Nice to see you provide a good home for your fish, but please remove the sea shells from your freshwater tank, as they will cause a chemical change to your water, and keep the roots of your plants exposed, as they will rot if you stick them in your gravel like that. Hope you don’t mind my saying! Lovely fish by the way!

@@MackenzieNoelle Yeah, it's the little things that really make a difference. XD Just wanted to say you should do a little research on cycling. One tip I have is *Don't feed blood worms*, they carry lots of things that can quickly kill your fish. I learnt that the hard way. 😭 Lovely betta btw. ♡

Anubias doesn't do well in gravel, it likes to be attached to wood and rocks. You can do so by using rubber band elastic or super glue or fishing line and tying the plant to whatever you attach it to :).

I love that you did your research and purchased all the things your betta needs to thrive. There’s so many videos of people picking out a betta fish and then just dumping them into a half gallon bowl with some sharp plastic plant and some neon gravel and saying “he loves it,” I can guarantee that they most definitely don’t. So kudos to you for giving your betta a proper good home.

You got a great tank it's awesome setup I recommend you get a little betta cave so your Betta can hide
@bingsu78246 жыл бұрын
Ok.. You can’t really plant anubias in your substrate. The rhizome would eventually rot thus you would get a dying plant. You could just attach your anubias with some sort of string or you could use super glue it to your driftwood, of course the wood has to be partially out of the water if you want to glue the plant.

Hey I just wanted to let you know that there's at least five other plants that you can use that won't croak., all of these plants enjoy having their Roots exposed. There's anubias, java fern, and I'm sorry I forgot the other three but if you check out beginner plants on KZbin you'll find some great plants that you can put in your tank. Java fern can be put in the back of the tank anubias usually likes to be on Driftwood or it's kind of hanging out on the bottom of the gravel usually I'll put some stones side the anubias to weigh it down. I'm an American living in Taiwan and all of my tanks are set up with basically Driftwood and anubias I also have betta caves that look like water jars they're made out of terracotta and they've got three holes so you can also stuff anubias and those as well but my bettas are pretty happy and healthy. All my tanks have filters they don't need heaters because Taiwan is so hot. If you find that your filter flow is too strong you can always put in an extra filter sponge where the water comes out it's perfect for keeping the flow low. Make sure that your filter has a sponge on the filter pipe because bettas like to rest on the filters. I don't know about America but usually when I buy bettas in Taiwan they have illness and so I usually give them a methane Blue for 7 days. This pretty much will get rid of anything if fungus velvet fin rot bacterial infections. Just follow the bottle according to the directions and don't use your filter. The reason why is because the medication will kill the good bacteria in your filter. After 7 days do a complete water change and I guarantee your fish will live. I had 14 bettas and I lost 7 after I figured this out I was able to keep 7 healthy bettas now. Definitely pick up some frozen bloodworms Krill and mosquito larvae and get anything related to Omega one Spectrum these are the best foods you can buy for your fish. Don't forget to do your 30% water change and usually at the end of two weeks when the water starts smelling funky I just do a complete water change. I acclimate fish for about 30 I put in good water conditioner and aquarium salt with aloe bettas are doing fantastic. Love your tank by the way=)

I understand your a veggie egg and I am too, if you get Anubis please do not root it :) try keeping the stem, up since that’s were there leaves grow from a dm they will rot if rooted ;) try to super glue it on your drift wood, it’s pretty easy, ( and try adding some hiding spaces it makes them less stressed and much more active and trustful of you)
@dawarrior765 жыл бұрын
I loved the attention you put into setting the little tank...but if I may suggest...I’d tell you to start the tank with ornaments put in during water filling...then let the tank run for 2 weeks simply throwing a couple of fish food pallets to start bacteria. Roots will start moulding a little as they soak up. Nonetheless nice betta and nice tank set up

@larrycung91316 жыл бұрын
If i were you, i would keep the plants in a seperate tank because they might carry snails which are very difficult to get rid of without emptying the entire fish tank. I would also get a light so you could see the betta better and the plants to grow because some plants may need specific lighting.
@MackenzieNoelle6 жыл бұрын
Larry Cung Thanks for your advice, but I've had these plants for many months now and so I know they're snail-free. :) I've been lighting the tank with a desk lamp until I can afford better lighting
@rosemary.-65766 жыл бұрын
Yeah, although in my personal experience the bettas eat the baby snails.
@kes96125 жыл бұрын
That specific brand of plant guarantees that they are free from pesticides, snails etc but specifically says snail free. Thats why they are so dang expensive. Literally they sell the ones the size of my pinky finger with about 6leaves (small size anubis nana sp?) for about 5bucks and the larger ones are almost 10 at my pet smart and i live in a state where the cost of living is relatively low compared to say a state like california etc so i cant even imagine how much pet co and petsmart retail these at in other places. I didnt even get but one root and starting off of my small one if i wanted it to look like anything more than a twig or provide my betta with any comfort (hiding resting etc) but luckily i dont have a huge tank or it would look even more odd. Even the large ones arent really all that big considering its the biggest they sale. Your correct though most plants need a light spectrum in tank and also the beta needs it as well (makes them more active-flare at themselves reflection) but should be turned off an equal amount. They need a hide to access at all times but especially when tank light is on. Also having a light in the tank and also using a flashlight on your betta can help you get the jump on some fast acting diseases that can consume or kill your fish before you even notice a problem. Need to be able to inspect and see all parts of your fish and familiar yourself with their markings/oddities in order to keep them in optimum health. If they are in a dark tank you can miss most diseases, parasites, fungus and its too far gone if your noticing a problem in a dim lit tank. If they have natural sunlight then you get algal growth so LED is a good alternative. Fin rot is so easily caught with a well lit tank and daily inspections upon feeding but rather impossible to spot in a unfamiliar fish in a dark tank .

omg I'm soooo moved. One of the first beginners who would do their research and do everything right. But do consider upgrading the heater though. I had one of the same one heater as you have, and its trash. Change to a 25-50 watt heater, I recommend the fluval, eheim, and the aqueon pro ones, not the aqueon submersible ones. And don't buy fish and plants at pet stores. They do not have good fish. I mean just look at where they put their fish, in that small container, so think about these.
