hi!! the frog is so cute! but i want to say that african dwarf frogs are very social animals so it is best to provide at least 2 in the tank. they tend to get lonely if not. then, your frog will have a happier life!!

African dwarf frogs get lonely without other A.D.F so u might want to get another one
@aandlsisters31837 жыл бұрын
How far is the waterline from the gravel? African dwarf frogs aren't very strong swimmers and I noticed that your tank looks a little tall. These frogs don't have gills like fish so they have to swim to the top to get a breath of air. Since the frogs are weak swimmers, it's hard to get a breath of air in a tank with water deeper than 12 inches. The ideal height is around 8-10 inches. Also, this is the type of animal that does better in a 5 or 10 gallon and not so well in any talk larger. The only exception to having a bigger tank is if you keep the water lower than 12 inches.

bro, you should find a local fish store, not a chain pet shop. you'll find some really nice fish
@zakk-kaye7 жыл бұрын
have to agree with this. I used to use a chain store but realised my LFS had so much better fish and more knowledgeable staff.
@LaviniaDeMortalium7 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure where he lives since I'm an occasional watcher, but places where I live - Orange County - are so suburban and highly priced that LFS's absolutely cannot survive. Provided I have the time and energy, I'd need to drive a couple hours, plus, to LFS's i trust and approve of. Heck, it's why I've learned to find suppliers of aquatic goods via google.

Have have a question is it a good idea to transfer 12 tetra fish from a 5 gallon tank into a 10 gallon tank with the tetra sharks?
@BigAl2-u7e7 жыл бұрын
i think you should get a tank bigger than a 10 gallon because that many fish need at least 30-40 gallons. And the tetra sharks are gonna need a much bigger tank. Like 125 gallons minimum for the tetra sharks. You might as well put the tetras in that tank too.
@dilan87027 жыл бұрын
It is abusive to keep tetras in anything smaller than a 10 gallon, and they should be kept in 20 gallons minimum (unless they are a small species such as ember tetras). When you say tetra sharks I am assuming you mean bala sharks, which need a minimum of 30 gallons. If they are silver sharks those need a minimum of 125 gallons, as they reach over a foot in length.
@jesstriplett10057 жыл бұрын
Nice to see you finally have your dwarf frog. they are very interesting creatures. But if i can give you some advice... 1st... dwarf frogs are very social and shouldn't be kept alone. You want to always have at least 2 or more. And alot allot of times when they are sold they forget to mention this fact. I started out they same way. And hanging out alone at the bottom will be very common until he has a friend. Once mine got a friend they both swam around so much that I got a 20 long so they had more swim space. they loved it! now 2nd... when they sleep they like things to rest on by the surface so they can rest without having to go up for air non stop. I put the betta leaves in mine and it works great. i put 2 side by side to start until they were familiar with grabbing on to it. mine do best in one of the back corners, but id pick a corner you see him hanging out in. once he knows its there u will see him sticking his nose out while he rests as well as sticking his nose out to sing or croak. it's pretty cool. Hope this helps. And I look forward to seeing him have a friend.

Great video! I just got two african dwarf frogs and two mystery snails at PetSmart yesterday for my 5.5 gallon. I noticed your tank is a little deep. African dwarf frogs have lungs, not gills, and so the water depth can't be more than a foot I believe.

Hey dwarf frogs are fine if they float they go for air and the angel and dwarf frog might but heads a bit with food and if the dwarf frog goes on it's front two legs it's in defense but he does no harm I recommend frozen bloodworms all the fish will eat it and you feed it once every other day

I'm considering going these for my nano tank! I haven't made any videos on the nano because mine arrived scratched to heck so I'm getting a new one. Btw I do not think these need a 10 gallon or more. That's overkill. It's very hard to keep them with other fish because the other fish will steal the frog's food. That's just me though.

I know I’m 2 years late, but you can grab a wooden skillet and put a freeze dried tubifex worms cube on the skillet, and put the skillet in the tank! It controls what they eat, and other fish love it too! You don’t have to, but it’s just something to consider :)

I got 3 of them not to long ago! They are really fun to feed blood worms and are really cool to watch
@sageexotics15896 жыл бұрын
They really do best with other frogs, and in a species-only tank. Water level below 12 is mandatory. They NEED a varied diet, just pellets or even mostly pellets is not good enough. Give them mysis shrimp, bribe shrimp, blackworms, blood worms, tubifex, and some pellets. Please do some research on them.

I think the tank is too big with too many fish, it could be fine, but I worry the frog won't get enough food. I've noticed with mine ( He's in a ten gallon with three other fish ) he doesn't really fight for food he waits for it to go to the bottom before he eats it. Hopefully it works out, but it's just something to keep an eye on. :)

If you intent to breed any sort of livebearer with your new ADF beware that despite their clumsiness they are effect predators of fry. Also keep in mind they breath air, similar to labyrinth fish, and hanging around the top of the tank is not unusual.
