Getting a Yorkie Puppy?

Are you planning on getting a Yorkshire terrier? or wondering should you get a yorkie?
Watch this before you get a yorkie as I have shared my personal experience with my yorkie puppy and there are things you got to aware of!
While getting a Yorkie puppy can fun and adorable, you gotta know the challenges that comes along with it.
Nevertheless, I absolutely love my Yorkie and would definitely recommend a yorkie provided you can dedicate time to the puppy!

I have a yorkie and he is 14 years old! He is amazing, still acts like a puppy. He was very easy to house break. The same day I got him, he had an accident. I picked him up and put him next to the door. Since then, he always goes to the door to let me know he needs to go. He was 4 months old! Anyways, I love him so much and I am so blessed of having him on my life. Love you Valentino ❤️

I love my Yorkie!! She was a breed dog that was rescued by my local animal authorities. Because she lived in a cage for most of her life, she was shy and nervous. After a few months with us, she has blossomed into such a sweet girl. We love her!

As a Yorkie mom I agree with everything you said. I would add two things tho...1-They are very prone to tooth decay so staying on top of dental hygiene is a must. 2. They need to be groomed every 6-8 weeks. Their hair grows very quickly and you don’t want to experience a Yorkie going potty and it sticking to their backside.

I lost a yorkie 2 years ago and i’ve had him from when i was 2 to 11. He was my best friend and will always be. Now we have finally decided to get another yorkie because we just love the breed so much. The name is gonna be Toby and he’s only 6 weeks old! I can’t wait to get him!!!!

I've had three at seperate times over the years. If you get one...........Be prepared to lose your heart to them. It was so painful to lose each one....... I can't bear to go through having to say goodbye again. I miss them all. R.I.P........Sha, Remington and Romeo. I know they are waiting for me and I can't wait to see them again.

I have a yorkie and a maltese it was more difficult to potty train a yorkie than a maltese she stil makes a mistake some times but I Love both of my dogs to bits they are a great friend with each other and becouse they are togaather all the time they dont have the problem with separation anxiety. They are both very playfol and so funny when they start competing for my attention you Just cant pet only one of them at the time and not the other. They both have a great personality.

My family got a rescue Yorkie this summer. You video was spot on. We are super pleased as would could spend the time to properly potty him and get him on a great sleeping schedule. One issue that we are still working through is that he absolutely hates getting his nails trimmed. We have tried all kinds of techniques and have taken him to many salons. We now have to sedate him which is something we’re not happy about. Trying to get him in a daily routine using a rotary tool. Still difficult. However everything else about our Yorkie has been above our expectations.

Please please be very careful when looking to buy a yorkie puppy especially if they say they will sent them to you on a flight which is very dangerous for such a small dog because when I went online looking to buy yorkie they were all scammers. They should not be asking for deposits up front Beware. Be very aware!

Hmm don't know about your info.. my yorky was very easy to house-train. She didn't chew on anything but her toys and rawhide sticks. I guess it all depends on who trains them and the skills used. My yorky was my first furbaby as an adult , I got her at 6 weeks old , house broken by 10 weeks old, learned tricks by 10 weeks + old. She never showed signs of separation anxiety, and I worked 40 a week. Walking your dog a mile before work enables your dog to sleep better during the day.. plenty of toys and soft cuddly posh animals and pillows in her 'day crate' gives comfort through out the work day. Never use the crate as a punishment.. train your furbaby to know that's their bedroom for sleeping and resting during the day when you're not home. Eventually You can leave the crate door open mine went in and out as she pleased (I had an indoor camera I could watch her on my cell phone at work to know if she had separation issues, and see if she used her crate properly. I kept pee pads nearest the door she would normally go out if I were there.she used those pads during the day even at 10 weeks old which helped with outdoor training .I hung a bell on the doorhandle of door leading to go outside I taught her to,'nose ring' the bell to alert me she needed to go out when I was home. So I have to say Yorkies are easy to train.maybe I got lucky..but that was my experience.

Hi i just subbed as i m impressed by your show,thank you so much!every single point you mentioned was totally true!yes they are very fragile,my yorkie's sister got stepped on by a accident by a 3 year old and sustained fracturs to 4 toes and her foreleg.pup was about 3 mths old.we take care around mine but accidents happen.luckily no injuries so far.LOKI is now almost 4 mnths old and the boss of me lol!!!surprisingly tough and aggressive at times.LOKI'S name describes him to a 'T'!

My cousin stepped on her yorkie I felt bad because he was crying and then he was limping for 2 days then she almost stepped on him and she left chocolate on the floor and he ate some . Train all yorkies using a treat when they go out side to potty. First you can go with them every time a give them a treat when they go inside just take them out. They will learn to potty quickly, because they want that treat and your attention. Till they will only need a treat after they come in from potties breaks.

For a puppy 6-7 hours alone would heavily affect their well-being. Whereas as they grow there are few things you can do to make them more comfortable and happy at home! Yes for sure. Leave the tv on for them but the best thing would be to get another dog. That usually solves the separation anxiety if it is not too late

Your puppy is adorable. Not a good dog for young children, they are too fragile for children. I have two I would get many more if I could! I love the breed.
