I think it's important to stick to stocks that are immune to economic policies. AI stocks that have the potential to power and transform future technologies. It seems AI is the trajectory most companies are taking, including even established FAANG companies. Maybe there are other recommendations?

You obviously never drove a BMW, Mercedes, or Audi with the same low-profile tires and even tighter suspension that don't have these noise issues. Tesla has fantastic technology. Arguably, the best in the business. Now, they need to learn how to build a car. The cheapest Kia has a better ride than my wife's model Y.

@@hamabrewer she's got a '22 though... the highland refresh is known for big improvements in suspension. but I have a newer model y, and the suspension is pretty good, but I have 19" tires. But honestly, I don't like a floaty ride, and prefer some feedback.

The cost of installing a Level 2 charging setup depends greatly on the home and the current electric setup. My home was built in 2017, has a 200amp panel in the garage. All I spent was $300 for an electrician to wire up a NEMA 14-50 outlet. I paid $379 for a 40amp evse, so I'm only out about $700 for my setup.

You can’t turn off the auto wipers while on autopilot since the cameras need to be clear. Turn off autopilot and turn off the auto wipers.

Tips for you :) 1) Replace your *rims* and tires with the 19" with the taller sidewalls and it will solve both the ride comfort, and they can handle much larger potholes, etc. 2) In my model 3 I've noticed the AC is much cooler if you put it in AUTO mode, and do not change any settings other than the temperature / direction. Try it out for a nice cool ride even when it's 105+ out. 3) Wipers do suck, Tesla needs to add rain water sensors some day! It's so bad. Also, autopilot is why they won't let you turn off auto mode. 4) Get your tires done at a regular tire shop, not tesla. Also don't be afraid to try different tires than the OEM ones. I've had great tire life with the pilot sport 4s all seasons. Enjoy your next car! Don't get big rims with low profile tires, or you'll end up in the same boat for your biggest issues.

On a car this expensive low profile tires should be fixed out by suspension for example my 60k land rover (got 2) one rides on 22 wit low profile tires and the other on 20's with high profile tires they both ride very similarly no excuses on a car this expensive.

I have been driving electric vehicles since 2011 and have owned a Model 3 for over 4 years now. That stuff about the tires doesn't seem right. That screw puncture should be fixable. I've had many flats on electric vehicles over the years and all the puncture repairs held up. For Tesla tires, it is time consuming and a pain to cut out the inner foam and clean the sticky around the puncture area, patch, and glue in new foam (right way to fix a flat, not sure if I would trust the simpler and faster plug method). Tire pressure does not have to be exact. I run mine 2psi over as I have found that keeps my tire wear even for where I needed to drive (up and down parking structures). And rolling over a rock in a driveway is a new one to me. I constantly roll over 2" gravel that somehow find its way from my hardscape to my driveway with no problems. Agree with you that the lighting is dim. I replaced all the lights on the doors, the frunk and the trunk with brighter LED lights.

I had 2 nails in one of my '19 Model 3 tires and it was still drivable. Took it to Nat'l Tire and Battery and they patched it. No problems since then and it's been 2 years.

I _think_ I heard her say that the problem with changing tires at a third party shop is that Tesla Road Service will no longer support you if you have tire issues.

Might help if Erin read the manual! The auto wipers are automatically switched on when you are using Autopilot - so you need to disengage Autopilot before - then you can turn off auto wipers (I find this feature very annoying!) There are two USB sockets just below the retractable cover in front of the armrest - the driver/passenger don’t then need to use the rear USB sockets - they are for the rear passengers to use! The front charging pads don’t work so well - if you are using a thick cover on the phone or one that has metal in it - as that inhibits the inductive charging.

@@Freda4lee She really should take the car back to the service center and have people show her where each of those things are. I get car sick and I am not even riding in a Tesla. It would be a mistake for her to trade in her model Y right now especially if she lives in the north east because of the terrible air quality from the wildfires in Canada. She can put her car in Bioweapon Defense mode and have her cabin air cleaned. She is lucky to have that since only Model Y, S, and X have the HEPA filter and this function.

You should consider a Mustang Mach E, My brother got it, and i was a die hard Tesla fan. But after seeing and driving the mach e.. It's the only EV car I would get other than the Tesla. Everything you mentioned is not an issue in the Mach E and it also have the drive with 1 pedal, also you can switch it back to a normal mode where you still get the regen break while you use it like a regular car. It's amazing actually. But you can also use it like the tesla so try it. I bet you'll love it...

I loved my Ioniq 5 AWD too! It was totaled and I went with a Tesla very reluctantly and only did it because of the tax credit. Wishing I would have gotten another Ioniq 😢

@3:40 rough ride? Don't know about the older model Y, and my expectation of the quality of ride may not be the same as Bengy's but my 2023 LR Model Y seems to ride fairly smooth (especially for a vehicle that handles as well as it does on curves). I've heard that there has been some improvement in suspension with the 2023 Model Y. Do bear in mind that I am a big fan boy and am still in honeymoon mode with Perl (my Model Y).

FSD requires them to have access to the wipers if rain starts~ But the sensors (Cameras in the new one's) get dirty, or dusty, or whatever~ I understand a software update satisfied the issue~

I watched this video thinking I was going to disagree with everything you said…I own a Model 3 and Y…I realized, I agree with 70% of this stuff…Although, I’m not getting rid of either one. I think I’m just on the edge and love the technology…I love the cars. Plus I would not own any other EV that is outside of the Tesla SC network. The ride is rough, there are literally no lights in the cabin…it’s honestly hilarious. To be fair, they have tried to address the cabin lights, and it does get ridiculously hot in the cabin. I live in Florida…the summers are rough without tinting it. I still love them though. I would also add build quality issues, the sound engineering when the doors close are terrible. Having owned a BMW and even my Fiancée’s Mazda CX-5 sounds better when the doors close. Good luck…hope you find a car you love.

