Whenever i straightened my hair with the iron as a child my parents would say lots of people pay a lot of money to have wavy hair but i really hate when she says this....it's as if because people want something i don't want i should keep it ( ´・ω・`) But now i do straightening perms since high school and it's so much better than my cloud-like hair

I’m half japanese and half black, which makes wacky ass hair texture. So every year my family gets me to do the 6 month/permanent straighter since they dont like my natural hair, but honestly its because i’ve been using the wrong products my whole life(I just realized I’ve been using bad/normal straight hair products for my hair). I look good but honestly I hate it. I hate how no one likes my natural look ya know? So I end up cutting off all my hair every year and grow out my natural hair again. sorry if this didn’t make sense, also this is just my experience with straightening my hair every year. I fully support ur decision
@mikanmandarin6 жыл бұрын
honestly what makes a big difference is that i did this as my own choice and because it was something i wanted to do and you seem to be pressured into doing it which sucks :( im happy that you at least found products that help you and i hope that you'll gain the confidence to wear your natural style soon, i think that even if i had nice ringletty curls i'd still hate it for me straight is just much better but i feel sad that you're being pressured into it

For some people (like me), it's not a getting bored with your hair thing, and it's not a hating curly hair thing either. I would love having curly hair if it didn't puff out to a huge triangle of messy, frizzy, kinky hair. No matter what products I use on it, even ones made for curly and dry hair, or what kind of layering or cutting, or tools I use on it. all I can do at the end of the day is tie it up. If it was nice smooth, glossy waves or curls I'd never get my hair straightened, but people with frizzy, puffy hair will understand the daily struggles of keeping your hair manageable. The japanese straight perm feels like a godsend because you literally don't even have to comb your hair and it will look perfect, whereas before I'd be spending so much time applying products, using tools, to tame my hair, and nothing would work anyways. I stopped doing the perm since I'm pregnant now and don't want too much chemicals just in case, but that means I have to cut it short and tie it up all the time.

I’ve been doing that but unfortunately it’s been making my hair very hard to deal with. My hair is thick with very large, wide curls (to the point it’s bordering on the edge of wavy and curly) that it makes my hair harder to deal with :( it works great for other people but my hair has been getting oily (never had that issue before, I only had to wash 1-2x a week to have it look its best) and with all that... came all the hair coming out. CGM requires no hairbrush or heat, but even having my hair down now causes it to tangle to the point that it hurts. My hair is too thick in both volume and how thick each strand is for CGM to work. Almost half a year in and my hair looks unkept and gross the day after a wash, and I’m forced to hide it in a bun because I can’t get the knots out without ripping all my hair out. (Disclaimer: I do believe the CGM works for a lot of curly girls... but it’s not a one size fits all thing. Not every curly girl will have the same results, and for some it leaves their hair worse off.)

I've done this treatment several times, just a recommendation for you if you plan to cut your hair short. If you want to do that, you will have to constantly get the treatment so your newly grown hair won't affect the shape of your hair. It's a total commitment. Trying to go back to natural hair completely can be a total pain as your hair is curlier on the top and while the ends are straight. You'd get a very awkward pattern.

Sorry for the confusion! Once it’s been a year I’m gonna make an update video since I think I said a lot of confusing things so thanks for this point! My curly hair needed daily care, just washing, brushing and drying it took a really long time not to mention styling etc, but with the straightening I just need to redo the roots every few months and it doesn’t take long at all, even with curly hair I’d have to visit a hairdresser every few months so the added care of getting my roots retouched is nothing in comparison to the daily hassle of the curly hair!

I have wavy/curly hair and I started to get frustrated with it again because I go through many products, I spend lots of money to go through trial and error and my hair just can’t seem to be the way I want it to be and it’s mostly times a mess specially when I let it down outdoors. I just want to pick up the flat iron again and straighten it everyday like I used to but had to stop because my hair was so damaged. I also thought of cutting it short and use a straight human hair wig everyday. Trying to tame wavy/curly hair is exhausting. Sometimes I wish I was born with the nice, flowing, smooth and shiny straight hair that gives absolutely no hassle.

@@gigimarquez3314 it's so nostalgic thinking about the thousands of hair related videos I used to watch! but sometimes when I'm brushing my hair, and it's REEEEALLY tangled because of how I slept (。ŏ﹏ŏ) I'm quite greatfull it's straight. remembering the constant complaints I hear about curly hair being hard to brush all the time.

I'm half Puerto Rican and half Honduran, 5'8 ans my hair is a little past shoulder length and curly(a bit more than Mikan's)😌 It's a huge pain to deal with, it gets tangled so quick and I have thought about getting it straightened permanently but my mother doesn't want me to but we both have different hair types so she doesn't understand the struggle I go through to do it😅😅 loved this video Mikan, very informative❤

I have waist length permanently straightened hair with layers. I also just curl my hair ends and I'm good to go. It just takes 5 minutes. So far I have a really good experience with hair straightening.

It looks so good! I'm super happy for you!!! I 100% understand your curly hair struggle. Mine is the exact same way. SUPER thick and curly. Mine is also very long and very coarse. I've ALWAYS HATED my hair. It's so heavy too it gives me constant headaches. I wish I could do this treatment but I bleach my hair so much I don't think I can lol.

I love my curly hair. I use to hate it because I didn’t know how to take care of it. Now it’s so healthy and no longer frizzy. You should’ve looked into the curly girl method.

Tabatha McMurray I used the curly girl method but I would still 100% with out a doubt do this treatment.

I got mine permanent straightening done in 2007 and then in 2008 again summer. Was the best thing I did! I hated using a straightener to make it straight since it took like 2-3 hours at a time.

I know how you feel girl. Getting your hair presentable everyday because of curly hair is tiring. I have very curly hair while my sister has straight hair. I become pissed when she gets brushes it and walks out the door. While I've been fixing my hair for a half an hour.

I did that treatment to my hair many years ago when I had very short hair and the curls looked kinda funny on me. Even after almost 2 years of growing my hair I still had straight ends in my hair from the treatment ^^ But nowdays I've let it grow longer and I actually discovered good methods and products for curly hair and I kinda love the curls now, wouldn't wanna go back for staight anymore. ^^

What do you use for your curly hair to tame the curls and frizz?
@wendychavez51506 жыл бұрын
I relate to this so much because my hair is curly too and I've also struggled with it as well, and I've also wanted straight hair since i was a kid too lololololol . I started watching your videos today and I love them!! I'm going to subscribe to you now ^.^

Hi Mikan, I love your hair both ways, I have a bobbed hair cut with bangs/fringe. When I was little I had wavy hair but it straightened out as I grew. Is it ok if I ask an off topic question? Do you know of any UK online shops that specialise in Japanese/kawaii/pastel Goth style clothes and accessories at affordable prices? I try and look a certain way but the shops where I live are pretty boring. Xx

I’m the opposite. I have really straight hair, curls that aren’t heat induced only last about an hour. I cut my hair to shoulder length in hopes that it will wave a bit. It didn’t, unless it’s kept in a ponytail, but even then it doesn’t last long. I want to get the wave treatment, so it ‘permanently’ waves my hair
