According to the internet, a battery for the Model 3 is $3000-$7000 dollars. The batteries last 300,000-500,000 miles so it's really not bad at all.

I used to work for JPMORGAN CHASE and handled lease payments and information for the future. Please NEVER put a down payment on a lease vehicle. There is no reason to it’s just wasted money. Especially in the end. It doesn’t go towards the purchase price if you want to buy the car in the end all it is is money for the dealership... It’s been years since I worked there but I think for every $1000 you put down it only takes off $10 monthly. Something like that. I’m obsessed with your vehicle 😍😍 I think Teslas are so cool!

Oh I didn’t know this either! I recently leased a Tesla as well. Btw you decide whether you want to purchase the car or not towards the end of your lease so you’ll get the option like 1 or 2 months before your lease ends. After this Tesla I hope to loan either a better Tesla a bmw or a Mercedes. We’ll see, hopefully things turn out well within the next few years🤞

I think for people who don't drive a lot and like to change cars or may not need a car long-term, a lease is a good option, but Teslas are a bit of a different animal than a regular car. First, with respect to the concern about battery replacement, according to Elon Musk Tesla batteries last 300,000 - 500,000 miles. Depending on how much you drive, you probably will never need to replace the battery, and there is also an 8-year/150,000 mile warranty on the battery. In terms of depreciation, EV's don't depreciate the way ICE cars do. The Tesla Model 3 depreciates only 10% after 3 years. That's incredible! Not sure about the Model Y at this point (probably too early to know). Also, Tesla takes trade-ins at very high value to populate their upcoming fleet of robo-taxis. Teslas retain their value in private sales as well because there isn't an engine or tons of other moving parts to sustain wear and tear, so mileage doesn't really mean the same thing as it does with an internal combustion engine car. They also have the highest safety rating of any car tested in the U.S., which boosts their re-sale value. The other reason to buy is that, unlike "regular" cars where you need to buy a whole new car to get the upgraded features of newer model years, most of Tesla's upgrades are done via software, so your car will have tons of new features each time there's a software update. You buy one car and it just keeps getting better over time. Anecdote: I know of someone who traded in their Model X after years of owning it for a brand new Model Y Performance (an almost $70K car) and the guy walked out with his brand new car PLUS a check for almost $10,000. Granted the Model X is more expensive, but I've literally never heard of a car company cutting a check for that much while also handing over a brand new $70,000 car. So cool!

The great part about Teslas is that their value can go up after driving off the lot compared to a gas cars because you get software updates and you can get upgrades like autopilot which will make it be worth more. I’ve seen people selling their 2018-2019 model 3s and they’re getting offered more than what they paid for the car 😅 I have a model Y as well and I decided to buy mine for that reason. It usually cost between 3-7000 dollars but you really only need to replace it when it gets to 300-500,000 miles. Which is a big gap but it depends what model and specs you have. So unless you do a lot of driving or plan on having this car for a long time you most likely won’t have to replace the batter

@ymcpa73

What evidence is that? Values definitely go down. You might be able to sell a new model that is still in short supply for a premium but that only lasts a few months. I've seen used Teslas that were priced at nearly the same price as new. I think that is because many tesla Model S owners bought their cars for over $100k but Tesla lowered their prices and those same cars cost $80k now and these owners haven't really adjusted to that. You would have to be a fool to pay more than the going rate for a new car.
@AW-gj4ji
@AW-gj4ji 3 жыл бұрын
No it will never appreciate over time. It doesn’t depreciate much for the moment but then again anyone with a working brain would buy new other buying a used similar value vehicle. If you traded in to Tesla then you will see the real depreciation vs elsewhere.

If you plan to hold the car for 3 years, you should definitely lease. Buying is better when you hold the car over 5 years. THe mistake people make is when they keep leasing the same car, like someone who keeps leasing a BMW 3 series. You get some minor technology improvements and you don't worry about repairs, but you are paying way more than if you just bought the car. If you like to experience different cars, then leasing makes sense.