I’ve owned a Tesla since Sep 2023, I had to change the tire twice already. I’ve never had to change a tire in my previous cars and they all had a SPARE. One puncture was done in the highway by some sort of small 3” metal and it penetrated the rim!! So I had to get a new tire and a new rim. I also don’t like the fact that there’s no handles to get out of the car like all other cars do. I’m seriously considering selling the Tesla also.

The tire cost actually is a shock for me, so many problems... this is the first time i hear so many issues with the tires, why is this not more known, it is a killer, replacing fuel cost with „burning” tire cost.

Too late, I've had my Y perf for a year already. Some early problems with cruise control phantom breaking but that got resolved automagically by an update. I've heard the Y perf is rougher than the LR, while you feel what's going on around you it's about the smoothest and quietest car I've driven - maybe a crown vic is smoother but who'd want to drive that?? No prob charging, road tripping, keeping cool or warm, but there are a thousand tricks to know. On the tires, they send different ones to different areas of the country, the all season I got have been great all purpose tires and are wearing well 25k in.

@@rajendramodusu5980, I personally don’t recommend getting a full EV, nor even a plug-in hybrid, unless you have routine access to cheap AC charging either at home or at work. If not, you’re probably better off with a well-designed hybrid, like Toyota’s.

I know some have recommended the 19-inch tires for ride comfort. I would also recommend folks evaluate the option of switching to non-run-flat tires. They have a more comfortable ride as well. That's what I did on my BMW X5. What about not having a spare tire? We have an air compressor in the trunk to fill the tires with air if they have a leak. If the leak is so bad that the air compressor doesn't get us to a tire shop, then call tow truck (we've never had to call tow truck by the way, if you have good tires, the likelihood of this scenario is extremely low)

Even with the low-profile run-flats, your X5 drove 500% better and quieter. The car is her dog's issue. The dog is not brand loyal like you. You can't go from a 100-year-old German company that knows how to build cars to a tech company that started building them yesterday and expect comparable results. Even Toyota and Honda built crap for 30 years before they started doing things right. Even today they can't match the German cars in ride and performance.

Yeah, that’s reasonable for people to do Tesla U (not). Tesla removed $144 ultrasonic, and radar sensors in spite of record profits, and now they try to use the cameras to to do the job that those sensors used to do. So now you have to discover that you have to turn off the oh mighty auto pilot to avoid the wipers coming on at random. Not to mention phantom, braking caused by the recent deletion of sensors that used to back up the cameras. Got it.

14:21 or you can watch a quick 2 min tutorial of how to tow your car or what to tell the person who comes to tow your car? You literally put the car on tow mode by going to Control > Service > Towing. Insert the tow eye in front of the vehicle. Pull the vehicle on a flatbed tow truck and then secure the tires. That’s it.

The app problem is an iPhone issue. Aggressive power saving limits how often and how long the Tesla app can keep the phone awake. Androids have the same problem, but you can turn it off and the phone app works great.

Great comments/review! Thanks. Our Model Y is coming in on Monday, so hopefully at least some of these concerns have been addressed already. Your point about tires not being patchable is very interesting. Again, thanks. Phantom braking, I _gather_ at least, has been reduced a lot. I’ll see if that’s indeed the case. IIRC, Ryan Shaw at least reported that ride quality has improved, but I don’t personally know how much. 8:52 - Just a way-minor terminology nitpick (not complaining; great review; just wanting the concepts to be clear with everybody): _Regenerative braking_ and _one-pedal driving_ are not synonymous. (Arguably Tesla conflates the two, so not surprising.) - Regenerative braking refers to the braking system converting kinetic energy (energy of movement) back into the battery. - One-pedal driving means that the car comes to a complete stop, and stays stopped, when you remove your foot from the accelerator pedal. You can have either without the other. Priuses, Mach-Es, and many other cars perform “blended braking,” meaning that slowing down the car by _any_ means, including hitting the brake pedal, will be performed regeneratively as much as possible. Priuses, however, do not perform one-pedal driving: You have to hit the brake to bring it to a complete stop. The reverse is true, at least conceptually: one-pedal driving can be performed entirely through friction braking, and I _think_ Teslas have an option to do so if the battery is so full that it cannot charge from regeneration. Arguably at least, Tesla muddles this distinction by designing the brake pedal to perform strictly friction braking, rather than blended braking. Therefore, turning on one-pedal driving gives it a proverbial “golden opportunity” to maximize regenerative braking, but conceptually speaking, regenerative braking can be performed without one-pedal driving if Tesla supported blended braking, and one-pedal driving can be performed without regenerative braking.

Do what my mom did on her Tesla, Replace the wheels you have (sport wheels with low profile tires) to the Standard ones (smaller wheels with thicker tires). This will help the ride A LOT (one issue you have) and will also not be so prone to getting flats. Since these ARE STANDARD TIRES and wheels that come on a base model, TESLA will support them. @@sudhirraom Honestly if you go and watch the other reviews the 18" wheels and tires while better ride than the sport wheels it does not really address the very stiff and rough ride of the Tesla in general. There was rumored to have been an upgraded comfort suspension that was rolled out, but Rsymmons of the UK who sells EV and Tesla's did a review of the old vs the new and they could not detect with the seat of the pants drive review any differences. These things are just a very stiff rough ride. I see people putting softer springs on them to try and work around this, but it appears to be an ongoing issue. I have been trying to get to the bottom of this as I am evaluating my next EV purchase and I keep running into this growing list of issues with the Tesla's. Ride quality being one of them.

