I asked this all the way back on the first episode, but do you think you could show the rare Bowser Space events? More specifically, the ones in Mario Party 1, like where Bowser steals coins from you just because he doesn't like you if everyone wins his minigame, but I think the other games also have rare events (like the obvious 100 Star Present, or landing on the space with no coins or stars) that would be worth showing off

As much as another video would be appreciated, all of the yellow events in Bowser's wheel have Bowser escaping. Except for Mario Party 10, I think, where instead of giving 1,000 mini stars he gives you 1 and tells you to go away.

I'm more interested in the alternate Bowser minigame outcomes if everyone wins/loses, or if you run into him with no coins/stars

In DS, however, the roulette can stop on the orange highlighted option, but only for a second; Bowser rigs it to select something entirely different. It should go without saying that it happens during the Final Five Frenzy.

I wish they'd bring the lottery shop back honestly. I always thought it was a cool risk/reward system. Granted, not a particularly great one since the risk is hardly meaningful, but getting lucky can allow you to snag the coin star and potentially win the whole game because of it. I had that exact thing happen to me in Shy Guy's Jungle Jam, where I was lagging behind a COM in the coin count. On the last turn, I stopped by the lottery shop, got the ball minigame, and won 30 coins from it, giving me just enough to claim the coin star and win the game. It can make for some interesting plays and I love it for that. Really do wish they'd bring it back.

I’ve always wondered why it would be so hard to win the star ticket at the end of the game. If each player played the lottery and got a ticket, with each of their characters being different with no overlap, somebody would HAVE to win, but there always seems to be times where multiple players get, say, Mario as the first character on their cards and the game chooses someone like Donkey Kong. All my life I have NEVER seen someone win one of those things at the end of the game.

Same for me, played Mario party 4 hundreds of times with friends and have gotten 1st prize at the scratch card game a few times and at least once with the ball game, but never gotten a star from the end of game ticket lottery

Great video as usual. A little oddity that I found is that the CPUs/computer characters NEVER win the Scratch Off minigame, ever. They can win the ball one but always pick a "Try again" scratch card (regardless of difficulty).

I've asked this before, but can you do an analysis on the Koopa Bank? Specifically, can it get full on coins? Same for the Bowser Bank in MP2, is there a maximum withdrawal limit?

In a 50-turn play in Mario Party 3, I was able to get as much as 97 coins in the Koopa Bank, so I would assume it can hold an infinite amount. As for the variation in MP2's Bowser Land, the Bowser Bank, it is essentially the opposite, albeit risky. After taking the loan, the next time a player lands on the Bank Space at any given point, that player's pockets will be pretty much emptied out. If a Star is in possession, that will be taken, but only if the player in question has no coins to fork over. Take my advice; avoid that loan!

John Luke Corpus Unfortunately, no one is neither spared nor benefited from this, as this is _the_ only time Bowser takes coins. Interestingly, in Mario Party 2, if the player assigns Donkey Kong as a CPU, his description reads that he "thinks he can whip Bowser in a fight". I can only surmise that it only happens at that moment in Mario Party 5.

Btw in SMP 2v2, your controller will vibrate while you’re walking if you pass a hidden block, so pay attention as you walk and you could pinpoint a potential star

Somehow I don’t think the scratch game odds are really 1/12 for each prize... I tabulated 907 lottery playings that occurred naturally in my own games (both myself and CPUs), and came up with this: Ticket - 455 total games 1st: 14 (3.08%) 2nd: 9 (1.98%) 3rd: 14 (3.08%) Loss: 418 (91.87%) Ball - 452 total games 1st: 6 (1.33%) 2nd: 56 (12.39%) 3rd: 83 (18.36%) Loss: 307 (67.92%) So the ball game probabilities seem consistent with the video, but for the ticket game, it seems more like there’s only one winning ticket at a time, and that one ticket is equally likely to be any of the three prizes.

I think I know why and it's because of the CPUs. The computer characters ALWAYS fail the Scratch game. It's a little weird but they always pick a bad ticket. They can win the ball one however.

