i know it's been said a million times over, but i'll always be grateful to crazy ex for giving us this representation. tv shows usually avoid outright saying the word "bisexual" like the plague, so my mind was blown the first time i heard darryl have an entire musical number about how much he loves being bi. he debunks so many stereotypes about bi people in the lyrics and just by being a kind, dorky middle aged man lovingly raising two daughters, which is so antithetical to the popular image of a bi person. god i miss this show

The summer that CXGF Season 1 was posted on netflix and I started binging it, I was simultaneously coming to the conclusion that I was bi. This song provided some welcome levity and clarity to a very confusing process for me. Thanks to the entire CXGF team for that.

I actually saw a video (I believe on KZbin) indicating that bisexuality is by far underreported, with the vast majority being closeted or at least under the radar. I mean, it does make sense. It’s been theorized that most of the population are on a sliding scale that varies throughout their lives, with a smaller percentage of the population being exclusively homosexual or heterosexual. It definitely makes sense: considering the prejudice towards, and struggles of the gay community, I would imagine people who can (satisfyingly) lead hetero lives would find it much easier to fit in (if only on the surface). While at the same time, I’m thinking being bi in the gay community, although absolutely being much more acceptable, still kind of makes one “the odd man out”. I can only imagine that it’s a struggle that only those who have actually gone through it can understand - but then, I suppose most struggles are.

May I ask, isn't it strange that a group of people ( in your example gay people) who were not long ago considered the "odd" - heck even "mentally ill" - ones would consider a BI person " the strange one(s)"? But I guess predjudice exists in all gruops, maybe even more so, if they have been the ones not accepted not long ago.....Or am I getting it totally wrong ? @@phossu3110 Not exactly a whole episode. More like 3 minutes. Todd from Bojack Horseman had a very funny coming out scene. These two are the only publicly asexual characters I know. The creator told in an interview that SpongeBob and Patrick are asexual but it's never mentioned in the show and people think they're a gay couple.

I couldn’t help but notice most of the comments identifying with the song are women. I’m wondering if it’s just because there’s less of a stigma for a woman to be bi than for a guy. I mean, while she leads a heterosexual lifestyle, Angelina Joelle has openly talked about having had lesbian relationships, and it really hasn’t affected her career or persona. While it’s much more acceptable now than in the past, I think a male leading actor (say someone like Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt) would face a certain amount of backlash/controversy. Just something I found interesting.

I think part of it is because this show has a female audience like the other commenter said, but also because, in my experience, most bi men don't talk about it. They either live as gay or straight. That's why I am happy this song exists!
