I have a question, i’ve been dancing since i was 2 and now i’m 11 so for 9 years now but it wasn’t all ballet straight, i’ve done lyrical a lot, i’ve done jazz a lot, ballet for like 3 years, and tap and hip hop, so i have quite a lot of experience with dance, but only 3 years of it was ballet and it was from when i was little, how many years do you think i would have to do ballet to be able to do point?

So I just got my pointe shoes if you are starting from a class for like preschoolers it will probably be like 5 to 7 years probably it took a long while to get them because you have to be quite advanced to be able to get them and your teacher will let you know when you can get them and it depends where you go to for ballet to see around how long it takes for you to get them but thats how long it should be and if you start ballet from being young you will start to be able to get them by 5th grade unless you already passed 5th grade already and you are starting now so around 5 years to 7 I would say is how long it takes

In my case, I had only done ballet for a few months when I was cleared for pointe (for context, I started when I was 13). I really can't say how long you'll need to do ballet before you get pointe shoes because it all really depends on your strength and on when your teacher feels that you are ready to go on pointe, but I thought I'd just let you know how it went for me:) I wish you luck though!! I'm a bit jealous of your dance experience HAHAHA

I use toe pads that are a gel with a thicker tip for extra padding. The reason is bc my feet are sensitive.

If anyone is wonderig when they will go on pointe talk to your teacher! It helps with every sport / dance asking questions I did bjj for 3 years im still doing it but they recently shut down so im startig ballet lol anyway i was super curious when id get my first stripe (a promotion) and i got it after 5 months! When i started going to the beginner classes i less than 2 weeks my teacher had already moved me to the advanced! while some of those kids took years to get into advanced or evetually quit after around another month of training in the advanced i was invited for competition class which is the hardest class and only advanced or competition people are allowed to compete in tournaments so yeah! It all depends.

I am a dancer too and I just got my pointe shoes a few weeks ago and they were not too bad when you go to the store to get them it feels good and doesn't hurt that much but when you start to take pointe class then you can start to feel the pain for me it isnt that bad so far but that might be because I only wear it for like 30 minutes a day in a week but i do have friends who just started with me and for her she says it hurts soooooo bad and she didn't really like to wear them so i guess it depends how strong , advanced, and sensitive your feet are to see if they hurt of not but i think they should feel good. Also the big toe is where all your pressure should be so that should be the only toe that hurts a lot and other than that your feet just feel like they are pointing inside of your shoe with your big toes with all the pressure of your body so thats how much I can explain it to you so hopefully this is helpful!

Im exited because one of my teacher said by next summer ill probably have pointe shoes! by then ill be 11 and it will be my 9th year dancing. i have very flexible ankles and they get sprained alot and i also get shin splints alot does anyone have any tips on how to stop that?

to stop spraining, wear supports, see a doctor and DO 👏 NOT 👏 STRAIN 👏 them! Don’t over work them, do not work too fast and take it slow. You’re only 10/11, so your joints, muscles AND ligaments are still developing. Make sure to warm up for 10 minutes correctly, so you feel a light stretch. And drink water!! And get those correct nutrients!! If you’re constantly eating unhealthy (too little too much etc), that’s not helping either. And don’t dance through the pain! If you’re sore, you physically CANNOT continue. Do not take ‘no’ for an answer otherwise it will delay your opportunity to be en pointe.

It’s different for every studio, but you can go en pointe if you started at a young age, you’ll go on from age 9-12, if you started late, you’ll go on 13-15. I hope this helped! ☺️

i usually go back and forth between Russian pointe (in encore) and Bloch synthesis (major differences lol) and I LOVE cozy toes in both kinds of shoes. my left big toe gets the most pressure so I really need a good toe pad especially during nutcracker lol