Windshield wipers turn on automatically when you are in autopilot. The reason you couldn’t turn them off is because you need to exit Autopilot mode in order for them to turn of

@6:24 in early July, 2023 I had the opposite and frightening problem of my wipers failing to work correctly during a downpour on the interstate. I was using TACC (didn't have Autopilot configured at the time; I was driving home from picking up the car) in the left most of three lanes. As the first drops began hitting, the wipers came on and ramped up in speed as the rain increased, up until the downpour reached blinding can't-see-past-the-hood intensity when the wipers started slowing down! Being new to the car I was not very quick with the controls, so I was barely able to work over to the right side of the road and off on the shoulder without causing an accident, indeed, it was only by grace, if not Grace, that I got there. After working with the wiper controls for a while on the shoulder, I eventually was able to keep the wipers at high speed and got back on the road (which I only managed due to having new tires and excellent acceleration -- that Y-car can really move!). Ironically, about a quarter mile down the road I came out from under the heavenly bucket-brigade, turned the wipers down and then off, and the rest of the trip was uneventful. So yeah, even this "I love all things Tesla/SpaceX/Boring/X.AI" guy had a moment of intense regret. The moral of this story for me was to trust but not be put into a position of having to rely on any automatic feature. (I do use TACC and basic Autopilot all the time, now, and one day I may even use automatic wipers again, but I am always ready to take over.)

Except the motor of the Tesla Y, the car is built kind of flimsy. I just bought a 2023 Tesla Model Y and the paint in the front chips easily and within 4 months my wind shield cracked. A tiny pen needle size chip (just think of a tip of a ball point pen) created a crack across the wind shield. There’s probably too much pressure when assembled. I wanted this car for awhile now and after getting it. It’s just ok. Just don’t believe the hype about the car. I think many believers of Tesla might over look it’s flaws and not tell you the truth about this car. I’m telling you you’ll probably have many issues with your car and pay good money because it’s not covered by their warranty before you get all the kinks and flaws out of your car. Tesla needs to do better in building their cars.

Knock on wood I've not had any of these problems. Smooth ride, no connectivity issues, no issues on cruise, my phone charger works...I believe you I've just not experienced it yet. Yeah lighting in back is redic. I'm worried about the tires. Owner 3 months.

There is a ton of bias (almost over-correcting for the toxic Tesla fanboy culture out there) and over-generalization here. I can break things down into separate points: 1. Autopilot does not consume more energy than manual driving under all circumstances. This depends on the driver's driving style/skill and the follow distance on the autopilot setting. For average drivers and highway driving, autopilot tends to be more efficient. Test it if you find this hard to believe or check out more knowledgeable Tesla owner channels. 2. Either you drive in really bad road conditions or there is something very wrong with your specific car. But a differences of few PSI should/will not cause your tires to blow out. I was half expecting you to drive a MY performance with 21" wheels but you are driving the MYLR with 19". It is mind-boggling to me that you find this vehicle under this configuration uncomfortable. Is the ride hard? Yes, but not to the extent where you would find it uncomfortable. I am leaning toward really bad roads where you live, given your really bad track record on blown/punctured tires. Speaking of tire prices, you pay luxury tire prices for luxury cars. This shows a bit of lack of pre-planning and forethought. If you bought the car a year ago, there were already a ton of reviews by then on what it means to own a MY, what to expect, and what to avoid. 3. This leads into the heat issue. With a little bit of planning and research, you would have realized that the most important accessory you could have bought for your MY would have been a roof shade. Why is this important? Well, without it you have an EV that is nearly half glass and for all intents and purposes, functions as a greenhouse if you are not prepared or well-informed. Combined with the higher ambient temperature around where you live, it's just a recipe for bad ownership experience. 4. All Teslas are practically computers on wheels. They have made it easier and more intuitive to use, but it still requires quite a bit of research and planning to use. You really should read the manual (or at least the relevant sections of it, like controlling wind shield wiper and how it cannot be controlled when you have AP/FSD active). Owning a Tesla or any EV is a way of life. To criticize the way of life isn't really fair to Tesla since most EVs would have the same or similar issues (weight, tire requirement, bad efficiency under extreme heat/cold weather). You might be better off driving an ICE for some time before EVs become easier to own/use for the general public. 5. My wife uses an LG-G7 (by no means a new or flag ship phone) and I use a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. In the 1.5 years we have owned our MYLR, we have never been in a situation where the keyless entry has failed to work. But as someone's has already suggested in the comments, it is possible that the issue is your phone+Bluetooth combo. But even if it isn't, you could have used your key card to gain entry into your vehicle reliably. Now for the part of the review that I would actually agree on: 1. Customer service experience is really bad. No question about it. Among many issues, it is indeed true that Tesla service really isn't comfortable working with aftermarket parts and accessories. 2. Teslas in general are more expensive than competitors. This is true but if you factor in the expansiveness and the reliability of the charging network and infrastructure, it might actually even out. So this is a bit neutral. 3. If you live in a location that is not near a service center, getting service is going to be a genuine hassle. Imagine having to drive 3 hours to get to a SC for trivial repairs because it is not worth it to Tesla for a mobile ranger to drive out to you. Full disclosure: I own two EVs, a MYLR and a Bolt EV 2LT and no other cars. Much of what you have criticized about either are not facts or are not applicable to everyone. I am not going to claim that I am a completely satisfied Tesla (or Bolt EV) owner but I sense a lot of anger, frustration and plain bias in your 'review'. But I understand that you are entitled to your opinion (yes, as long as we all recognize that it is only an opinion and not a general trend of facts). It is funny, that there are so many other things that are actually wrong with a Tesla (like build quality, removal/addition of software and hardware feature without customer acknowledgement, keeping benefits software locked behind a pay wall or closed source software) but you chose to talk about some of the most statistically improbable issues that the Tesla community has encountered with their vehicles. I would say, if you are unsatisfied, go ahead and sell your vehicle to someone else who might be better informed, more enthusiastic or more patient about bleeding-edge comsumer tech but you seem hesitant to do even that by quoting the paper work involved with the process. This leads me to think that you have basically targeted this video to flame/troll Tesla fan boys. A bit disingenuous if you ask me.

