Your “what if then what?” tattoo discussion is SO interesting to me bc those kinds of questions make me IRATE whenever someone asks them. My anxiety is often so irrational that a “what’s the worst that could happen?” question just makes me feel stupid for feeling the way I do about it. Especially when asked in the middle of a freakout about a future scenario. I’m glad it works for you though! And it was so interesting to hear about another person’s completely contrasting experience
@itsnadia82 жыл бұрын
Your perspective is definitely valid! I feel like from Lauren’s explanation this reasoning works for her during therapy which is a more reflective time rather than an active anxiety attack. And I think the rationale helps by accepting your anxiety can stupid and unreasonable and all those negative things NOT you. Your anxiety is an extension of you but it doesn’t reflect you as a person. So quotes like that can help break down the big scary walls around whatever is causing you anxiety. Again your perspective is totally valid just wanted to help give another view!

With my anxiety the "what if" questions are so derailing and I'm constantly trying to prepare for the worst- so interesting how there can be many different interpretations!
@allysaparales2 жыл бұрын
Wow I feel the exact same way but I totally understand Lauren’s perspective too! Personally, I definitely do get more anxiety when asked that question because it just leads me to think of more worst scenarios.
@robisar012 жыл бұрын
@@itsnadia8 That’s a great way to look at it! I guess I just immediately associate the statement with the unhelpful questioning that my parents often do when I’m mid-attack. But if I was calm and reflecting, I may not have such a negative response to it. I’ll have to try it sometime (though it may take me a while to warm up to the idea 😅)
@laurDIYvlogs2 жыл бұрын
just want to say that if someone asked “what’s the worst that could happen” during an anxiety attack I would punch them directly in the mouth HAHAHAHAH this only works for me when I’m doing positive self talk and feel like I’m strengthening myself leading up to an anxious situation, cuz I 100% feel u

For me, my most insecure feature of my body is my skin because of my scars from bug bites, etc, so my tattoos are something I can control and be confident in. So when my family comments on me getting a tattoo I tell them you know what, it’s my body and i feel more confident and happy because of it

I love the “what if, then what” that will actually help me so thank you for that! I love tattoos also, my rule for tattoos is if I like something I sit on for like 4-6 months (unless I know I really want it), and for the when you’re older part, I’m looking forward to when I’m old and wrinkly cause I’m gonna look at each one of my tattoos and see a memory and feel love, sadness, happiness. A tattoo is a piece of art a memory that you will always keep with you. 🖤

The "what-if, then what" part was EXACTLY what I needed to hear! My social anxiety always makes me think and feel like something bad is going to happen when I leave my house. I can't afford therapy so I've been looking for advice or techniques online, on how to overcome the anxiety when it hits. Who would have thought Lauren would talk about her personal experience with social anxiety and the advice her therapist gave her! That is EXACTLY what I've been trying to google! I'm now going to use that technique next time my anxiety is really bad. 😊❤👍🏻 Thank you, Lauren!

I watched this video yesterday when it came out and I wanted to come on here today, 07/30, and say that I have already, on multiple occasions, asked myself “what if, then what?” I have declared myself many times the most anxious person alive, and honestly that one phrase ignited something within me. Not much helps and therapy isn’t financially doable for me right now, but I very much appreciate the information and/or content. I would really even love a video like “10 best things I learned in therapy for anxiety”. I feel like that would help a lot of people. Anyway, just wanted to say thank you and you really helped me today multiple times. Thanks for what you do.

I loved your talk about tattoos🥺 I’m a tattoo artist, and the reason I do what I do is because tattoos have helped heal me. They make me feel more at home in my body. They helped a ton with my body dysmorphia. I love creating pieces that make people happy, and hopefully help them feel more like themselves. It’s a way of taking control of your body, and expressing yourself. But yes, definitely always think it through! It’s permanent. If an tattooist ever makes you feel uncomfortable, or doesn’t listen to your input on the design. You don’t have to get it. You can walk out. I’ve been in situations like so and heard many stories from others as well. The tattoo artists top priority should be making a client feel safe and heard. It’s an honour to do something so personal and permanent. I’ll never take that for granted☺️

I love tattoos. I love how they look, I love how they feel, I love getting them, and most importantly, I love how I look with them. I feel sexy and confident and cool, and not because I care about how other people see me, but because I love what I see in the mirror, and that's what truly matters. I used to be so worried about what my family would say or think because they aren't the biggest fans of tattoos (they're very religious, judgmental and passive aggressive), but I recently realized at the ripe old age of 27 that I really don't care anymore. It's my body and if I want to dye my hair or get tattoos that I love or that mean something to me I can and no one else's opinion matters because no one owns my body but me. One of the most liberating realizations for me honestly, and I've been significantly happier since having it. Fuck it, get that tattoo you want. Make yourself happy.

Second skin seems like a good idea, but it’s not really necessary! You want to keep the plastic wrap that your tattoo artist puts on for like a day, but after that you should wipe the bleeding ink off with water and gentle soap and then let it breathe. New tattoos need to breathe in order to heal properly, and second skin (although it is kind of breathable) is a little extra and just unnecessary. I say this as an experienced tattoo artist who has tried second skin before, and I find that the old school way of just keeping plastic wrap on for a day then letting it breathe, and then let it do its thing!
@eternaldawn16092 жыл бұрын
I haven’t even heard of the cling wrap staying on for a day. All my pieces small to even huge ones has been for about an hour then wash twice a day 🤷♀️ I think it depends on the artists preference and what they recommend
