She explained that much of this decision is medically based due to her stoma - there's basically a deadline her doctor's have set to have "her family planning done sooner rather than later"
@ameliajoanne4 жыл бұрын
hi, stoma owner and ulcerative colitis patient here! hannah still has her rectal stump and the rectum is a biiiiig site for inflammation with UC. having active inflammation in the rectum increases our risk of bowel cancer the longer we experience inflammation, so removing the rectal stump is important. however, the two pathways to remove the stump involve surgery that can cause scar tissue to the reproductive organs. not much is really known about this but it’s generally considered safer and more viable to have kids before having future surgeries. there are probably other reasons hannah is choosing now too, but medically this is something that weighs on us ostomates a bit more than most people
@LizTiddington4 жыл бұрын
@@SuperHackwurscht Yes, I get this is 100% part of not only the timing, but also having a proper talk with Dan about whether they want kids. But I'm sure other people who get a similar ultimatum go "ok, fair enough, in that case I definitely don't want kids", and I'd love to know what 'wanting kids' really feels like! @ashleymaginnis36414 жыл бұрын

I am going to enjoy watching this series 😊 good luck to you both Hannah!

Crazy to think I've been a part of your channel from way before you started the hormone diaries.. time flies when you're having fun I guess🤣✨

i absoluteeeeeelllyyy love how youve decided to share about your fertility before you've actually become pregnant because I feel like it gives people the ability to understand the joys and difficulties of ttc. often the media feels so pressurising whereas this feels so true and authentic. this is why I love your content

It’s so touching watching this video because I’ve been following your account since you were single and just out of Uni. To see you get married and now want a baby is crazy! My favorite KZbinr has grown so much! Xx

Oh god, whenever you talked about coughing, I had to cough :D So so happy to hear about your plans! It actually means a lot to me that you're so open about it, sadly in my social circle it's a bit of a taboo. Excited to see the next videos about tracking fertility and stuff, my partner and I are planning to start trying soon and I love hearing about other peoples experiences! I know Dan doesn't really appear on KZbin but I'd be suuuper interested in finding out about the 'mens' experience. As in, is it a lot of pressure for him, things like that! I feel like we often forget about the partners in the process of getting pregnant, most information is for the person who wants to have the baby in their womb. Lots of love to you! xx

The intro was such a throwback!! The nostalgia is real!!! I haven't seen your channel in a few years but this came up in my reccomendations and it's so nice to see your face and be with you on this journey! I feel the same on being honest about it with the people in my life 💗💗💗

Im actually really excited that you've brought back this series! It just so happens I had my coil taken out in March of last year, and have also been going on a similar journey since then. This is so awesome and I look forward to seeing more! X)

I loved the original series which I watched in 2016 when I was getting married. Now in 2021 my husband and I have been talking about when we want to start family planning so this is great timing for me. I’m so excited for this series. Thank you for being vulnerable and open with us about this journey.

Aw I started watching Hormone Diaries when I went off the pill as I was interested in what I could expect. I now have two children 👶🏽👶🏽 good luck I really hope it's smooth sailing for you 🤞

DELIGHTED by this series revival, not only because I loved the first round a few years ago, but also because your observation that these stories are never told before an outcome has been reached is really astute. This is a great addition to the content around this topic!

Looking forward to watching this new journey! I’d like to see “What not to say to someone who’s trying to get pregnant” and something along the lines of what would happen if you couldn’t get pregnant. Me and my partner have had “the talk”. We are on different pages at the moment. (He doesn’t want kids and I do at some point in the future.) I’m not trying to change his mind and I’m not thinking too much about it right now as it’s not the right time for either of us. Another video idea could be what you would do if one of you wanted children and the other didn’t, and how you would go about it.

I don't want to intrude, but different opinions on wanting kids is normally a dealbreaker for relationships
@amara5604 жыл бұрын
I agree with Emma. It is usually a big point where there is no compromise possible. It's usually people discuss early on in a relationship.
@Beccalovesall974 жыл бұрын
Depending on his age and where he is in life, could potentially impact wether he will change his mind or not. I've been with my fiance 7 years (got together at 16&18). At the start and for a good 3 or so years he was adamant, no babies, ever. Then he's grown up and found his lifes passion and is working towards it. Now he wants children in our near future. It might happen for you. It might not. Fingers crossed it works out either way x

Thank you all for your advice and messages! With regards to my personal situation with wanting children, I am still currently working out if it’s a dealbreaker for me or not. Will I feel like I’ve missed out on something if I don’t have kids? What will my life look like with or without kids? Will I be a good parent in the first instance? These are the questions I’m thinking deeply about before deciding where the relationship is going.

