Just a little heads up that the expiration date doesn’t mean the food can’t be consumed afterwards, it’s just a bit of a help for the consumer. So if you open your can of chickpeas after the date and it doesn’t look or smell bad you can try one and if they also taste normal they’re still good to eat :) Canned foods usually stay good for a looooong time

Hey Caitlin, Love the 'getting my life together' style vlogs - really motivating to watch in the morning before a busy day! more of these please! For suggestions on videos: maybe something on finding/maintaining friends in your early 20's (to fit with the early 20's theme from your budgeting video) and then also some more vlogs around Toronto - its a beautiful city! xx

That chickpea recipe was not what I was expecting! I make something very similar - but as a COLD dish/salad instead of heated..... chickpeas, diced red onion, salt, pepper, oil and some vinegar (I used garlic-wine vinegar). Eat it right away, or chill it and eat it cold.... love it! One of my regular dishes!

So if things are in tins they’re air tight and can be eaten after their use by date. If you’re concerned what you could do is make something like hummus with your chick peas and freeze it so you have it for future use. All things have to have a use by date. For instance where my mum works, PAPER has an expiry date.

If you like ginger, maybe cut some cubes or very little slices and add it to your chickpeas, it is delicious and gets you out of the common ways of eating chickpeas. Also, don't waste the chickpeas' water! You can do meringue with it (it's like when you beat eggs until stiff) :)
