So true, so great way to present the profession, so useful for me. A little beginner in videography. Late but there , with the same passion that I had when I began photography 40 years ago. Thanks for sharing such great helpful info.

@@sumeshlekhi-braveage9961 sir, I have Nikon coolpix p900 for bird photography, should I go for Nikon P1000
@sumeshlekhi-braveage996110 күн бұрын
@@ajaypandharipande1067 Remaining with the P900 is a good decision if lower camera weight and personal mobility is a factor and if one is fine with HD videos. Even the photo quality of both cameras are similar- ie a 3-5% difference. P1000 is a step up for the 50% extra optical zoom and seemingly slightly better dynamic range, but the stabilization does seem a bit wobbly as you go towards the telephoto end, because of weight of the camera and a longer zoom barrel. The P1000 has couple of other advantages, one is the 4k filming ability and the other is a better bigger e-Viewfinder. So if carrying a bigger camera is ok and if a tripod/monopod is handy and is generally anyway used, and the added zoom is considered important, then can consider the P1000, otherwise the P900 is already quite versatile and capable camera. If a camera was requiring for filming wildlife which is closer than birds or for good quality video, then the suggestion would be Sony RX10iv with its 1 inch sensor, build quality, and almost pro level delivery, but should be almost 40k more than a P1000 in terms of price. The best way to ascertain is to request the Nikon sales consultant to meet you at a landmark that works for both of you'll, and which has birds as November is a good season for this. Then simultaneously use your own P900 and the P1000 which the sales consultant is carrying. take photos and videos of the same subject at various telephoto levels using your own memory cards on both cameras. Once you are satisfied that you have covered enough ground for a comparison including the EVF advantage, weight, grip etc, take the results back to your space and ascertain the results from both cameras for image quality, ease of use, dynamic range, stability and other criteria. Can also go to a Nikon gallery/store and take shots from there from a demo unit. hope this helps.

Namaste sir, I am very happy to find your channel and this video gave me a great insight into wildlife filmmaking. My question:- What is more important to be a wildlife filmmaker, a degree/certificate or a wildlife showreel with no formal training? What path should I go on? About me :- I am a freelance video editor and also have experience shooting videos, clicking photos. I am very passionate to be a wildlife filmmaker, I did my Bachelors in Journalism and I am a recent graduate. Thanks.
@sumeshlekhi-braveage99612 жыл бұрын
Shekhar, thanks for writing in. While a degree or certificate in filmmaking would help, where you can warm up towards more equipment, scripting etc, and meet like minded people which may even give rise to associate/friendships, but most importantly try to go more often on the field with experienced filmmakers so that you learn field craft. You already have a pertinent degree in journalism and WHILE pursuing your freelance work, that would be getting good financial returns to support your intended wildlife filmmaking, you can also read up on current conservation topics or any wildlife story that interests you. Infact you may already have a story in mind. Then begin writing a broad framework of a project you could plan on. Then on your own, or join one or two of the many wildlife tours that are advertised in the wildlife area/jungle of your interest and join them to pick up your shots. you are already an editor, so once you start getting footage back you can begin laying out your project and timeline. but understand that wildlife filmmaking can get expensive over a period of time if self funded so a good route is to try and assist experienced filmmakers or then have a great story and see how that goes. If you already have great wildlife footage then can also work on a showreel so that it is always available on your profile. One more approach i can suggest is that if you think you can edit wildlife films well, as editing is your forte then advertise yourself to wildlife filmmaking companies that solicit the services of freelances. One can always join them for post, and then start using the expensive cameras they have or hire and then showcase the skill one has and also get good connects through them. hope this helps

Arpit, this is the Sony FS7 with an adapter for Canon 100-400mm lens. Now we have used Sony FX6 with Sony's 200-600mm, no adapter required. These are both broadcast video cameras for television, but you can also use mirror less cameras of all brands which will give you good results.

Quick question I'm in class 12 this is my year in school, i want to get into wildlife filmmaking, can you suggest any undergraduate course?
@sumeshlekhi-braveage99612 жыл бұрын
1)You could join a filmmaking course closest to you to pick up scripting, editing or cinematography to learn the craft of filmmaking first. 2)Or if you want to learn about wildlife behaviour and conservation. then you could see what it takes to join a wildlife institute in india, say dehradun. and find out what is the criteria, whether you need to pursue science. 3)Maybe a wildlife filmmaking institute has come up in India you could find out or the Bristol UK and other locations like the US do have dedicated wildlife courses. if you choose option 1 or 2 then simultaneously you could assist on a wildlife filmmaking or research project and get field experience.
