Vey interesting deep dive journalism on The Indefinite Walk. I like his approach of not rushing it by taking time for breaks and visiting around the place. A lot of time I do feel like its easy to miss out things when you are driving instead walking, you get to soak it in and have a better travel experience but taking it slow (as much as your time/money allow)

Hey Doug! I was thinking about what you said. I’m sure your mom washed your hair when you were a kid, either in the tub or over the kitchen sink. You likely just don’t remember. Maybe someday you can save up money to go to a salon for haircut or just a shampoo and style. Or maybe if you ever visit Canada again you could get a haircut or shampoo and style there! 😊

CC. I'll choose by bus and train, but with a mini foldable bicycle so that I could wander around places around my destinations.

Doug, do you ever get shampooed when you get a haircut? If so, could you include that as part of the haircut portion of your video or do a full-length video of the haircut including the shampoo?

Shampooing doesn't seem to be an option at these places. That's actually something that I miss. It was a standard part of a haircut in Canada, and they had the special sinks for that. But these barbershops I come across in Asia usually don't have sinks of any kind. At men's barbershops, you can get a haircut and a shave, but that's it. They don't offer shampooing. I don't think I've ever gotten my hair washed in Asia. It's never been an option for me.

@ I agree! The shampoo is the best part! I’m surprised there are no barbers with the shampoo option where you’ve been. Maybe you could go to a salon sometime and just get a shampoo?

I'm sure some salons offer shampooing. I guess I've just sought out the most simple barbershops for men. I even look for those guys that are cutting hair practically on the street. Getting a haircut with them is always a fun and interesting experience. And it's a lot cheaper. But if I were able to pay more, I think I could find a place where washing your hair is part of the standard cut. I'm not sure this was a thing when I was young. In fact, my mother had her own barber kit when I was young, and she cut our hair. Later on as a teenager, I would go to the supercut kinds of places - the cheap option. But even those places would wash your hair first and THEN you'd get the haircut. I loved that. I do miss it.
