Robert Connely Farr is a songwriter from Bolton, Mississippi - hometown of musical legends Charley Patton & the Mississippi Sheiks. Farr is a friend & protege of Jimmy Duck Holmes, one of the original Bentonia bluesmen who learned directly from Henry Stuckey (who also taught Skip James).
His 2019 “Dirty South Blues” & was released to immediate critical acclaim. Greg Vandy at KEXP named it as one of their top albums of the year & earned Farr nominations for both Songwriter of the Year & New Artist of the Year by Canada’s prestigious Maple Blues Awards. After an emergency cancer diagnosis & surgery, Farr hit the ground running & 2020 saw Robert release 3 albums culminating in “Country Supper” generating sustained buzz & landed on numerous Best of 2020 lists. Farr’s music has been used on Netflix (Snowpiercer), SYFY (Resident Alien) & TNT . He currently resides in East Vancouver Canada.

I am 67 and have lost so many, my mom,dad, 3 bro's, 1 sister and many wonderful friends! Was very fortunate to have all 4 grands right into my teens!! Stage 3 cancer survivor [8 years in may] Felt sorry for myself sitting on the couch and so sick from the radiation and chemo when a commercial came on about St Judes Hp and it was eye opening. All the things I have been blessed with and those poor kids [ very humbling ]! I miss all the folks I have mentioned but am happy to have shared living with them and consider myself a lucky man. So when my wife and 3 millennial's tease me with the old man remarks I smile and say Ya! It sucks to get old but It Sure Is Nice!! All the best my fellow Geriatrics 😊

I really enjoyed reading this! Congrats on beating the cancer. I went through a bout in ‘19 no radiation but had a few traumatic surgeries that almost took me out. So here’s to all the cancer survivors out there and blessings to those that didn’t make it. Hope this finds your well Jimbo! Keep on keepin on brother!!!

Sing it brother. 46, approaching 47. Used to be so vibrant and full of life. Not so much these days. Used to bodybuild and powerlift. Strong as all hell, but nasty injuries ended it. Smacking concrete from 12 feet up will do that. Each day I get up takes about an hour to 2 hours to stand straight up like a normal person. Each year that passes it gets worse, and nothing helps. Done all the lotions, potions, pills, and creams. Done the physical therapy and patches. Same results. Now I just push through it. Been a few occasions I've had the 9mm up to my chin, but can't bring myself to do it. Not afraid to take my dirt nap, I just couldn't do it to my family. Chin up fellas, keep pushing. One day the pain won't be there anymore.

Appreciate you sharing that man. Seems every day just hurts more and more. I was thinking about it today and thought “maybe it’s my job to hurt” maybe that is fodder for some songs or something. I don’t know to tell you the truth. Some days I feel I I have a jammer it’d be all good but I just keep on keepin on the same way I saw my dad do last year until he died. He just kept fuckin going - cancer eating at him and he just kept on. Like a man crossing a battlefield… wish you the best & no judgement from this end. Only empathy brother. Robert 👊

Nearly 77 and getting tired which still comes as a puzzle . 1947 don't seem long ago but take 77 from 1947 and you get 1870 and take 77 from that and you get 1793 and that shows how old you are.

Beautiful song. I'm 30 and struggling with growing older. I fear I will soon not be able to recognize myself in the mirror anymore. I am afraid of poverty when I grow old and of being physically weak, ill and in pain as well as terribly lonely.
