Your demeanor- your voice, your cadence of speech, your whole manner and way of speaking to the class while teaching this course is so inviting, supportive, and even soothing! Thank you! I thoroughly enjoyed watching this- I'm glad I found you!

I turn on loud music and give myself a relaxing reward afterward. In the past, I used to power through day after day until I decluttered our entire home. It made me sick, really, from the stress of it all. I am getting ready to declutter again, but now I am going to go at it slowly. I have 2 years to declutter....my husband retires then. I hope to be downsized by then. Our dream is to sell our home, rent a new apartment, and travel while we are still young, mid 50’s. My mom died last month and I was her only daughter, so I am sorting her items. I loved her very much. She was my best girlfriend. I am keeping only the most treasured items, like her handmade quilts(10!)....useful and beautiful....not clutter. I like your attitude and style. You are calming. I look forward to watching your other videos. I told my husband that I am going to be a tortoise, not a hare. Love to you.

Hi Betty, So glad you are changing your pace! Honestly, the biggest mistake people make is to do too much too fast too hard, which only leads to overwhelm and exhaustion... and resistance because who would want to do that again. We declutter and organize for life, so a steady weekly or monthly routine is much better. If your husband can't change switch gears, don't declutter together. Thanks for subscribing, and take good care, Laura

If you are planning to move and down size...plan ahead...2-4 years if you've been there for 10-20 years. Yes it is hard work but in the end it is so free it's like a anchor has been taken off your neck.. As people age they think differently and things are not that important to them but the memories are but the memories are so act accordingly get rid of the clutter ask yourself what is the real purpose of each and everything that you have. Don't let your emotions rule you. Be realistic. Be tenacious. It the job done because when it's finished you will feel so free.

You've helped me reframe my decluttering journey so much. I cannot tell you just how much work I've gotten done since watching your videos.. well... not a lot!!! But an incredible amount MORE than I would have if I kept avoiding it like i've been doing! I've already donated a bunch of stuff, and I'm still going. Every day it's a process, it gets tough, but I don't push myself. I go for walks, and I get curious about the things I have in my space... I think about something I'm having trouble letting go of, and then I mentally decide what to do with it, and then it becomes easier to let go of when I physically go to do the work. Thank you so so much for sharing your valuable knowledge on here for us... I'm only in my early 20s but I see myself developing a bad habit, and I want to improve before it gets like it has for my mother... I know it's going to all be my responsibility one day, but if I can help myself now, I know I will handle it so much better in the future. Thank you thank you THANK YOU!

This is so helpful, and I think its needed in Kindergarden through College, lol. I had an organized life and house, then my son at 40, as a single mom, and things dispersed at all times. What is it the universe hates a vacuume, and is in a constant state of entropy! My house too. No matter how clear and open I make spaces, he loves playing with new space. He jumps into the cleanest areas first to mess up and might play with and might not be done learning with, and don't pick that up yet, on and on. Talk about my issue of being so sentimental, and time with him, not cleaning, and not organizing is most precious. One mothers day card said my mom is always cleaning! And I had a messy house compared to others. I worked and had parenting 24/7. So there is only so much of me. I have the childhood memories, and videos all stashed in boxes, never transfered, and oh yea, my health, I can't stay up late or focus unless I have the secure time uninterrupted, so its been a challenge. But I like to tell myself, I am still here, and its just stuff! Well, life is a gift, and many people I love have passed, many way too early and that makes me not complain but try to find inspiration and create joy! My boy is 17 and he is quite a unique soul in that he is a rower for the Jr US team, and loves physics, and is working at a pizza joint. Now he clears clutter and goes to the American Cancer thrift to shop and donate his stuff. I feel ready to peel off an old layer as soon as he graduates and gets into school and I am able to have everything where I left it most of the time, lol. Its annoying doing repetative chores, there is no final done, so those I need a trick or some new way of approaching. Dishes, vacuuming, organizing, dusting and washing clothes, sheets, ironing, bathrooms, I'd rather clean a friends house!! That actually makes me happy when I do it. Thanks for your joy, you are helping me stay the course. Namaste.

Yes, Painful on several levels. Unable to create a timeline that sticks. Everyday is different due to limited stamina. I start well, then suddenly hit a brick wall. Whew! It's like a period of darkness shows up, followed with a Klondike Bar, &, finding my heat pad. Then a whole lot of self-talk ensues...Sometimes it works, ha, mostly Not! Well, I'll keep chipping away. Thanks for the videos. Will apply advice as I can. 🌼

Hi Glenda, Maybe it would be a good idea to reach out for help, especially since you have low stamina. The work is complex, yet much easier to have someone to guide you through and help with the physical work. Go to NAPO.net to find someone who lives near you. Don't give up, show up in little bits through time. Good luck, and thanks for subscribing! Take good care, Laura
