Getting my epidural.

Eh, I don't see why everyone is hating on the anesthesiologist. I'd take a quiet and focused doc to get it over with as quick as possible and concentrating on what he's doing over a talky talky unfocused doc who thinks he's a comedian, any day.

Both of mine were quiet. They make a f*** up they can paralyze their patient. In both of my experiences it was a nurse who was talking me through what the anesthesiologist was doing and being the comforting person. After it was done since I was a csection, the anesthesiologist sticks around and during the surgery they were a little more talkative and very nice.

Took that like a champ! I'm due in less than a month and absolutely scared to death. Needles don't bother me, but the whole idea of a big shot in my back doesn't appeal to me.

The dr. in my opinion did I great job, focused and straight to doing what he’s supposed to do, the nurses are usually more helpful than this one, it helps to hold a pillow, and again most nurses are the ones that should be holding you, preparing you for each step and encouraging you, till it’s over. The medical instruments of course are going to clang and bang a bit, i found the t.v. more annoying, or you just have a good microphone. Congratulations on your new arrival.

wow u took that like a CHAMP! maybe i was farther in to my labor than u but when i had my epidural u could hear my scream from outside i bet! that crap hurts badddd!

i just barely saw all these comments i dont know why I don't get notifications for them. yeah i didnt like that dr at all. the guy sitting down who wouldn't hold my hand is my husband i didnt really care though because my best friend/little sister was there. to the person who said i didnt look like i was in enough pain to get the epidural i actually was i just dont express pain like others might and my contractions were over lapping plus things went really fast after i got it but ill admit i probably could of gone longer but im okay that i didnt. it wasn't too bad of an experience but the dr could of for sure had better bedside manner. getting the epidural didnt hurt at all.

No it doesn't hurt with all the contractions and back labor you only feel mostly pressure of the needle and medicine going in.

did it hurt? Not sure I could do that.. I'd rather have regular pain meds. glad I wont have to face that desicion having had my tube tied. I have a genetic nuero condition I did not want to pass on so I got sterilized. I do know first hand needles+ backs = PAIN!. never had an epidural but I have had spinal taps and hate those.

My due date is 10/10/14 and I'm so scared. I know I'm getting the epideral though. If my doctor is an ass like that while I'm in labor ill slap him. Same goes to that guy sitting down. If I ask u to hold my hand u better fucking hold it when I'm in active labor. DIcks.. anyways I'm a first mommy lol

When I had my youngest they fucked up my back with the epidural ever since my back hurts to the point I can barely move. The epidural didn't even work I felt everythi.g didnt hurt too bad,but it did burn

they are usually always serious like that. They are Doctors and if they make one wrong move it can kill the person or paralyze them. They are concentrating on finding the epidural space of the spine, inserting a tube into a very specific space that will administer very powerful drugs.

Just saw this video. It is very sad how uncaring, unprofessional and rude this anesthesia provider is. I am a nurse Anesthesiologist who places labor epidurals and would never treat a patient like this. He is an embarrassment to the profession! Keep the faith, there are better providers out there for you. I'm sorry you had to experience this. Is that really your husband that wouldn't hold your hand? He should be ashamed!

Hygiene of physician? Patient and physician should war caps to prevent hair falling onto instruments. Wearing a probably unclean coat with sleeves hanging down. Watch should be removed befor procedure. Does not really wait a second that there is time for the local anesthesia to work. Procedure otherwise swiftly done. Physician seems not to speak with patient at all, does not warn before applying cold disinfectant swabs, really dull and not really empathic. Overworked?

shannon mcco well, I had my boy when I was 29 and married...I LOOKED very young...and I’m only 4 feet, 10 inches...sometimes people look young, but aren’t...I was even asked once by a stranger if newborn was mine..

Also...there are very young moms who are amazing at being moms...it is natural. I would have loved to have been a young mom.