Great video and sorry to hear you've had issues. We've owned our Model Y now for 1 year and drove across Canada from end to end and no issues except for some phantom breaking on the prairies. that's actually the only time that's happened to me. I do get the phone connectivity issue from time to time and seems to affect me and not my wife. We got the enhanced autopilot and I use it a lot on road trips. I'm very mindful for what the car is doing just incase I need to take control. No issues on tires. I was not able to purchase the winter tire package from Tesla directly but I was able to get the exact same tires elsewhere. There are cabin lights in the second row next to the coat hanger. You can configure them to turn on when you open your doors. There are 6 USB C charger plugs, 2 in front, 2 in middle, and 2 in the third row. The rough ride is due to the lower profile tires. If you go back to the standard wheels it's a much softer ride and this is something that you should know when doing your research. It gets hot here in southern Ontario Canada, but I found the cabin heat protection worked great. Also tinting the driver and passenger side windows helped and it makes for a cleaner look. 1 pedal driving is truly a game changer! I also love how the car gets updated and feels like you got a new car. Sometimes it's the little things that matter. For example the heated steering wheel used to be just on and off. Now it's Auto, Low, High, or Off. The thing that truly boggles my mind is the amount of space in this car. We are a family of 5 plus a yellow labrador retriever and we've been able to do some serious road trips and camping with just the hitch rack you can add (look for X-rack). You don't want to have anything on the roof to keep the car aerodynamic and not drain the battery (30% vs 10% with a hitch rack). Another example was I picked up my sister and her husband and two kids under 2 - so 3 adults in the car, 2 kids, 5 large suitcases, 2 strollers, 2 car seats, some jackets and some baby bags for stuff and there was still a little more room. Only 1 suitcase needed to go on the hitch rack. Anyway i hope this helps others and good luck to selling your car.

It's also worthwhile to mention the pros and cons of the Tesla app and how much savings you can get from this car (although each driver might have different results). For context we've put on 29,000 KM in 12 months and when you factor in the gas savings, it's over $4000 in savings this year alone. You get all these insights from the app. I've also not had to service my Tesla Model Y at all. I've only purchased the winter tires. So maintenance is another cost saving in on itself. I also carry the Tesla key card just incase there was ever an issue with the phone connectivity, so no need to purchase the fob in my opinion.

@@rajendramodusu5980 I've had EVs charging in a garage, under a carport, and at SuperChargers/work/parking garages in the city - I have a fast-charge in my carport currently. Very cold weather impacted my range both in a garage and outdoors, but not enough that it was ever a problem.. No noticeable battery degradation on any of my 3 EVs over the course of ownership (all under 5-years). That said, I practice good charging hygiene (charge to 80-90%, and don't drop below 20%). I'm seeing more businesses, garages, and apartment lots offering charging stations and hope that continues. With the range of a full electric, it's easier to have the option to charge at work, while running errands, etc if access at home is limited. I had a home in the city with street parking and DID manage to plug-in overnight back then (2013!). Those cords, like cars and anything else left outside overnight, can go "missing." Mine didn't, luckily. Most cords lock onto the charge port and would require the "app/key holder" to release them now. 50' seems longer than any of the cords I have run across so far. Is there an exterior outlet closer to your spot maybe? Locally, some of the utility companies have offered free/subsidized charging stations to businesses or locations that agree to install and maintain the equipment and make it available for public use. I've had literally zero of these problems with my model Y in 1 year of ownership. It has never once slammed on the brakes in autopilot or on the highway, Bluetooth connectivity is perfect with my android phone. It is a bit too stiff ride for a "luxury" car, but that can easily be fixed with $600 Tein aftermarket shocks for $600, and the suspension is fixed in all of the new models made today. It's by far the greatest car I've ever driven. Autopilot on the highway is a lifesaver.

I had one for a few days and the bluetooth connected, but I couldn't hear anyone but they could hear me. Adjusting the volume did nothing. I just gave up. The auto pilot kept disengaging. I agree with everything she is saying. I had a 2023 with a max range of 268, and it wasn't even coming close to that. It would say I have enough to make my trip, but it was at 9 miles of range when I arrived. You can't do anything with 9 miles. You have to go sit 30 minutes to charge, and be late to your event. It does get too hot in the car in Texas, but expected this before I ever drove it. It isn't a bad car, I just think it is a little overrated. I want to buy 2 of them just to rent them because people like you love them.

@@drjd2real I think the Bluetooth thing is down to getting the settings set up correctly. I forget the exact menu's but there's a couple diff things to set up the Bluetooth. Autopilot does slow down quickly when it sees a speed limit sign, a lot of people think that is phantom breaking but it's not. Highway driving, agreed you won't get the mileage it suggests. It will in city driving but highway miles deducts probably 15% of the range. But overall, the car has so many features that nothing else can really touch. Sentry mode and built in 4 camera dashcam is a lifesaver. Safest vehicle ever tested in 3 continents safety standards. Best audio system best voice commands, best phone app, best software updates, you name it and it's the best at it.

@@yeahbuddy92193911 It is more than 15% on the highway. I'll give an example. It had 119 miles and suggested I charge to make the trip. I charged to 268 miles, and had 120 miles to go. When I got there I had 10 miles left and it suggested I charge again. I kept seeing the same people charging at every supercharger, and they said the same thing I said about it should have more range. I charged it 3 times for about 500 miles, that's 268x3=804 miles of range minus your 15% is 683 miles but it wasn't making it. I would love it if it got close to the estimated range. I could have made the trip easy in my Lexus on one tank without all the stopping to charge. I understand why most people like it, but if you've been in luxury cars most of your life you shouldn't be that impressed.

I've had a few nice cars, one luxury Acura but to me the Y blows it out of the water in performance, features and technology. Just having a voice command to tell it to play a particular song, is years ahead of any other car on the road. If you count over the air software updates, the summon feature, FSD, its a decade ahead of anything out there.

@@yeahbuddy92193911 I understand your point but I'm not impressed with some of these features. I think it makes people more lazy than the already are. The performance you rave about eats through the battery like crazy. There are plenty of cars out their with voice commands, and they have a Silverado that can drive itself. I know it doesn't count, but I've been using voice commands over a decade with aftermarket radios like Kenwood, Alpine, and Pioneer. I guess I still like gas powered vehicles. I think they are way more eye catching than any Tesla. I haven't missed the Tesla yet when I had to jump back in my gas powered vehicle. I took an Uber before in a model 3. The driver was using autopilot barely looking at the road, and I felt unsafe as hell. I understand people have no problem putting all their faith in trusting a car, but I'm not there yet.