Regarding the ball side of the lottery, in one play I just witnessed two CPUs, one after another, get third prize. Unbelievably, both won the exact same item, which was a Super Mega Mushroom.

Hmm, that's odd. I didn't have to test the scratch off ticket multiple times because a save state revealed all the tickets each and every time. If I used the same save state and picked the top right ticket every time, it would always be the same result. So every time I picked the first place ticket for that save state, it was always the same one, same for the other two prizes. This was the case for all six times I did this. And I just saw the comment below about CPUs always picking a bad ticket, that might explain it!

It's easier to change some of the values of items you have but to change the deeply routed algorithm of the dice availability and the random nature of the numbers generated I can only assume is significantly harder and prone to unprecedented problems.

Here’s a rarity: In Mario Party 6, two people won at once in a single duel mini game. No tie. In one game, Lunar-tics, two people have tied with the same margin from zero, but from early and late. As a result, there is not a tie, but both players won.

For the Last 5 Turns draw, I assume that the game will re-roll to prevent handing out identical tickets to different players? I would hope so, or that would require programming in another edge of multiple players winning it. When are those tickets determined by the way? It seems like it would be possible to just generate each player's ticket at the beginning of the game, but I could see it being generated at the beginning of the turn or when the player enters the shop too.

How about a Rare Oddities where we see which MPs have the dice pre-determined or random? I know from you that it's pre-determined in DS, and my personal testing shows it's also like that in 1. 2 & 3 is random, though there seems to be some sort of timing based on the setup I use. I wasn't able to test beyond 3.

For MP1-3 Opponents dice rolls are normally pretermined, however If you pause before they hit the dice block, and adjust a setting (in MP3 speed for instance) it changes what they'll hit and their actions

Could you record what Bowser says to each character in Mario Party 8's DK's Treetop Temple? When a character lands on a Bowser space, there is some dialogue before the star is moved, but the dialogue is character-specific (and I have not found a comprehensive list anywhere on the Internet).

In the ball game of the Lottery Shop, a yellow ball is 1st prize, a red ball is 2nd, a blue is 3rd, and a white is nothing. In the "Scratch Cards" game of the Lottery Shop, a "1" is 1st prize, a "2" is 2nd, a "3" is 3rd, and a "LOOK AGAIN!" is nothing. There are twelve cards. While 1 card has a "1", and 1 card has a "2", and 1 card has a "3", the other 9 are all a "LOOK AGAIN!". The 1st prize is 100 coins, the 2nd prize is 50 coins, and the 3rd prize is a Mushroom (Triple Mega or Double Mini). If you get the 3rd prize and have three items already, you can't have the Mushroom. Triple Mega and Double Mini Mushrooms also can be won in Lottery Shops you know. If bought from an Item Shop, they cost 15 coins (expensive than a Double Mega and Single Mini Mushroom).

I was drawing up all the possibilities of the lottery ticket drawing and it does make sense what he's saying about having a 1.5% shot at earning a star. Let's say Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Wario are playing on Goomba's Greedy Gala and Mario is given a ticket that may present one character occupying all 3 spaces (4 ways), 1 character occupying 2 spaces with someone else taking 1 space (36 ways), or any 3 characters occupying 1 space a piece (24 ways). All Mario has is a 1/64 (1.5625%) chance of earning a star in the last 5 turns event. Heavily unlikely? Yes. Impossible? Not really. The odds are just against you. For anyone looking for a time-efficient way of arriving at this instead of using the hand-drawn version, it's very simple: 1/((# characters on board)^(# of ticket spaces)).

The Grab Bag? Yeah, you'd have to be _extremely_ lucky to pick it up at the shop. If I remember correctly, it holds a Block Sensor, a Star Pipe and a Triple Dice Set, albeit at the cost of discarding one's own items, but the aforementioned item can only be bought during the last few turns of a 20, 25, or 30-turn game. Of course, in the respective game.

they can only be in the last turns, and the grab bag has a rare chance, its better to do it on 30 turns, the chance is then higher then on 10 turns. the block sensor is yet rarer then the grab bag because it only can be spawned in the grab bag item. ah, I remember finding that item when I was young
