I’m an insider listener/subscriber who checked out after the election. I have difficulty consuming news right now. I believe that a lot of this avoidance is fear based. Fear of losing democracy, economic disaster, appointments of the least qualified and most subservient people to powerful positions, rule by oligarchs, etc. I found your interview with Adam to be very thought provoking and somehow calming. I will rewatch. The range of topics was pretty vast. Thanks for the video format, I really enjoyed seeing you both interact.

Currently listening to this episode and loved Preet's mention of people "tuning out" of the news - which is something I've been doing the last few weeks. But I still find myself able to listen to Preet and his guests because of the balanced and stable views that they bring (and loved a lot of Adams points and advice in this episode).

Preet! I'm a listener - I listen while I walk. But, good luck with the youtube page!

Also, when I'm perusing my list of pods for the day, anything an hour + is likely not to get listened to.

you look great, Preet. Now we get to see your eyes and how your face looks as you contemplate.

Listener since the beginning of Stay Tuned. 'Video' podcaster myself (small time, and shows also released in audio), but pro audio-video engineer/editor/producer/radio DJ since the 70s (now retired). So my take: Video is being promoted to audio podcasters all over lately. It's supposed to get you more exposure, more audience, and that's probably true. I like audio better, even though I'm a TV guy (I'm also a radio guy), unless there's some real visual content besides talking heads. But hey, cable news is 98% talking heads (and a few charts). For better or worse, video is the thing now. But, do you try to emulate cable TV (you've got lots of experience doing that, but with someone else setting up the video). Do you do the 'fly on the wall camera' look of a radio DJ? The 'podcaster' look (big mic in the shot, big headphones - you're halfway there 🙂)? Either way, do you try for better lighting, better background 'set' (podcaster 'room ratings' were a big thing a year or so ago). I was curious about the video as I began listening to this show's audio podcast, so I switched to KZbin. Initially, yes, you look self-conscious about the video, not sure where to look, etc. That'll smooth out. The mic's too high. The camera is probably too low, a little too close (as you look down, you're 'all forehead'). The background's a little too dark (I suggest a green screen, so you can have any background you want. Mine's a 'curtain' on a rod and I can roll it up when I'm not using it). Multipoint lighting is better than a single ring light - a little 'modeling' in your face, and a backlight for that little rim of light from behind. Jon Stewart has embraced the full 'podcaster' look (mic and headphones), but good lighting. The #SistersInLaw are audio holdouts... for how long? The show is edited (I prefer live), with 'on the nose' switching between speakers. Live TV has a little delay in switching to the next speaker. Are we all so used to that that it seems natural and 'right'? Editors have emulated that pacing forever now. But content is still king, and yours is at the top of the class. If video gets more audience (a bigger paycheck?), so be it. I'll probably stick to audio for 'portability' with my earbuds. Rock on.

Video is probably great for KZbin subscribers. Extra ads annoying; will probably mostly stick to audio. From a Cafe Insider subscriber. 🙏🏼 but it is nice to see y’all!

Checked out the video. Personally, I'm not a fan of basic talking heads. I'll probably stick to the podcast.

Oh - and then there's the repeated commercial messages interrupting incessantly. No thanks.

“God bless you”?!? Makes you sound too much like a politician. And it’s just plain weird.
