This song would be perfect as the official bisexual anthem. I'm not even joking. It denounces all of the stereotypes that bisexual people face, including them just being gay, that they need to choose a side, that they're choosing this, that they're promiscuous, that they're just confused, or that this is just a phase. It also overwhelmingly portrays bisexuality as positive and OK instead of as a joke or something "hot", like it's often portrayed in movies and TV shows. Finally, it's nice that they finally have an openly bisexual male character, who are greatly underrepresented in portrayals of bisexual people.

does anyone else feel like the cw's advertising team just DO NOT get this show? I stayed away from this amazing show all season because the ads stripped away all the irony from each scene, making it look like an awful romantic comedy. but then I realized it starred the Rachel Bloom from the hilarious youtube videos and I gave it a chance. I was shocked how amazing it is. the cw would've honestly had a way better ad if they just showed the theme song.

+Jaclyn N-man To be fair, while the execs suck at selling the show, they have come out and said they'll support it despite its crappy reviews because they think it's good. So SOMEONE at the station gets it, but it's not translating super well to the marketing team.
@Bluerabbit428 жыл бұрын
+Jaclyn N-man At least CW has a history of giving shows a chance. Supernatural, now in it's like, dozenth season, was not popular at first. It tried to be a straight ahead horror show in season one, but ultimately wound up a rather campy and funny buddy show with lots of weird revelations type biblical allusions. Of all networks, they seem to realize that if a show has a good cast that is pleasant to work with and produces quality episodes, they might be worth nurturing even if they don't bring in big numbers at first. They've had a few shows that began as cult favorites and grew into giant fandoms. It gives me much hope for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
@cupcakesurvivor8 жыл бұрын
+Bluerabbit42 I'm not trying to say the whole network doesn't get it, but definitely the advertising department seem a little confused on how to make the commercials. But I'm surprised with how much the cw lets them get away with.

I do always feel sad when some people still claim Darryl was "gaybaiting" because he ended up with a woman in the end. I mean, I loved him and WhiJo too, but we saw them having a full on relationship on screen and afterwards, Darryl was still openly bi and open about WhiJo being his ex. That's not baiting. Plus, a ton of bisexual people are in opposite sex relationships and not just because they're "in hiding". Logistically, in a world where the number of LGBTAQ+ people is estimated to be between 4-14% of the population and part of that group is not interested in you by default (for example, a bisexual man is not of interest to a lesbian), but you go both ways, there's a bigger chance you'll find a lover of the opposite sex just by sheer numbers. I don't think it's wrong to acknowledge that. Would I have liked Darryl and WhiJo to stay together? YES. Were we gaybaited? Absolutely NOT.

I'm going to point out something I didn't learn until my 40s--being bisexual doesn't mean you like men 50% of the time and women the other 50%. It can be 60 /40 or even 80/20.

I love this comment - the whole point of 'the group mind has decided you're in love' is that people still shipped those characters even though they lived out their romantic arc. WhiJo and Darryl were such a fully explored relationship, and like many on the show they didn't work out. Him also having a positive relationship with a woman in my mind is important to validate his bisexuality - and also they were suuuuper cute together

this made so happy because we (the bi community) don't have a bi representation on TV and we're invalidated A LOT, and watching a bi character singing about how proud he is about his sexuality makes me feel better

I like that there's an actually portrayal of a grown man who's bi and not a man who was just "secretly gay and leaves his wife". Its annoying that such representation is rare in media, its 2021 and there isn't much to show for it!!

Back when I was in the military, during one of our longer on field practices (like 2 weeks in the forest) I told my entire tent that I was bi, just kinda let it slip in a conversation. There was like a 5 minute long awkward silence after that, during which this just kinda played in my head.
@rexappleby47313 жыл бұрын
Were they chill or shitty after that 5 minute pause?
@lolmechy3 жыл бұрын
@@rexappleby4731 Neither really. Aside from one guy (Who was bi himself.) nobody said anything about it. I guess that's technically chill, but it was mostly just awkward.

i love how darryl also dates a man but still ends up with a woman by the end of the show, really signifying that bisexuality in men is not just "gay but won't accept the full 100"

This is the most realistic representation of bisexuality to be absolutely honest. Miss me with that "I like dark chocolate AND milk chocolate, if you know what I mean, I'm bilingual eyyyyy, I'm a dog AND a cat person [wink, wink, nudge, nudge]" Nah, THIS is what we're actually like XD

Either I'm very bi myself or just confused in some other way but I've always wondered how people have to so hard time understanding bisexuality? :D In my opinion, it is much easier to understand someone's attraction towards both/all genders than attraction solely on one gender.