The salesman had said that they do price match if you can have a lower offer they will match it. I told the dealership owner Fu you SOB, Ya the one who's losing here because now you can't make the ton of money you were going to make on the financing because there's no money in making the car sale but you guys rob people on the financing and now you won't get that chance and by that time I'll have enough money saved up to buy a electric car without borrowing any money so thank you you SOB ICE terrorist

The car looks so sleek! Not many people realize how cheap it is to fuel(charge) an electric car. If you drive a BMW X3 1000 miles every month, you'd be paying $140/month for gasoline at $3/gallon price. For Tesla, you'd only be paying around $23/month for same miles at 10c/kw price. That is $117 of savings per month!

Okay but what’s the price difference in insurance ? Aren’t Tesla’s higher to insure? I’m not sure because I have never asked for a quote but I’ve heard it’s higher.
@mydutube
@mydutube 3 жыл бұрын
@@Mike-wc3jo Here in California, Tesla has their own insurance which is 20% to 50% cheaper compared to others. Tesla can afford to do that primarily because of the low customer-acquisition cost - they don't advertise or have sales people. Tesla Insurance is only available in California so far. Regarding other states: Tesla started mass producing vehicles only 4 years ago with the launch of Model 3. During initial years of Model 3, most insurance companies didn't have enough data about accident rates, fatality rates, claim amounts, driver demographics etc. Premiums were high because of that. In last couple of years, as more data become available, things are getting better. I'm hearing from friends in the other states that insurance premiums have come down to be similar to BMWs and Audis if not cheaper. Insurance companies are now competing on prices as Teslas are becoming more popular. Tesla will be launching Tesla-Insurance in Texas in a few months and it will be available in the rest of the US by the end of 2023 I believe. There are some inherent advantages to electric cars which make them safer and hence cheaper to cover for the insurance companies. 1. Electric cars are 10 times less likely to catch fire according to the US Federal Highway Administration. 2. EVs have large front crumple zone which helps absorb more energy during collision compared to a gas car. 3 Batteries provide low center-of-gravity which reduces the possibility of vehicle rollover. 4. This one is Tesla specific: Teslas have the best active-safety features according European NCAP (US NHTSA does not rate active-safety). This help Tesla cars to avoid accidents completely. Insurance companies will keep seeing the benefits of all of the above safety benefits over the coming years and they'll keep reducing the premiums for Teslas after taking all things in account. That's only my humble opinion. Cheers! :)

Time is money. It’s take 2 minutes to fill up the whole tank on gas car not 3 or 4 hours like electric car.
@Mike-wc3jo
@Mike-wc3jo 3 жыл бұрын
ConservativeCutiepie007 ???? 2 min , you still have to drive to go get gas instead of just plugging your car in at home while you sleep. You sleep more than 3-4 hours don’t you ? So what does that matter ?
@mydutube
@mydutube 3 жыл бұрын
@@cwillfrommd Glad you brought that up. I hear that a lot. With a Gas car, most people have to make a slight d-tour to reach to the gas station; that combined with actual time to fill up is 10 mins on average. On average, people go to the gas station every 10 days (36 times a year). So, total time spent during the whole year would be about 6 hours... 6 HOURS A YEAR that people completely waste (on average)!! With Electric car, I just plug it in when I come home. It takes me 10 seconds to plugin. I don't have to stand there and wait for it to fill up. And it's ready to go with full-charge every single morning! 6 HOURS SAVED! Now let's talk about long trips. How many long trips do you do every year that are longer than 300 miles one-way? Most people who drive more than 5-6 hours, do stop for a coffee/restroom-break and even a meal break at a restaurant. At Tesla Superchargers, Model 3/Y adds 250 miles in 26 mins or 150 miles in 12 mins. So if you start with a full battery from your starting-point, you can do more than 450 mile drive with only one stop of 12 mins. And to those 12 mins are not wasted. You can use that time to get a coffee, stretch your legs, empty your bladder or eat a meal in your car or at a restaurant nearby. Most people take these breaks on long trips anyways - even when driving a gas car. So there is no waste of time, if you are like most people who would take at least one break during 450+ mile (6-7 hour) drive. If you're someone who does 500+ miles one-way trips every other week and also doesn't stop at all for a coffee or a meal, than you're not 99% of people; and you'll need to make a decision whether savings couple hundred dollars every month takes priority vs driving 500+ miles non-stop! Tesla saves between $40 - $70 on every 500 mile trip depending on the gas price in your state. That's a big enough incentive for stopping 15-20 mins at supercharger, even for people who can hold their pee for 6 hours :D Cheers :)

