I started watching you like two years ago. I told you my mom died from obesity and diabetes in her early 50s and it made me want to lose weight and you responded to my story in the comments. It meant the world to me. I was 298 back then. As a stay at home mom it's hard. Kids like junk food. I am 170 now. You helped me so much. Such a positive attitude. Thank you. So much.

I have a daughter who struggles with anxiety and depression that can be debilitating at times. I am so happy you are feeling better. Your home looks great, even without the curtains! 💗 I can’t wait to see if you can get your Victory Garden growing. My suggestion, be sure to plant some tomatoes. They tend to be easy to grow and make you feel good about yourself as a legit gardener! 😂 I start most of my veggies from starter plants purchased from a family run farmers market. It’s so much easier than seeds. Good for you for starting from seeds!

Oh boy, growing vegetables is something I look forward to every winter. I just got my second batch of seeds in today actually :) Most veggies just need warmth to sprout and light after that, so maybe wait with the lights until there is a bit of green showing and just keep the lids on until then. One thing I really had to learn is to also include flowers. It's so obvious that you need pollinators but for some reason I didn't think about giving them some nice flowers to come by my garden. Last tip: Spinach and tomatos (especially the ones growing like a little bush) are super easy and so rewarding. Fingers crossed for all your seeds!

Hi Bea! I absolutely love you content. I’ve been following since almost day 1. I’m a plant scientist and I have some advice on when to plant your trees. Unfortunately, they should not have been brought into the house. No worries tho! They’re gonna grow and do great as long as you wait until it’s a little warmer! They currently think it is summer, so I would wait until the indoor temperature is similar to the outdoor temperature so that they don’t get shocked and die. I also live in the inter mountain west so I know how cold this winter has been. I would recommend waiting a couple more weeks until there is a stretch of a few warm days on a row and planting them then. I’m sure the yard will look great!

I don't usually comment, but I just had to jump on here and say yes! Farmer's Almanac is definitely a witchcraft book! A coworker and I tried to be mini farmers so we bought the book thinking it was going to tell us when and what to plant... we were not expecting the witchcraftery... now we know when to cut our hair for growth, when to buy a house, when to clean the garage all based on the moon... haha Also, I've just come to view this channel as a person same age as me, learning and growing and figuring out life as it comes and I'm along for the ride. I have watched and will continue to watch. Don't apologize or worry about the changes/directions your channel has gone and will go through. It means you are GROWING! Because honestly, the channels that stick to the same thing for years and years end up becoming so redundant and then they just start reaching for anything just for views and they're authenticity is lost.

I have been watching your channel since the beginning and always look forward to it. You are like one of my friends and i laughed so hard when you brought out the seeds and mealworms...i can totally relate! I tried growing seeds several years ago and failed miserably but then i watched some videos on what to do and decided to try again. I planted mine last week and already have quite a few that have popped up. Now I'm panicking realizing I have way too many plants! The things i learned are you need to use seed starting soil and a heating pad under your tray. And you can plant your trees whenever the ground is thawed enough to dig a hole. I love your way of looking at life...keep doing you!!

Love what you said about the combo of doing what you love, but also getting stuff done... not sure if I got that right, but it reminded me of something I just learned about called "ikigai". It's a Japanese concept, which is basically doing what we're good at, what we enjoy, what the world needs, and what we can get paid for. Just a really cool idea, and would make life so fulfilling if we could check off all four of those boxes! I'm definitely not there yet, but someday! KZbin seems a great fit for you, as long as you are enjoying it! 😃💕

Yay homesteading! This sounds so much like my own progression lol. I jumped in head first and got chickens and quails in 2021 and I garden and can my own food and everything. Its a shit ton of work, but its also very rewarding. Sometimes its a downer because you add so many living things to be responsible for, but that is also a boost in other times knowing that even if you dont feel like you've got much going on that at least you've kept all these other things alive? If that makes sense. Anyway, im all for the lean in. You gotta jump sometimes and learn along the way. P.s. those survival seed things are a scam for the most part. Its best to pick a reliable seed company - even just the ones they sell at lowes are generally better than the Amazon packs. If you want to get really squirrely, you can get rabbits because their poop is like GARDEN GOLD. Lol anyway best of luck. Im here for it.

Hi! So some seeds are crappy and have low germination rates so it is important to buy seeds from a reputable place. Also some seeds do need to be cold stratified or they do take a very long time to germinate. I recommend Luke from MIgardener here on youtube. Hes been doing these videos for a really long time and he has tons of videos for the at home gardeners. His channel has been so helpful and educational for me. I've been container gardening for a few years now and I started the same way you did. I have a ridiculous amount of seeds and idk why! lol! Also Luke sells seeds as well and they have damn near 100% germination rate and I've had the seeds for years now.

We have a homestead in VT. My guess is the seeds are past their prime and has little to do with you. But, you might try a seed starting heat mat if it's still cold in Colorado. You don't need lights until they've popped up, unless that's for warmth. And chickens are little devils. Try and find someone with adult hens if you don't want roosters.
