I have never ever heard anyone suggest just putting the baby down and letting them cry for 5 minutes while you recoup. That is the best advice on the planet, I'm so happy this was mentioned. I think sometimes people just need a second, just in that moment, to relax and breath and get themselves together before they lose it. Thank you so much for this suggestion. I think it will be a life saver for me when I decide to start my family. Sometimes you just need to breathe and being told it's ok to just set them down for a minute in a safe place while you just collect yourself is such a simple thing that definitely needs to be said.

This is my advice for my friends as they consider having children. If you’re noticing you’re losing control of your own emotions, if you’re feeling extremely frustrated and just need a moment, put the baby down in a safe place like their crib, and walk away for a moment. Breathe and calm down, take a few sips of your maybe lukewarm coffee and come back. Baby will be okay and you’re taking note of your own emotional state in order to keep you both healthy. It has to be talked about more!

@@whoknows322 Well yeah, you’re just meant to put them down to collect yourself so you don’t get so frustrated that you end up doing something you can’t take back, either to yourself or the baby. If you find you’re setting them down more often than holding them and things are too overwhelming most of the time, it definitely could be postpartum depression or it could just be exhaustion and you need a real break. My family has just begun, we haven’t hit the 2 week purple crying phase yet, I don’t imagine I’ll have to use this, but I certainly will if necessary. I have help right now, but my husband has to go back to work sometime.

One of my friends told me that there’s no shame in wearing earplugs. So I wear them! Even to bed. They’re not good enough to cover baby’s cries, but they cover the little coos and make the cries not as awful to hear. Anything that allows you to safely and properly care for your child while maintaining sanity is a win!

I had six boys. They're now 26 to 15, including a set of twins. You'll get it and go with what baby tells you. I nursed mine all the time for at least a year, but it was easy for me. You can never love a baby too much. Trust your instincts and medical knowledge in your cases. Don't overthink it. Each baby is who they are and will need different things. Enjoy their tinyness; it goes by way too fast.

Questions: Carseats: 1. If you get a hand-me-down infant carseat (the kind that is not convertible, clicks into your stroller, and is only usable for baby's first 5-6 mos) from someone who got it brand new in the last 2-3 years, is that okay to use as long as it is not past its manufacturer expiration date? Asking because carseats are one of the pricier newborn items (for good reason) and an expense that some new parents may need to weigh in relation to other baby necessities. So getting a good condition, non-expired, infant seat second hand might give a little breathing room to cash strapped parents who could use a little time to save up for a convertible infant-to-toddler size seat. 2. What if you don't drive or have a car? Like, you're literally going to walk out of the hospital directly to public transit to take your baby home? Still can't leave the hospital without a carseat?? This has been very different (in my experience) from country to country. For example, in many Asian countries its expected that most people will use public transit and carseats are not required by law when riding in taxis, so they're more of a suggestion than a necessity (unless you do have your own car, which is not so common in most places in Japan or HK, for instance). What say you? Safe Sleep: What about babies that bedshare? Can you please outline the Safe Sleep Seven & give guidance on Safe bedsharing practices? Even parents who have no intention of bedsharing will inevitably bring their baby into their bed for a nighttime feed & then fall asleep: or fall asleep feeding/holding baby in a chair or in the sofa. What can parents do to set up a safe shared sleeping environment to be prepared for the event that they may unintentionally fall asleep with baby in their bed or in their arms elsewhere?

Just in case anyone is worried about this: your doctor will not take away your baby if you tell them you might have post partum depression. Another thing about the car seat. Check with your local firestation. If they have a certified person on their staff they can often do a car seat check to make sure it's secured properly and to ensure the baby has the correct seat for their size (meaning you can get checked again as the baby grows)

Take your time, the health of the mom, the baby and their bonding are paramount. 🙂👍 If they persist, send them a couple of photos and a date in the future where you might be fine with a visit. Sleep is the key. How much time should the baby sleep depending on the age. Child should sleep daily: Newborn babies up to 20 hours If they are 0-12 months - 15-18 hours 1-3 years - 12-14 hours 3-6 years - 11-12 hours 6-12 years - 10-11 hours 8-9 hours - over 12 (some children need a lot more sleep during adolescence) Healthy sleep is most important either for Children and adults to function normally. While children are asleep they improve their memory and remember more what they learned during the day. They process information and emotions. Healthy sleep has regenerative benefits and reduces the risk of overweight and obesity.

Thank you so much for all of these tips, definitely good to be able to watch these videos before the baby actually arrives (in my case in roughly months, yey :) as I have a feeling there won't be much time to sit down and put KZbin on once the little one is there..! ;) Best of luck everyone xxx

I still have to think about scandinavia for example Finnland. They give out a baby Box for every mother and the babies sleep in those boxes with a blanket. To my information Finnland has one of the lowest sids rates worldwide.

So much time spent feeding! I tracked feeds from weeks 2-3 and spent 6.5hrs average each day just breastfeeding over 10-12 feeds. Add in burping time and thats a full time job!

Speaking of carseats, what are your thoughts on the absolute baby essentials? I'd be curious to see what your thoughts are now vs. after the baby is here!

Ooooh me too! We just filmed a nursery tour with what we thought were the “essentials” that we will release in 2 weeks-but I think we will totally re-edit and release again after she shows up!!

I love your guys’ content and the part at the end about it being OK to let your baby cry for five minutes will actually make a huge difference to my day even though my baby doesn’t cry very much, when she does, I feel like I’m failing and it’s really hard emotionally. Definitely disappointed in your stance on vaccines, but I still appreciate your channel! On that note, can you provide a list of all of the ingredients in all of the vaccines you are saying are absolutely necessary? Along with that, the information from the CDC website about how toxic and dangerous most of those ingredients are. At least that way the parents watching this can know the dangers of vaccines along with the fact that you recommend them and they can make an informed decision based on the ingredients and not just that two doctors along with others recommend them. Thanks!

can you put up a video of how early to take appointments with pediatricians for your baby? If you set up with a pediatrician after the child is born, will they see them quick enough for day 3 of life visit etc?

This was great research for my book! Also, my mom was told by the hospital to feed me every hour (all day and night long) for the first two months, luckily she didnt after telling my grandma about this and realizing it was wrong, but why would the hospital recommend this? Does anybody have any ideas? I was average weight for my size btw. I only started being underweight as a toddler.

@Jack-fd3gl Not exactly helpful, considering I'm pagan and do ask the gods for everything already. That includes your god btw, since I believe that all gods are real.
