I personally love that there was a lot of VGA stuff in this auction because VGA gradings just make a lot more sense to me personally compared to WATA, WATA gives almost any game a 9.6 or 9.8 and VGA is a bit harsher which is overall better for the market. I mean of course people prefer to send their games to a grading service that easily gives out high grades left end right that is why WATA is giving out the high grades so easily, they get a lot of customers that way and make a lot of money but it also inflates the market with to many high grade games and will prevent that a lot of those hight grades will become really rare and so it makes grading and the collecting of those graded games a bad long term investment. Also i think the VGA boxes with gold badges for +85 and higher look a lot better than the WATA or CGC boxes.

I mean, I think that for modern especially wata kinda has no choice. Cases are often in mint or near mint condition on plastic case games if sealed. So even if the seal is in bad condition the box is very likely to be a high grade. A wata 9.8 a+ and a 9.8 a is like a difference between a vga 80+ and a vga 85+ even though the grade looks nearly identical. And this does seem to be the case since you do actually see a more natural distribution between grades when you go to cardboard stuff. I think the main issue with wata is just that their classification for an a+ seal grade is way to broad. And that is also where you see vga falter. As for that stuff you don't just buy the seal you buy the box condition as well and a vga 80 for cardboard could very well be a 9.6 a or something like that.

Personally I rather vintage games being in VGA 90-100 condition. I recently got back a VGA 95 copy of Dracula Densetsu (Castlevania: The Adventure) in vga 95, which is very impressive for a 30+ year old game. It just hits differently when it’s vintage as opposed to modern

It also showed how they make labotory made diamonds and how insane that it is - that even the best of the best experts cannot see the difference between a naturally made diamond found in the wild - compared to one made in a labotory.

I’m a huge Wata switch collector and I have been grading Pokémon cards for years. I have 8 9.8 A++ Wata graded video games between 150-300 depending on the game and print. I have no idea what the difference between the 10s are and the 10s start at 1500 and go to whatever people are willing to pay.

The CIB first print Metroid in actual high grade is going to be multiple thousands, so like... That SNES Zelda had better be VERY NICE haha (the GameCube Zelda CIB is too worthless to even be relevant in this example) Edit: I don't know if you mean a hangtab Metroid or not by "first release". That A++ is still tricky to get. I think out of 10 from WATA, my only one is a TG16 game. Not that I can see anything wrong with the DVD-style As or A+s, but who knows.

The A++ is definitely a tight grade, but the variance you can find within A+s and As is pretty vast...

They should have started by giving out more perfect grades, or committed to giving none at all. I guarantee if you cracked out a perfect graded game and sent it in again, it would not come back as perfect. Maybe a 0.1% chance that it would. So what does the perfect grade really mean?

Yeah that is true, very arbitrary and I wonder who would make a decision like that regardless. Seeing the prestige that comes with such a high grade I doubt that just any grader could give out a perfect grade.

I said this before but: when microsoft finally release a console without a disc player, and perhaps sonys ps... I dont think ps6 is gonna come without a disc reader because it will be a good counter punch to xbox gamepass only option but ps7? probably. Anyway, when everything is digitally, owning "games" physically" is probably gonna become very valuable relics because kids today still grows up with physical media, even though many play/buy digitally. This might be the last generation- the kindergartens kids etc, so 15-20 years from now I think the prices will be the most valuable for physical games.

That zelda is just too new, 2011, and case packs were likely in circulation until at least 5 years ago or so, and on top of that, collecting was already pretty popular when this game was running round stores, sealed. Then you have, to your point, the 10 being the draw here, AND that it's in a hell of a sturdy small plastic case, and you have a recipe for this game selling for 1/3 of this price over a fairly short period of time when vga, cgc and wata puts out population. Now every 3ds zelda will get graded and you'll see 9.6 A+ and 9.8 A++'s pour in.