Awesome video. I never spent a penny on a leased car and ill tell you guys how. Since your leasing a car, you dont have to worry about maintaince or driving up the miles. Basically use the lease as a source of passive income and find a job that requires driving as a side hustle. Ive been doing doordash with leased cars and bring in about $400-$500 a month and spend maybe 2-3 days of the month doing it. The car pays for itself. You cant do this if you buy because the more miles you spend on the car the more money you lose. But with a lease the cost of 3 years is stagnant minus the headache of repairs and maintaince.

As others have said, no need to worry about Tesla batteries, they last for ages! And it's not like they suddenly stop working after 500k miles, you will just get less range from a full charge - maybe as much as 20% less, if you're unlucky. As Teslas tend to have a long range to start with then that's still a very usable car! (I know you also had other reasons for leasing though, fair enough)

This might seem petty but I have to ask. So, I test drove a model Y and was shocked at the lack of visibility through the rear windshield. The Tesla only has a slit to look through. It’s almost non existent. I’m used to a huge rear windshield. Now, I realize that the Model Y has a camera, but I don’t like that I’d have to push a button and look at the screen in order to scan behind me, rather than a quick glance in my rear view mirror. Feels unsafe. What do you think about this?

Leases are based on the difference between the price and the residual value at the end of the lease. If the Price is $3k lower, your payment will be lower and you should get the benefit over the term of the lease.

Do the monthly payments go based off your credit score *if so what’s yours* but if not is just solely based off how long you lease the car? Also for insurance are you under 25. Because I know much you depends on your age sometimes

Actually, the 2021 Model Y Long Range is $42k base price, which IMO, is pretty reasonable for a luxury vehicle. And it's expected to retain its value well. Plus, the annual estimated gas savings is in the thousands.

I placed an order for Model Y. During the ordering process, I selected Tesla financing. Later I got email from Tesla saying that my loan application has been approved. A week later however, I received a paper mail from Wells Fargo telling me the loan application has been denied. Then, I called the number on the Wells Fargo letter, and she told me to ignore that paper mail because I had been approved. Has anyone experienced the same? Very confused. What Tesla number can I call to get to the bottom of this?

This is just a warning if anyone cares, not trying to be rude or mean. Teslas become absolutely useless and environmental waste if you get into a serious accident. You have no right to repair and they can take away features if you make any modifications.

Buying a $40K - 60K car (aka "bad" debt) that depreciates in value & paying interest (if one has loan, and almost every car buyer does) on top is financial suicide. Guess why most Americans are living from paycheck to paycheck? Only do so if you have net worth over a million. Until then, drive a 4 year old used Honda/Toyota which will get you from point A to point B and invest your hard earned cash in "good" debt that will appreciate in value over time. Yes, driving a Tesla must be wonderful but it's a "want" and not a "need" for most folks.

You can have a $500 dollar payment without living paycheck to paycheck lmao... people worth hundreds of millions or even billions don't pay cash for a $20 million dollar yacht because they can use *LEVERAGE* to operate that liability at a low cost, reap the benefits of ownership while keeping that $20 million invested and making millions in returns. Dave Ramsey is only for people who have 0 financial literacy😂 Even the largest companies in the world (Google, Microsoft, Apple, Facebook, etc...) they ALL use debt and leverage to maximize returns
