For the TMJ, I recommend going to your dentist to get a mouth guard for the night time! I cannot tell you how much it helped me personally, and also dentists are specialized in jaws and stuff like that so they can definitely help you/give you good advice for that sort of thing.

I worked in Oral Surgery and TMJ problems were alot of our cases. Therapy, exercises, alternate heat and ice, night guard for sure will help. Would like to hear about the botox injection for yours. Glad you enjoyed your Malibu dog friendly belated B Day trip!!!!

About your TMJ: I used to have problems with that, and it was because of my anxiety, and how I would clench my jaw and grind my teeth while I slept. I went to the dentist and they got me a custom fit mouth guard. It has help a lot, and now my jaw rarely hurts. Maybe a couple times a year. Best of luck!

In dental school what we’ve been taught about TMD (temperomandibular disorder - TMJ is the jaw joint itself :)) is it depends on what part of the jaw and what muscle is the cause. Some things we recommend if it is muscle-based is alternating ice and heat, stretches, NSAID painkillers, and figuring out the cause of stress. Nightguards too! I hope this helps!!