@@chlobobass yes girl! Being in tune with yourself and understanding your wants and needs are key to success in any area of life. It will all work out with a little work and time x

I never comment, but wanted to say thank you for making this video series. My husband and I have also been trying to get pregnant, and it has been an isolating experience. There is so much content for pregnant humans (trying to be gender-neutral here) and for those experiencing infertility, but not a lot of information about the often long and emotional process of that first year of trying to get pregnant. Even just the process of going off birth control and the ways that affects the body has been so relatable and lovely to watch. Thank you again

It must be so hard to post about this journey when you're in the middle of it. We were ridiculously lucky with how quickly I got pregnant both times, but there is a huge amount of emotion (and hormones) involved even then. Hope it goes well for you

Oh my, I've just realised that I've been following you since before 2016! I'm so glad I've been following your journey for so long and you helped me through some tough times. In december 2017 I was also in the hospital, undergoing several injuries and getting out in march 2018 with a life long handicap. Following you through your journey help me accept and live with my handicap better that I could ever imagine. Thank you ♥️

I would love it if more people without uteruses could understand how much time we spend listening to/monitoring/recording our cycles - it’s a big responsibility and requires a lot of mental energy. From the moment we hit puberty we have to get SUPER familiar with our bodies! Fascinating but hard work. Best of luck on your journey Hannah!

I can't believe you were able to get the coil taken out! I've needed my implant replaced for months (UK) and they refuse to do it because of covid

I had to wait a LONG time to have my coil taken out because of covid. I even tried to get an appointment with a private doctor of gynaecologist. I guess it depends on the capability of your GP depending on where you live. In my GP, they put me on a waiting list and then I had a call a few months later. I was starting to get desperate so I know how you feel :(

Really? I just got a copper coil fitted and they did it same day I asked for it. Have you tried different sexual health clinics?
@kirstyt85124 жыл бұрын
Yes, I needed the IUD out due to horrible pain after an ultrasound found it places incorrectly. I was told it would be at least 3 months before my appointment in the women’s hospital!!

you said "lets go back to the beginning," and the first day that you went back to, July 2nd, is my birthday! It is also the day in the year that has exactly the same number of days in the year before and after. You started this journey on a very balanced day, right smack in the middle of cancer season if astrology is your thing. truly wishing you all the best, sending you all of my birthday energy, and excited for you on this journey!

Good luck on your pregnancy journey Hannah! Thanks for sharing and also feel free to not share until you're happy to. Having it taken out makes me feel grim too (I've had 2 out so far - next one coming out will hopefully be baby time for me!) Baby making sex would be super interesting as a video - especially if you're tracking ovulation etc, does it change anything about it? Does it make it less sexy? More sexy because you're trying to make a human? Does it change anything about consent (obvs. within reason etc.) I'm also intrigued about how you'll be managing a baby and social media.

Thanks Caz!! Yeah definitely something to think about - I do really like how Mel is managing the sharing and privacy but oh boy she's still getting harrassed with people asking for pics of his face and what his name is!!

Thank you for making this series!! I’m currently pregnant after IVF and was so frustrated that it felt like everyone I knew got pregnant easily- that’s not always the case!! No one talks about the trying part and I’m so glad it’s becoming less of a taboo. Good luck with your journey

Love the way you so elegantly spoke about peoples assumptions about when you should/be able to get pregnant. So many women struggle behind the scenes and to be so in someone's face about what you assume is the normal, is horrendous x

Thank you for bringing this series back! I loved watching your story progress in 2016. I got my copper IUD out in October and had my period the day after. It was perfectly timed! I got pregnant in my first cycle, which was a huge shock to me! I thought it would take around 6 months! Now I'm 12 weeks pregnant

I highly recommend the app Flo! It let's you log your symptoms without bleeding. You can also log discharge and ovulation! If you use premium( I think) it reminds you of when you'll start certain symptoms based on you log history.

This was my favorite series of yours years ago, I’ve really missed it! I’m also trying to get pregnant with a pre-existing medical complication. It’s not easy!! Been trying over 18 months with two miscarriages. But creators like you sharing your story make it easier, like I’m not so alone. So glad you’re documenting, and that this is part of the hormone diaries!!!!!

I am very excited about this series! A friend of mine is pregnant and it has got me thinking a lot about wanting my own kids in a few years. My coil still lasts 2,5 years so it's a future thing but I really appreciate being able to learn more about fertility and female health. Can't wait to see where this journey takes you!
