, you'd also have to have a box that has never been opened, as you can also identify a reseal by purely observing certain aspects of the box alone. The risk of reseals and fakes always exist, of course, but with cardboard based games it's not at all easy to create one that is even half convincing to people who have years of experience with them.
@michaelg72773 жыл бұрын
I like your reaction on this, saw that video before i saw yours. Sow qualified means already opend and reseald, what does uncirculated mean then? Sorry for this noob question ;)
@GetTheGreg3 жыл бұрын
Qualified isn't "resealed", it's just opened and verified as unused. So the contents can still be taken out of the box. Uncirculated is a designation given to games/consoles that generally come from sealed factory cases of games - that's the most common example. So like Mario 64 would ship to Walmart in a box with 6 copies inside. If you were to send one of those sealed boxes to VGA, have them open it and grade the MK64s inside, they would be designated as uncirculated.

Would there be any advantage to cracking those bad boys open and sending to Wata for grading?
@GetTheGreg3 жыл бұрын
Ahhhh, probably not? I assume you mean the qualified games specifically? Qualified is a bit better than CIB, technically, but I think it would basically be a parallel move or leave you slightly worse off.
@BiggRuss3 жыл бұрын
@@GetTheGreg Thanks. I meant any of them actually. I was checking out a guide that compared the two company's grading scales and was wondering if "grade swapping" might have become a thing since WATA was newer. Your videos have already helped me make what I think are better informed decisions about this process already. Thanks again.
@GetTheGreg3 жыл бұрын
Oh yea, grade swapping is huge already haha. It's a bit dependent on the type of wear your VGA game exhibits. If the VGA 85+ or 85 game is that grade due to wrap wear, it's almost always more beneficial to swap it over to WATA. But even then, always risk that you play the game wrong and end up with a parallel or even less desirable item.

Mizkif has such a persona about him, I feel like he knows about the qualified but just didn't want to say so for the video but honestly who knows. Why he says boxes and not games I'll never know

Is mizkif part of the heritage auctions and (I forget the name of the graders they own) the graders inflation if the games market where the owner of the auction house bought his own copy of mario at just over a million. So articles would write, not that an auction site owner bought his own game to inflate the market, but "mario sells.for over a million dollars!" Making people think that's what they are worth. Everyone with a sealed copy then goes to pay to get theirs graded and then auctioned and because of the amount of them on the site now, the prices go way down and the only people winning are the rich mo foster manipulating stuff in thenfirst place. Apparently he does it with comics too where he'll put on of his comics up and the buy it back. Sit on it for a few years. Put it back up and then buy it back for more. And keep doing this to manipulate the market. Its disgusting. Is mizkif one of these? Or is he just a naive victim?

So question 🙋♂️ “qualified” mean VGA thought it wasn’t real..... so the opened it..... and whoops.... it was real..... so VGA opened said game!?!?
@GetTheGreg3 жыл бұрын
Qualified means "New/unused, but opened". So in some instances, yea, they may screw up OR the item has indeed been resealed but is still "new" inside, OR it's just a straight reseal and used so you don't get it graded on either scale.