Thanks, I was considering Tesla 2022 Y performance and have been reading stuff about the expense of the tires, plus I live in apartment so charging it at home would be difficult, but there are charging stations within the city of Albuquerque. I have a 2018 Toyota Camry hybrid SE and was going to trade it in for a 2025 Camry XSE two tone with panoramic sunroof, but they all have shade interior option inside.

I'm on the fence. I think I'm going to wait and test drive a few EV's later this year. I've worked with Vinfast and I test drove those in Vietnam and I really liked them (felt very similar to Audi in it's handling).

@@ErinRobinson- Though weight contributes, the tire issue is actually an industry wide one with the trend towards large wheels and fragile tires with thin sidewalls. So if you get another newer car and it has tires with thin sidewalls, consider selling the wheel/tire combo it came with and buying a new combo that has smaller diameter wheels. For the Model Y for instance you could swap the 19” wheels for 18” inch ones and put Defender LTX 255/55R18 tires on and they would be pretty robust. - The wiper situation is a result of Tesla’s move towards ‘Tesla Vision’ for reference see Bjørn Nyland’s video “Tesla Vision test (no radar) Model Y Performance from Giga Berlin”. All that being said your observations about Tesla the company are spot on, so I don’t blame you for wanting to sell your car.

Lololol hearing this has completely shaded the authenticity of this video. Vinfast is a shady company and the cab is basically a scam and a non starter…to recommend people to buy Vinfast over a Tesla is an insane thing to do unless you are being paid to do so. Which Vinfast is best known for in the car reviewing community for paying influencers, and sending them and paid vacations to get good PR for a car that is basically a deathtrap and is horribly manufactured. Suggest ford, ioniq, VW iD series….but vinfast??? Thats a red flag. If you look at reviews for that vehicle you will quickly see that even local Vietnamese people are complaining about being censored by the company in highly invasive ways… Now this video makes more sense…

Getting flat tires is such a luck based situation. There was a time with one car where I often got flats, it was a Honda Civic and I was living around an area where this just often happened. In Europe you can buy tires with a relatively cheap tire insurance for multiple years which fully covers these situations, at least financially.

Curious to know if other EVs have same issues when it comes to flat tyres and towing. My understanding is that Teslas tend to be lighter and more efficient than comparable EVs due to their construction (with Giga castings) and therefore require less battery size (and therefore weight savings).

Seems not. Legacy cars kept using the old tried system to hook and tow a car. No special arrangement needed. Same with tyres: no warranty issues, no special order, just as every other car. The weight issue may be the difference between a petrol car and an electric car. But honestly, it's not that dramatic. I own an electric car, I have standard tyres (not the EV, low drag, mumbo-jumbo ones) both normal and winter, and after five years those are just fine. Not seen any wear more than the old petrol car.

The wife and I have had our Polestar 2 for about 6 months and have had no issue with tyres/tires and there is a "tow mode" setting and can be towed like a normal car. It is heavier than an equivalent Tesla (that would be the 3) but isn't like a tank or anything, weighs about the same as a crossover and so it's tires aren't really that different than truck/suv tires. You don't see Honda Pilots popping tires left and right. The bigger thing with tires for EVs is the instant torque at low speeds, dedicated EV tires tend to be made out of materials that are better at dealing with those forces.

You can't turn off the wipers if TACC (cruise control) is on. It also doesn't have a traditional rain sensor like other cars, it uses the camera to detect rain, which unfortunately is not a very accurate way of detecting rain. As a result, the autowipers on Teslas all SUCK compared to other brands. It's one of the worst things about Tesla. I have mine set to manual most of the time, because the autowipers are so bad. Unfortunately, having to use the screen to operate the wipers is not very practical and it's something that really annoys me. I also miss a gauge cluster in front of me. Having everything on one screen just doesn't work for me. The screen is not at an angle, and some info far to the right on the screen is too far away from comfort. I much prefer the gauge cluster in the S and X, particularly the extra navigation info etc. There's too much info cramped together on that single screen in the 3 and Y. Navigation, Radio, Speedometer, Power consumption, AC etc. It would have been much better with a dedicated display right in front of you. That, and a proper rain sensor are my biggest complaints about these cars. It is also worth noting that brand new cars will come without ultrasonic parking sensors. This is done mainly to cut costs. The intent is that the cameras shall do the job instead, just as they tried with the wipers, letting the cameras do the job of the rain sensor. All these years later, and countless updates and it still sucks. The vision based parking sensors will likely be repeat of that. It will probably never be accurate or trustworthy, unlike the older system with dedicated parking sensors, which were among the best in the industry. So that's kind of sad. The phantom braking you describe has also been an issue for years. It could be a shadow, or a sign or something that the camera senses, and the car think is another car or something, and it will slam on the brakes. They still haven't fixed that either, and there's no way to turn traffic aware cruise control off and just use normal adaptive cruise control unfortunately. It just goes to show that relying exclusively on cameras probably isn't the best approach, as they're not the best choice for everything. Another thing to note: Newer cars will (starting some time this summer most likely) probably also ship without an external temperature sensor, which can be essential if you live in areas where it tend to snow during winter. The glass on the windows goes all the way up to the roof, so they tend to get frozen shut in the winter unless the car is preheated first. You miight be able to open the door, but you can't close it again because the window needs to go down a little bit first, so that you can close the door, and then it goes back up. If you slam the door shut with the window still up, it will likely break. For this reason, if I always check the app before I drive, to see if it's above or below freezing. If it's above freezing I'm good, if it's below then I know I MUST preheat first, or else I'll be stranded... Without that external temperature sensor that will be difficult, because local weather data is so wildly inaccurate. I checked my phone the other day and it showed 9 degrees celcius, while the car was reading 3 degrees celcius. Big difference! They're great cars in many ways, but they're not perfect. And there are some annoyances to be aware of. Tesla has been really eager to remove features lately, to cut costs further, and that unfortunately means that the car will lose various quality of life features that you may or may not need.

