I am an airline pilot based in Hong Kong. Wanted to be one since I was four years old. In High School I read Report From Engine Co 82. For a brief time I considered becoming a firefighter. So I still have a love for the fire department from a distance. This Capt is a real deal. Loved it. As an airline Captain I always tell the new guys it’s duty of care! Put the caring first and the rest falls in line. Thanks for your show. I watch them all from here on You tube .

What year did you become a pilot? I asked because I was told that during the 70s pilots would line up on the smoke coming from the Bronx to guide him to LaGuardia. I don't know if that is accurate or just apocryphal, based on the available technology of the time.

As soon as John came out of Proby Scchool to E94, we knew he was going places - and not meaning dozens of transfers either!. One of the best Probies to walk through he door!

I can count on one hand the number of episodes I have not watched live, and last night I was laid up on pain meds and fell asleep before the stream began. My biggest complaint about the episodes is that they are too short, I never want them to end! I turn on last night's episode only to see that I missed what was probably the longest episode ever, 2 hours and 20 minutes. That's what I get for missing a live stream... I love y'alls podcasts, thank you for all the work you do putting these things together!!!

I was in Cambridge housing. All three elevators/urinals were out. Climbed 22 floors to the roof. Someone shit at the top landing. It was so hot it baked the juice out of it. The smell took my breath away. We used to lock ourselves out on the roof so they wouldn’t try to come out behind us.

Had an entrapment one time. The fd was there already. I walked in and picked the door in two minutes. Took the people out. The fire captain says hey, can you make me one of those picks? I said “ I tell you what, give me the keys to the big red truck out there and let me take it for a spin”. No! We can’t do that. That’s our livelihood. I said “ then you leave the elevator work to us.

One of his firemen said’ that’s all right capt. I think I can make one. I said that’s good, just don’t stick it in the lock contacts, there 250 volt dc in there. The captain said yea, we won’t be doing that.

You should have been a fireman, then you wouldn't have to "like" your own 6 comments.
