I wish more artists would be brave like Willow and use odd time signatures from time to time. Not even as a technical wankery thing, it can groove incredibly hard if you construct it right like the 7/8 sections on Symptom of Life.

There’s this band called Everything Everything and they have a song called Warm Healer that has a weird time signature
@dahalofreeek5 күн бұрын
@@georgeandfriendsadventures5073 ooh cool song! Ty for the recommend. Lovely synths, bass and drumming. There are definitely changes in the time signature. It starts in 6/4 to my ear, and then 4/4 for the chorus where you have those more linear pulsing quavers in the bass. I'll give you one: Follow by Incubus from the Halo 2 soundtrack. This song features many changes in time signature, while retaining coherency. It starts in a section that alternates between 9/8 and 11/8 before going into a common time verse section. The choruses are comprised of three bars of 7/8 followed by a bar of common time. It sounds messy on paper, but it's a bop.

Troy, THANK !!!! YOU !!!! SO !!!! MUCH !!!! for giving Willow a chance; As fans we feel like people are quick to judge her without listening to her music but she really takes the time to learn how to build her craft; She has taken a music course in college and an extension course in production a couple years ago, as well as years of singing lessons. Btw, - Yes, she played some instruments and produced some of the songs on the album. - Yes, this album has more of a spiritual energy and she explained that it is intencional because in her last album ( which by the way, we think you would love it!) she was heartbroken and very angry.

Its so artistic and jazz. this also really blew my mind because she really mastered her own voice and took the risk to ignore expectations from mainstream. Im just happy af that she got those influences from somewhere and trusted her gutfeeling and surroundings. ....btw. not an album I listen to on repeat but one of the most impressiv growths in music to witness lately. I liked a few songs already from her early work like "wait a minute"....but this album made me really respect her as an artist and musician