@tj cashflow. I have 2023.12.5 installed. In which version was all this supposedly fixed? The FSD? That's not going to be legal here for a long time, perhaps never.. 🙁 Still, even if it was, the majority of people go for the standard ap. I have often heard people claim that all the problems are finally gone after a particular update, but then it turns out they're not. These are problems that have been around for a very long time, like the phantom braking. It almost sounds too good to be true that they should suddenly fix it all. I believe that the camera based rain sensor, in particular, will never be an optimal solution due to its placement and its dependence on good lighting conditions.

Most if not all the problems cited are relatable (if one was to hypothetically experience it) and things many probably take for granted especially if one has never owned an EV. It is refreshing to see/hear about experiences that are being outside of the EV fandom that nothing ever goes wrong as it is all sunshine and rainbows type stuff.

She needs to take the car back to the service center and have them show her where things are. The model Y is one of the best car that she can ever have because she can safely leave her pets in the car while she does some shopping with Pet Mode. Also, the HEPA filter and Bioweapon Defense mode come in handy in cleaning the severely polluted air (from Canadian wildlife) if she lives in the north east.

Never heard anyone say the wireless phone chargers are useless before. Even the iPhones I have had as passagers have had it charge okay. On a one hour drive I charge my phone more than 60%. It has a larger output than what iPhones come with. It is great! It is one of the features I would say definetively imrpoves my quality of life.

@15:11 Yes, I purchased "A Modern Spare" wheel/tire and kit for my 2023 Model Y LR (~450 USD), as a just-in-case measure, as I intend to do some long road trips. I don't intend to do much driving on dirt and gravel roads, with the exception of my driveway, and I'm careful there. Keeping a spare in the back of the car isn't my idea of an elegant solution, but it is better than getting stuck on the side of the road, waiting hours for a tow or service call, due to a simple flat tire.

Have 3 Tesla’s(2 M3’s and 1 MYLR), none of these issues are something to worry about. A lot of her complaints are related to lack of basic vehicle knowledge. Tire’s are not an issue go with Tire Rack they come with free insurance, I never use Tesla Service for tires. Only had to replace 1 in 4 years (For free with insurance). For Tesla new users...you do NOT need Tesla "special" tires, we have Michelins and Pirellis on ours (not original and theyre better). Bumpy rough ride- true no argument there lol The sun roof literally a $40 sunshade solves the problem. The windshield wiper thing take it off Autopilot. Autopilot I use it 80% of the time with no issues for the past 4 years. It has saved me from accidents twice.

I bought this car and pretty happy with it. I have both Iphone and androidand personally android works better than iphones. Iphones are sometime not reliable. The wireless charger works really well for the android phone(Galaxy S23) whereas Iphone pro 13 charges really slow or iphone 13 mini dont even get charging started. 2023 model Y comes with a comfort suspension which removes lots of bumpy rides. I am not a fan boy but I heard many things about tires and windshield. Thats why Im not planning to do long trips. Personally, this car suits better for local driving.\ Thank you so much for your content!

I test drive Tesla 3 in 2006. I didn't like the glass roof felt heat on my head. The dashboard infotainment felt like was annoying and in the way and I'm use seeing speed behind steering wheel. I had keep looking over to see how fast I'm going. I don't like regenrative breaking coasting to annoying for me.

Some easy problems to fix so you don’t have to sell your car: Simple fix for stopping the windshield wipers, press the right button on the steering wheel for voice command and just say “turn off wipers” The tire replacement situation, instead of buying replacement tires from teslas which nobody does, go to discount tires, they work closely with tesla and offer tires for wayyyy less and work with your warranty if anything is wrong. They also provide tire insurance for super cheap. Don’t know who told you the 1-2 psi difference could explode your tires but that is physically impossible. I’ve had my tires be 43 42 40 42 and nothing happened. Ive driven my model Y for almost 3 years now without any tires issues, I get normal tire row rotations every 6k miles and go on a lot of road trips. Not a single flat nor “explosion” so seems a bit exaggerated here

I’ve never watched any of your experience videos prior to Tesla but I agree this one is a bit exaggerated on a few levels and could be helped by just calling Tesla or looking on Google. Seemed like winning more than anything.

Costco keeps Tesla tires in stock where I live and prices are good. Also you have tire pressure monitoring in the Tesla. You kinda mad it sound like you have to use a gauge and physically check each one. My guess is that the extreme hot and cold of a desert climate, cold nights and hot days might cause the PSI to fluctuate in a 24-hour period.

Thanks for the review, I have been seriously thinking of buying a Tesla model Y. I live in Arizona, so your comments about the car being really hot was very relevant to me, I also was interested in regards to the rough ride as many of the roads in Arizona or not very good and so I could imagine that would get really tiring, having a rough riding vehicle on the bumpy roads here in Arizona. Also, I’m with you with the Tesla fan boys, who just seem to promote the benefits of the vehicle and never really discuss the great downsides of Teslas. So kudos to you for having the courage to reveal what you found in your 12 months of ownership.

This person does not know it all about EVs, let alone Tesla. She does not understand the wiper control for one. The car will have a hard ride, just like my BMW 3 did. Firm suspension plus the tire do that. Tesla says lower the tire pressure to 39 psi. As to tires, you can but these Michelin tires at most tire shops. You don't need to go to Tesla. Many places do not like to plug a flat. This is not a Tesla issue. Once again, she needs to do more research before talking. Also, if there was an issue with the wipers that was a system issue, well take it in to Tesla to be fixed. You have a 4 year warranty. Yeah, they dropped the price and you are affected. Well, buy a Ford F-150 at the beginning of the season then 6 months later you get 10 grand off, a free TV etc. It happens to all makes just we don't see EVs dropping in price. As to recalls, there have been few. Is she talking about updates? That is what makes the car great. They have added so much in the 5 years I have had this car.Yes, the car can get hot. I bought the sunscreen that helped big time. Cost about 60 bucks and I didn't get an expensive tint. Pops in for summer and out for winter. My Model 3 is an early model and 5 years old. No issues other than the chargeport door stopped working. Fixed in the drive. So, go back to gas and wait weeks for service then have to take the car in and wait. Yes, I am one of those that says it's the best car I have owned. I have owned about 15 cars over the years, including 4 being full Electrics (BEV). They do need to start having more service centers, true. But, in 5 years I have been once for the upper ball joints to be done under recall. Mine were okay, so I waited until the car was 1 week for the end of the warranty. I also had them do a full check. Everything was fine. Not had a flat with the Tesla yet but all the ones I have had over the years, I did not blame the car or the tire. I hit a nail, screw or mega pothole, that's why. Three potholes were so big the wheels were destroyed.

