As always another great video! If you travel 4hrs east of Vancouver you'll arrive at Osoyoos, BC which is in the Okanagan Desert. Very little precipitation and very mild winters and a pretty decent selection of winter birds. You have to be careful crawling around though lots of prickly vegetation. Thanks again, for taking us on another outing, it's appreciated!

I'm very disappointed you didn't get in touch with me as I live in White Rock.😊 I look forward to Fridays when you post and I'm looking forward to seeing the other videos you took. Reifel is a great place for wintering ducks. I was born in the Black Country and used to visit quite often.

I acknowledge the difference it makes to a photograph if you can match eye level with your subject. I just feel so self-conscious when I lie down to take a photograph when there are people around. Good to see it's not just me that does it. Living in Vancouver must be like living in Lancashire with all the rain and grey skies.

Well you were just across the border from me. I live in Island County, Washington just an hour's drive to the international border and quickly thereafter Vancouver, tho' I've not been there. These days I find Canada crossing is not a very nice experience. You use of the background music is nice, but I feel disconnected from the video, from the subjects in the video, and from the photographer photographing. Would you consider trying to use "natural" sounds at the place where you are filming? I'd like to hear that. By the way, thank you for sharing your 1995 trip to the Canadian Arctic. It gives me a different idea of who you are. It would be VERY interesting to see some of the images you took up on the tundra, esp. if it was in SUMMER!

Hi Mike! Welcome to our neck of the woods! Did you get a chance to go to Brunswick Point? Not too far from Reifel Bird Sanctuary. Lots of northern harriers and short-eared owls there. Have been three times this winter with pretty good success. Really enjoy your videos. Would have traveled over there from Nanaimo just to meet you. Have a great year of birding. Take care and good light! Steve Large, "The owl man" on Flickr.

Wish I knew you were coming here! Not many OM-1 shooters here, I just know of myself and one other, and neither of us have the 150-400. Would've loved to see it in person. I'm embarrassed to say we live in one of the worst climates for wildlife photography. There are frustratingly few good days with optimal lighting in the non summer months.

Very true Monokuro. Very true. Coming to Island County, WA after living in sunny Central California, where I learned to be a bird photographer, it has taken a great deal of readjustment. I'm not sure I've entirely succeeded.

@@fgb3126 I enjoy shooting in very strong pouring rain sometimes - shooting perched birds. It has a different look with a slower shutter speed, which is a nice change from the typical perched shot. But it's generally lacking in light when that happens, and there aren't many birds to find either. I wouldn't mind the rain as much if it was accompanied by good light and good bird availability.

Hello mr mark, I love your clips and I learn a lot of you thank you … may I ask do I need cpl filter? I have 200-600g , cpl filter is it necessary?
@MikeLaneFRPS
@MikeLaneFRPS Жыл бұрын
Very few people will use a CPL filter on a 200-600mm lens. They are more widley used with short lenses to darken a blue sky or remove reflections from glass.
