Ryan Donnelly reminds me so much of Boston Mikesell. Both such well mannered with such positivity among them. Its something that is often severely lacking among today's teens!

I was a driving instructor for about 8 years. Next week, when you drive to the DMV for your driving test, please drive to the DMV as a warm-up. You will be more relaxed for the driving test.

Honestly, age shouldn’t matter. I know it’s hard when everyone else around you has their licence but you don’t but you will get it when the time is right. Here where I live you can get your permit at 16, and then licence at 18 but during that time you have to do 120 hours minimum with different weather conditions, display l plates etc. I never got my permit until I was 21. I didn’t really want it earlier, but I had circumstances that prevented me from getting it earlier too. But either way, it’s not a race at the end of the day. One step at a time.

Some states you can't even get a license until 18. Even if you have a full license from some other state where it is allowed, in New York City you cannot drive if you are under 18. Other places like FL or PA you can get an actual license, not just the permit at 16 and not need another driver in the car. Arkansas is only 14.

A positive way to look at is a blessing in disguise maybe there’s a reason why it didn’t work out today that’s how I see it the burnt toast theory that burnt toast that makes you delayed could be the reason something positive happens to you or you avoided something negative

I’m sorry, Ryan! Yeah, I’m from Texas and when I was in school (except our school has always been screwed up) parents had to call the school, then go to the office, sign in and sign back out before they could see/talk to their kid. It made a lot of parents mad and rightfully so. I heard, “That is my kid! Let me see/talk to them!” Feel better boon, Mrs. Donnelly!

@@konfidentlykeiko1997 I am not sure but it sounds like Dad thought Ryan could just tell the office he's leaving without a parent signing him out , in Canada parents or whomever is on the list sign out their children until 18 I believe.

Hi Jill; Ryan and Mike; Today well actually nothing made me happy today. Also nothing went wrong today either; It was just a humdrum day. I guess it rained but not sure of that cause I never went out or looked out the windows. Had my coffee and did nothing. Anyway glad your feeling better Jill sleep does that sometimes. You should schedule your appointment on the weekend, so you don’t have to worry about school and also same thing here in GA, you need an excuse note signed by your parents so the school can let you go. Or either your parents go in and get you.

Atleast you didn’t do what a poor kid did in my town a couple days ago a block from the dmv. He got t-boned doing his behind the wheel test.

@@littlebigkicker it didn’t say much in the paper I think because of the age of the driver. All it said was that they had to take the driver and instructor to hospital and that the car was totaled. They do not think it was the kids fault. They also saw that he tried to prevent it or swerve his car to not to have it happen, but it happened anyways. And they are making a note of it so they can send it to the dmv to see if they can give him his license, so he doesn’t have to retake it after healing after the accident, if he suffered any serious injuries.

I wish the minimum age for getting a learners permit needs to be 17 and minimum age to get the full license needs to be 22.

I like at the end when everyone said nothing made them happy today but Jill wasn’t having it and reminded them that everyday is a blessing - really the whole point of the “what made u happy today” question - to acknowledge anything positive in the day or joyful or even if it’s something as simple as breathing and being able to live another day - also could turn around and reverse the negative of the day and be grateful for another opportunity to take the road test (esp a week later) - some tests or licensures if u miss or fail u have to wait much longer or go through a process before taking again - be well!