Hey, Erin! It seems like this car is definitely not for you, but I wanted to write a couple things as someone who has a 2021 Model 3 and is pretty happy with it. I paid probably half of what you paid so I’d be pretty disappointed if I was you too! But with the fob thing, I also got two cards with my car the exact same size/shape as credit cards that function like keys. So even though my Bluetooth connectivity issues don’t seem as bad as yours, the one time I couldn’t use my phone bc it was going through an update, I used my key card. On the odd occasion that my car doesn’t immediately recognize my phone, that’s been immediately remedied by opening the app. Also by the time I had my car a year and a half I noticed a couple manufacturer issues; I had a rando piece of (what sounded like) metal rolling around in my passenger door and the plastic at the bottom of the driver’s seat was pulling away from the rest of the seat. I got everything repaired at no charge under warranty. I’m surprised an issue such as the rogue wipers would not be covered, as you clearly have it on video. It was great because on top of the free repair, I also got $200 worth of Uber credit to use while my car was in the shop to get me around and continuing to do what I needed to do. I’m sorry you got such a dud though and hope your next vehicle works much better for you!

I’ve actually heard better things about model 3’s and models that come from the Texas manufacturing facility vs CA. Both my husband and my apps never work, even when opening the app. It will actually be completely working for things like music but for unlocking the doors or starting the car, it now doesn’t work for either of us. Tesla specially told me it’s a Bluetooth issue with the car, so I’ll have to take it in now

According to Consumer Reports Model-3 has about average quality control records while that on the Model-Y is worse than average. Thus your experience w Model-3 cannot quite match that of someone who owns Model-Y.

Check to see if the car has ANC (ActiveNoiseCancellation) and unplug iT! I did on my Acura and the pooch no longer refuses to go for a ride.

To address some of your non tire related complaints: 1. Are you using cabin overheat protection? If you don’t let your car get too hot while stopped, it’s easier to maintain the temperature later. The roof glass filters out UV rays and heat; the level of transparency doesn’t tell you how much it filters or not. But it’s probably not made for the desert, so additional tinting is the right thing to do! 2. The ride of the earlier Model Y is quite harsh indeed. However, Tesla made some changes in 2022 that make the car ride a lot more comfortably. I rode in a Performance Version recently and was surprised how far it has come. Sorry that yours is not one of the newer models. Perhaps they can upgrade your shocks to the newer version. 3. If you get another EV, you’ll have to charge elsewhere, because of the different connector. Not all Superchargers will get the magic dock adapter. You’ll find that your life goes back to the old gas station experience. I would expect another complaint video from you then. 4. Phantom breaking of the AutoPilot is an issue with the current software. Tesla‘s Full Self Driving Beta is built on a completely different software stack and doesn’t have that problem. Expect a software update in the future that replaces the current AutoPilot Software with an all new version based on the FSD stack. That will solve the problem. Also: AutoPilot does not use any significant amount of battery charge.

And, you can just press on the accelerator to cancel the braking event. Some Tesla owners don’t know about this it seems. But, you can take over steering and pedals at any moment, including improving acceleration or just accelerating above your set speed to make a lane change sooner.

Regarding the last point: not the Autopilot itself takes the charge. The way it drives the vehicle is not very energy efficient.

This is what kills me. People defend all the issues with Tesla. I paid a lot of money for a car with too many issues. Stop releasing stupid games and crap and fix the core issues like panel tolerances, cabin noise and truly the worst wiper system ever designed. The phantom braking is inexcusable and dangerous. It makes me rage.

Thanks for sharing both the pros and cons. Too many youtubers focus only on the new techie part or how fun it is to drive (which are all true) but there are cons as well. Just to piggy back on your list of cons, the rear motor failed on my 2021 Model 3 LR at 13.5k miles with 1 year and 7 months into ownership. It takes 9 days to get a service appointment. The car has had build issues from the start from plastic panel peeling off, to interior cabin rattling noise, to heater problems which all required service calls. If the price of used Teslas have not dropped so dramatically as Tesla dropped its new car prices, I'd trade this dawg in for an ICE car. It was certainly fun to drive.. at least for the 1st few months.

I test drove a Model 3 today. It just felt like I was driving a car, nothing special. AC was inadequate for 110 degree heat. I can’t understand people who say it’s fun to drive. I did not try autopilot or FSD…maybe that’s what people like about it.

Unfortunately she is not being honest. The second row has lights, they are tiny but man do they light up the back row. She's either lying or has never noticed the two lights that I (and my 5 year old son) noticed immediately. There are other dishonest statements that she has made. Very unfortunate for the people on the fence.

Best car I've ever had. They make roof shades that are easy to install. Suspension is way better on the newer models. Haven't had any tire issues, but I don't drive on many dirt roads either. I do a lot of highway driving and autopilot is amazing.

Even my id4 came with an electric roof cover that blocks out the sun and keeps the car cool. Fanboys of course think that it's ok this expensive car comes without obvious things as do other cars. Not sure why we can't get a soft drive supposed SUV. You can keep buying them but I think I'll wait. To many things that should have come with the car like interior lights. Maybe tires that don't wear out in a Year. Enjoy

Any car that requires the key be on my phone is a no go. Exepecially since in LA there's always some crazy, drugged up creepy man in most parking lots trying to hit on, kidnap, ask for drugs or try to touch and s/a any woman just trying to put her groceries in the back of their car. UGH!

