You need to be a little bit more loving to your mother a little more understanding what does it matter if she's cluttered you're not living there you're not cleaning it out. You can dump it all out after she dies. If she's not having to leave her home just help her clean don't help her get rid of anything. She doesn't have long to live letter enjoy the last years of her life😢 (your turn is coming you feel a lot different about it then)

After years of trying to declutter my house, you put so easily into words what I have felt all along since the very beginning of my decluttering journey. Somehow I had a hard time implementing the many "specialists" protocoles that I could find online and was not comfortable with their strange rules about what to keep or let go of. I'd love to read your book "It’s Your Mess, But Not All Your Fault" but I can't find it. Thank you!🌷

"Be interested in what comes up" = EXCELLENT advice! Lately I've been going thru lots of career-focused papers and remembering SO many ways my partner and I tried to make things happen! Probably of no interest to anyone else, but it's FASCINATING for me to revisit all the stuff we tried, chances we took; validates my impression that we truly DID "leave no stone unturned" trying to make it in show-biz! Nothing may have brought us huge success, but by the same token, there really were no huge failures, only "learning experiences"!! 👍Thanks for all of your encouragement, Laura! 🗑🗄🗓 Bit by bit, day by day, I'm gettin' there! XOXO - M

I'm chronically overwhelmed with my circumstances which are very complicated and distressing and getting more so every day, including chronic, disabling health problems. (I won't get into details because it is so complicated.) If I wait until I'm ready to declutter, it's not going to happen. I have to do the work because I have to move in a matter of a week or two, whether I like it or not. How do I get help to do what simply has to be done? My family members all live too far away. I've asked a lot of people for help, but everyone so far is unavailable, and I cannot do the work myself. I think I need individualized help, but I'm on low income. I know about your group, Laura, because you told me about it previously, but I need day to day help right now. Can you help me?

I am in Central Texas where it has been over 100 for almost 2 months. When I get to this point, I focus on keeping the peppers and tomatoes alive so that when it cools off they will produce again. I'll start seeding another round of herbs, cucumbers, beans, and squash this weekend. Praying for a successful fall garden.

I give things away easily. The problem I have is that when people see my stuff out on display they want it. I tend to offer it to them when they say they really like it. I hide my favorite things so I do not give away what I really want to keep. The other day I put out an item I really love and ended up giving it away. What is going on with me?👀

another video that resonates so much, the hiding away, the disconnection because of shame, the overwhelm is my trance, a sort of frozen hell... p.s. I am thinking about joining the group but I live in Europe and the timing is a bit late for me. I checked the page but I still have a question about knowing if there is active decluttering during the sessions or is it more about interacting on zoom, listening talking? I am afraid it's too late if there is decluttering during the sessions together? thank you Laura
@ClutterClarity
@ClutterClarity 11 ай бұрын
Hi - Very little decluttering during the session, more teaching and group responding. May ask attendees to bring something they are having difficulty letting go to go through essential criteria to make decision. Each session is recorded so you can review afterwards. Hope this helps! I've watched quite a few of your presentations, Laura, and they are absolutely excellent. I need to get specific help for my situation but I'm not sure how. I just turned 60 and I've been on disability for many years (since 1996 actually) and my level of functioning - what I can and can't do - has varied quite a lot during that time. It's therefore difficult to know what to keep and what to let go, especially since replacing things, if I need to, is difficult for me (for multiple reasons) and there are financial limitations too. Plus I'm chronically stressed due to circumstances in my life over which I don't have control (despite my efforts to find solutions for the ongoing challenges) so if I keep waiting for a time when it feels okay to declutter, it just isn't going to happen. I need to do the work, though, because I'm in such a small apartment, and I want the freedom and peace that I believe would result from decluttering. Any advice? And anyone I can work with? I’d appreciate your input. Thank you.

Deborah, Sorry for your challenges. Decluttering is one good way to feel in control, since it's your stuff to go thru... if you can learn how to do comfortably. You may need more physical help lifting things... Call your local senior center for vetted services. Start small, medicine cabinet, linens, kitchen drawers...Click on the link in this video's description for the upcoming Decluttering Support Group to learn essentials to make the work easier. Most economical way to get help, too. Take care, Laura

As I am getting older I do not want my family to be burdened with all my clutter should anything happen to me. I guess I am saying that when we live with our clutter we should also consider the time that we will "steal" from others when they have to go through our junk that we ourselves created... just a thought.

@@TheDriftwoodlover Yes, some people have to do it in 3 weeks, which only adds so much stress. A lot of people feel the way you do for good reason! Perhaps look at it that you chose to give your mother a year of your free time out of love or obligation. I hope you hired some help along the way. It is a lot of work, and SO many people feel "stuck" with what their parents could or would not do for themselves! It does make for a hard year, indeed. Hope you have more free time now to rest and play. Take care. Thanks for your comment, subscribing and sharing! Grateful ❣ Laura
