I agree I work in harajuku and the prices are ridiculous. I went to Osaka recently and what picked up for under a 1000 yen was amazing. I get so annoyed by the Tokyo prices sometimes. So I look for the mom and pop shops.

Wow. That building has really nice floors and the wooden details are so pretty. I'd like to go there just ro run around the floors and stairs and stuff. I'd take oictures of the whole building. Gah!! I can't get over how nice that building is!!! For a school!!

I 100% relate to this, I'm also naturally skinny and 5ft9. I used to eat anything slathered with butter or fat just to gain weight. I've embraced my slender bones and can eat anything I want 😉 without judgement

I am shocked when I hear the proces of Tokyo trains! In Barcelona the one way ticket for the zone 1 is 2.40€ and if you go further like my hometown which mind you, it's less than 30km away is close to 5 euros! I am lucky I am less than 30 and a single income family and I have access to transportation for 21€/trimester but it's crazy expensive for the faulty service at best

I adore these types of chatty videos! Especially this topic it was like super interesting! I also am one of those people who really wanted to get into J-pop but didn’t because of the lack of access. Right now I think the closest thing to an accessible J-Pop idol group is a group called &Team under HYBE Japan but they still make Korean versions of their songs so they can preform in Korea to get more exposure.

I love your chats! And it is so true how locked out Japan is lol i’m from the states and I want to buy Japanese fashion so badly and it is pretty much impossible and I’m not the type of person to jump through hoops to go shopping online lol and I really wish they would open up to the world they are such a gem and it’s sad about their music too They could’ve been as successful. As K-pop !!! I would’ve loved to see that. I hope it happens in the future. And having to drive everywhere I would do anything to just get on a train for two dollars that’s nonexistent here train tickets here are like a vacation for 100s of dollars .Love you. 🫶✨🌸🎀.

I remember I was so obsessed with Jpop when I was a teen it was Ayumi Hamasaki and some other Jpop talent and after that, you couldn't listen to anything because of the region lock you mentioned. So now I'm loving K-pop. I would be interested in more of that topic.

I loved this video. Missed these kind of chatty videos from you, they are so interesting, and as a fellow train lover, watching you talk about trains activates my neurons, feels like I'm sat with a friend talking about everything interesting! And the other topics were also really interesting! If you chose to do more topics in the future, don't question it, just do it, we will eat up all the information, even if it isn't all correct, it's interesting. Feels like tea time And now I am gonna spend hours looking into Perry and the Icoca card and the Shin Okubo Gentrification. OH AND Finding out that there are so much J-Pop that is region locked makes me watch to go on a deep dive into some Jpop artists that I haven't been able to find yet. All the JPOP music I listen to are from artists that have anime opening and endings. PLEASE! The yap sesh's are so much fun. It's difficult to give ideas because everyone has their own interests, but when you get some new hyper fixation or something, we'd love to hear about it. :D Thank you for another great video Mikan!

I think the most similar legal loophole in the US is that you have to declare money made illegally on your tax forms. This lets them arrest you if they can prove you made money that you didn’t report, even if they aren’t able to gather enough evidence about your specific crime to arrest you for that. This is how Al Capone got taken down.

people complaining about the train prices. Someone needs to tell me how long a 40min journey in jpn costs, because a one way trip from Oxford to London (40 mins) costs over £30....

I think vtubers are taking the Japanese idol thing outside of Japan now, especially Hololive. There are still a lot of barriers for Japanese stuff but a lot more of the old albums are on Spotify in the US now (though a couple of the biggest artists are still not on there). But definitely the barrier to entry kept J-pop in a niche.
