Foreigners seeking Moroccan citizenship must meet specific criteria: -Residency: The individual must have continuously lived in Morocco for at least five years. -Legal Capacity and Good Character: An applicant must be of legal age and possess a clean criminal record. -Integration into Moroccan Society: Proficiency in the Arabic language and evidence of integration into Moroccan social and cultural life are vital.

In order to get her residency card she does not need to live in the country for 5 years. Nor does she or anyone else need to know Arabic/Darija. Moving to Morocco takes time and there are always lots of hoops to jump through. Once she obtains her 1 year residency card she will then get her 10 yr and will have to renew every 10 years.

Nearly true. I didn't know one word of darija. Evidence of integration was name people that you know. I just pulled names out of a hat cos I didn't know anyone. I had also only been in the country for 2 months when i applied. I also didn't have the kind of money in my account that she's talking about. I did have to show my uk accounts and proof of regular income though. I got one year followed by 3 years. Who knows what I'll get when that's renewed. Maybe it's regionally different. Hey I’m Moroccan born there and Australian it’s very hard to get a Moroccan citizenship. But i trust you cuz you probably know better than me. I have been in Australia for 15 years i became an Australian citizen in 5 years but they make you work for it so hard. I hope you and the kids are Moroccan citizens soon ❤

You can get Moroccan citizenship if you are married to a Moroccan 3 years and have lived in Morocco 5 straight years . So you would have done a 1 year, 3 year, then be past 1 year into your 10 year residence and you can apply for citizenship but… it’s free!! Yup citizenship costs nothing !! You have your husband writes a letter stating he wants you to be a Moroccan citizen. And prove you can somewhat speak Darija enough to communicate . That’s about it I think

Learned a lot, and kids learn so much. Now I have a question regarding the 10.000 dollars in an account: Is that amount enough, or does the government also want you in addition to show income stubs? And, every time you apply new to keep your residence, your account always have to have 10.000 dollars plus in it?

I don’t think you will face any problems applying for residency in Morocco, the important requirement is the money in the bank they will ask for the last three statements means the last three months before applying , the judicial record ( FBI document ) , a title of a land or a house if you own one it’s not a problem if you don’t have one but if you do it make your case favorable , after you are approved you will get a residency card valid for one year, then before the expiring date you need to repeat the same process but this time they won’t ask for the judicial record , just the money must be enough around 10$K , this time you will get a residency card valid for three years not one year like the first one , after the three years card expires you will apply again and the process is the same as the second time. , but after three years you will get a residency card valid for ten years which is the last step . This process is for Americans only who wants to live in Morocco . I hope the informations i presented above are helpful madame Erin.

Hi Erin, are you talking about Temporary Residency (Registraion) or Permanent Residency? It sounds like Registration - because I thought Permanent residence (as it is called in some countries) takes 4 or 5 years and you haven't been there that long. I think citizenship is possible after 5 years in Morocco, but it takes some work/good ties to the country and is not automatic (I live in Thailand so I think I need to get a Thai Police report too - they are issued in English to ALL foreigners in Thailand. According to the moroccan citizienship law it is possible to become moroccan, but sure like other countries under some requierments. With the moroccan Citizenship or not , you are moroccan and welcome.

This question is repeated over and over in the Facebook groups. Get a police report from your home city in the USA. No one I’ve ever met has done fingerprints !! They get a police report and it’s accepted . Just have it translated