Doesn't require the key be on your phone, you can get the keyfob like I did, its a more traditional approach to getting in the vehicle and you can just leave it in your pocket. Haven't had any issues with it.

On the part where you’re talking about the windshield wipers, you have FSD on, windshield wipers are automatically on when FSD is on up until recently.

The wipers are automatic when cruise or autopilot are on. It drove me nuts until I figured this out.

Great video! My wife and I were planning to buy a Hyundai IONIQ 6 which has super cool exterior and interior design and good range, we love it soooo much, but the charging networks is a BIG drawback, at least in Canada or more specifically in Ontario. And that's the main reason we decided to buy a Tesla instead, because it's crucial for any types of long distance drive. From Ottawa to Toronto, 400+km, there are only 2 public charging stations on the way and they are next to each other and only have around 4 fast DC chargers in total and some of them might be broken regarding to google maps review..., we can do a detour to other chargers, but that's more time and it's not guarantied to find a working fast charger. While there are 3 Tesla Super Charging stations in the same route and they are 100km away from each other which is super ideal, and each station has 8 chargers, 24 in total, 6 times more than the public/3rd party ones. It's just waaaaay better than public chargers in Canada. Because it's not very realistic to have long distance drive with any other evs atm, so we will get a Tesla, and are waiting for the Hardware 4.0 upgrade ones, hope some of the issues mentioned in the video would be resolved in the refresh models.

@@linkfang9300 hw4 also includes newer higher resolution cameras, but the radar turned out not to be included (1 year ago rumours were that it was there.) late '23 teslas and all '24 ones are HW4. The cameras also stay cleaner in bad weather, so you Autopilot does not complain about "decreased visibility" as much.

I have a Tesla and I love it. I had it now about a year and I don’t think I could go back to other cars again. Unless is something even more comfortable and smooth. Interesting I never had any issues like bumpyness. Baloo my dog loves car drives. He puts his head out the window all the time. Luckily I have no issues with my phone connection with my Tesla. I also still have the Tesla cards to open the car so I always have a back up. The card came with the car at the beginning. Sounds like she got very unlucky with her model. On long trips it’s my husband who drive and he uses it a lot (auto drive) but he only uses it on the motorway as that’s when the lanes are consistently straight. It helps a lot as you can relax more on a long drive. The chargers work very well for me , we both use it me and my husband.

I have owned my 2022 MYP for a year now and I'm very shocked at your experience vs mine. I absolutely love mine. I have taken it on so many road trips and it's been amazing. I also drive it 70 mph everyday on autopilot and it's been a game changer and has saved me from potential accidents a few times. You're an influencer so to a lot of people, your word is the only word to trust. It's sad people are willing to cancel orders or have changed their mind based on your one experience. It sounds like you were sold a lemon and I don't think your "honest review" is an accurate reflection to owning a Tesla. I'm sure you'll roll your eyes and call me a fanboy for putting this comment but I'm slightly annoyed that you made this video and are trying to push it on people as "this is the reality of owning a Tesla" because I will argue that it is NOT.

Interesting video. I have a Model S. I’ve owned it for 5 years (original owner). I also don’t like the camera based wipers, but there is a software option that lets you operate them with standard intermittent capabilities. You might want to check and see if that is possible w the Y. Also I have patched multiple tires based on catching screws or nails. Tesla actually patched one for me several years ago. But for the past several years I have used other tire service companies and have never had an issue. Make sure they actually patch the tire, vs using a plug. As for the cost of a tire, performance tires are expensive, but you will get a better deal by buying them from someone other than Tesla. I have had my Model S for over 5 years, and it has been a great experience, so far. I still have 1.5 years left on the extended warranty or 100,000 miles whichever comes first. I would add one more high note that I didn’t hear mentioned - safety. The car exceeds the max safety rating, that is for all models. Look up the accident that happened when a Tesla went off a windy road in California that borders the ocean, fell 250 ft and landed on the rocks. Everyone survived. I respect your opinion and am sorry for your experience, but thankfully your experience is not the norm.

Yes I drive a modern Y and it's the smoothest car I've ever driven. Not sure why she says highway long trips are rough, no Tesla owners think so.

When you talk about car safety in terms of accident rates or survivability, you need to take into account that Teslas are expensive, limiting their use to owners who are well off - such people have less accidents and survive better because their wits are sharper, they consume less alcohol and drugs. When EVs become the dominant form of personal transport and they trickle down the used car market and get used by the dregs of society, the safety statistics will look a lot different. Teslas are at present making up only a small fraction of vehicles on the roads. When they become common enough for head on collisions or T-bones between Teslas or other EV's, each carrying one tonne of batteries at 100 km/hr to show up in the stats, it will be interesting to see what happens. Self driving cars are a very bad idea. It's no good saying the driver must remain alert and be ready to instantly take over at any time. If and when self-driving cars become common, people will loose their driving skills and be unable to usefully take over.

I don’t think she got it wrong. I’m on my 2nd S and every day I’m frustrated by the car. It started with awful sales experience with both cars, many mechanical issues, fit and finish of a cheap car and service that makes me scream. The supercharger network is the only reason I still drive a Tesla. They are not an aspirational car any more IMO. They are a less than average quality builder of cars. I look forward to many options in the coming years.

Not sure if anyone said this already. but you cant turn off Auto wipers while in auto pilot mode is on.

Your tire can be safely patched without fear of tire exploding, as long as the puncture is not near the sidewall. Sounds like you were talking with some misinformed service techs.

@@benjaminharrison1522 You don't know what you are talking about, people patch tesla's tires all the time without issues. The service center just doesn't patch, so they are going to sell you a new set of tires.

Thanks for your review. I was seriously considering trading in my current car, Nissan Ariya (It's also fully electric) and getting the Model Y but your video was an eye opener. It's making me rethink in getting a Tesla. I didn't realize how delicate Tesla cars are. I will continue researching it before I decide. Thanks again.
