Yes, but they should not mature into fluffy benign teddy bears. These are function bred dogs, Live Stock Guardians, and the traits and dispositions/temperament of a Live Stock Guarding can be rough, course, exceeding high Defense Drive and very territorial, they are independent thinkers, who do not look to humans for commands or instruction, are often reluctant to take commands from human females or children whom they they do not perceive to be their physical equal. Traits that make a dog a successful Livestock Guarding often do not translate well into these dogs being house pets or obedient pets reliant on their master for commands, instructions, affection. The females of the breed tend to be more attention seeking compared to males as a general rule, but certainly exceptions exist. The females are also generally very territorially protective of bedding and food, with specimen from certain lines exhibiting these traits to a marked degree. All that Fluff also requires extensive grooming, especially in the spring and fall, when one can expect a snow-storm of hair coming off these dogs, I mean you can fill up a large outdoor garbage can weekly with hair, crazy. They do not suffer strange animals or humans to enter their property, and depending upon the line and specimen that you have, they may bite first-ask questions later.

Have you worked these dogs? They are not great flock dogs. There are many breeds better suited for such work. They do excel at property and personal protection. Also, I can say based on 50 years of being in there presence, they absolutely can and do thrive in homes. They need space certainly, but they are low energy dogs 90% of the time. The other 10% they are terrifying to perceived threats to person and property. All of mine have always sought contact with those they watch over. They lack the stamina needed to keep up with flocks on the move, they do not work well in groups, and can be quirky and challenging stability wise. Not good traits in any LGD. However, given all this, 50plus years on and I still have CO dogs. Always will. I was born in their presence and hope to leave this life in their presence. Outstanding companions.

handsome little pup, would love one of these dogs one day but dont have the space or the work for them to keep them happy and behaved. they are intense dogs and id only get them if I had a big property and the time to stay on top of training but if you can manage all that these dogs will have you sleeping very soundly knowing they are watching your property lol.

Keep them indoors when they're puppies. Puppies have no immune system against parvo.

Unfortunately for large male specimens, the growth, structural and neuromuscular development is slower and often one will not being to see the movement, structure of the hips/pelvis, movement until 12-14 weeks of age, so breeders selling "show quality" prior to 3 - 3.5 months of age is nonsense. A young male puppy at 8 weeks of age may look like a potential champion, only for things to start to go south structurally by 12 weeks of age. I have witnessed this countless times over the past 40 years. Some of these eastern European breeders claim that they can pick a show quality puppy at only a fews days of age, which is pure BS. When I visit their kennels I ask to look at their subadults being kept as future foundation breeding stock. I make an offer on the specimen that I consider will be the best and most representative of what I am looking to create, and they can either accept or refuse my offer. Selecting an 8-14 month old as a foundation stock for your kennel is probably the better way to proceed, because their is too much guess work in selecting a very young puppy and they simply do not always mature into what you had hoped for. Waiting two years, expending the time, energy, and money waisting what was hoped to be a great specimen, only to find out that is has hip or elbow dysplasia and should not be used for breeding, is tong to say the least. Also be aware that some breeders in Europe do not X-rays their dogs prior to breeding them to determine if hip and elbow dysplasia exist, or test for thyroid issues, which we have observed in a number of dogs being imported from certain kennels in eastern Europe. If you are not interested in breeding or showing your dog, that the above is not necessarily a concern. However, no one want their dog to be dysplastic.
