Tummy time is so relaxing for newborns! Omg, this baby is enjoying the special time. So cute! Quiet and calm. I feel like having a tummy time, too!

I believe that the point of tummy time is so the baby will strengthen his or her neck.

Hold baby on your chest...that is also considered tummy time for a newborn.

When in the mid 70’s to early 80’s we were taught to see hem on their tums. That way they wriggled and brought up any wind. All 3 of my babes slept through the night really quickly. Nothing in this video is new. How did we cope all those years ago.

Until the 1990's, when the "Back to Sleep" recommendation was issued to prevent SIDS, most babies slept on their tummies. They were very used to that position, comfortable in it, and got their tummy-time automatically when falling asleep or after awakening in that position in the bassinet or crib. By age 2-3 months, babies were holding their heads high enough to happiiy spend time on their tummies during the day, looking at and learning to reach for toys. They didn't hate the tummy position because they were used to it and their necks were strong from being in it. Today's small babies sleep on their backs and then spend most of the day in a carrier on their backs. This can cause misshapen heads (flat on back) and delay their development of motor skills in the tummy position. Because of sleeping on their backs, babies today DO need regular periods of tummy-time, at least until they are able to roll over on their own.

More babies died due to SIDS back in those days. Since the change of putting babies to sleep on their backs there has been a significant decrease in SIDS. But as a result tummy time is a necessity to build babies muscles, strength and development.

Какое поколение? Я родила в 1969 году и на живот выкладывали после выписки из роддома. Просто надо было читать спец литературу, медиков грамотных.

No need for a newborn to do tummy time.

38 years ago when I had my first child all children always were sleeping on their tummy’s by that time it was so dangerous to let the kids sleep on their back’s because of sudden death, why shouldn’t newborns have a need for tummy time? How could you know? Do you remember for your time as a newborn?
@kaladwarakanath55037 ай бұрын
@@tettivestberg2989 Because they are miserable during TT. Not all babies have TT, but they develop muscle strength on their own. And no baby is going to be laying on their backs forever unless there is a health issue. Way back when babies slept on their tummies, their heads would rest on the mattress, which is different from TT.
