I was recently interviewed by a magazine (yay!) so I've already gotten the press. My question is: now what? How do I make the most of that interview across all my marketing efforts? I’ve tried before to do this but people don’t appreciate when the product is free and actually they were behaving like they were on a pedestal compared to me and even wanted me to pay them like a big brand… I think it’s a farò exchange to give your product for free plus free shipping.. in exchange of a post and story .. when it comes to small businesses

Hi Mei, thank you for this as I am in this boat now reaching out to influencers for my product. I have sent some emails out and now I am in the process of sending out follow-up emails to the ones I have not received a response from. I am curious in your opinion, if still not hearing anything back, how many follow-up emails do you suggest sending before giving up on the influencer? Last thing I wanna do is keep reaching out to them and spamming them or looking desperate if that makes sense. Thank you again for this video!
@CreativeHiveCo3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! I would suggest sending one follow up, and then if you still don't hear back, move on at least for now. You could circle back in say, 6 months if you're still interested in working with them. There are just some people you may never hear back from, though, so don't take it personally and keep pitching!

Thanks for making this video, Mei! Very helpful and encouraging. How could this work for sellers who want to work with influencers/media but have products that aren't especially low in cost to send out on a regular basis? 😬
@CreativeHiveCo Жыл бұрын
Hi Tiyana! If you sell expensive items, you can be selective with who you pitch your brand/products to. In picking the right influencer, you want to check their followers and engagement. You want to make sure that your ideal customers are hanging out in their space or social media accounts and are actively engaging with it. Please let me know if you have any further questions. 😊

Hi! Thank you for this very informative video and strategy! Has it ever happened that the person you pitched to, got your product but never featured it? If yes, how do you make sure that they feature your product?
@CreativeHiveCo3 жыл бұрын
This can happen, as people online are not always honest or as they seem to be. You should have some sort of agreement or contract ahead of time that lays out what is expected of both parties. Ideally, you should look for accounts that have a good amount of engagement with their audience so that you can see that they are a genuine person publishing to their account. In the end, though, you are taking a chance when you send something out because you just don't know how it will turn out.

Hi Mei, what type of bloggers ? Does it matter how many followers they have? Just worried about them not featuring the product and have to keep chasing them.
@CreativeHiveCo4 жыл бұрын
Any type of blogger works as long as their audience is the same people who would buy your stuff. I tend to avoid bloggers that just talk about everything, or who only talk about discounts and deals. Yes, it definitely matters the size of their audience as well as how engaged their audience is. The bigger and more engaged, the better your results will be. The following up with them is an inevitable part of the process. Most people I've worked with that are smaller to medium sized are very easy to work with. It's when you get really big and the person is super busy and doesn't always have time to feature the stuff she got for free when she has paid sponsored obligations to work on first. It's like any relationship or friendship you have. If you asked a friend or family member to do something for you, if they're super busy, they just won't get to it right away. It's not that they're doing that on purpose to hurt you, and it does help for you to remind them from time to time.

When you do pay to be featured, what is average payment for influencer?
@CreativeHiveCo4 жыл бұрын
Hi Shara-La, there are a lot of factors that go into working with influencers including their following and what type of media you are hoping to get out of the feature. I have a podcast episode on working with influencers that you might find helpful (also contains a transcript!) www.creativehiveco.com/3-working-instagram-influencers/ and there's also a video where I discuss this with the Brilliant Business Moms: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZCbZqiqi9doY68

Hi! I just discovered your channel, and I'm loving your content, I just have a question: I am brazilian, and live in Brazil. For me, reach people from other countries would be great, but I dont know if this geographic distance would be a turn off. I make embroidered customised pieces. Do you thing would be possible to reach out?
@CreativeHiveCo4 жыл бұрын
Yes of course! A lot of people love to shop products from different areas and support global makers. I would definitely not stop your location from you reaching out.

This is amazing! I am going to watch again and take notes. One question...how much inventory of a product do you suggest having before pitching?
@CreativeHiveCo3 жыл бұрын
Ideally you should be fully set up and ready to take orders. How much inventory that is will depend on what you sell and how long it takes you to produce. A lot of potters, for example, will do collections and do a shop update or a product drop with what they can get done, and when it's gone it's gone. On the other hand, you may be able to reproduce items easily and you don't have to have a large inventory on hand.

do you have any idea why I have really good art and pitched to at least 10-15 blogs and not even 1 response? I want to be better. Thanks.
@CreativeHiveCo4 жыл бұрын
Great question, Vincent! Without looking at your pitches, usually this is because the email subject line wasn't appealing or attention grabbing enough... so perhaps very few people opened your emails. It also depends on who you pitched to. If you pitched to really large blogs, there's a chance your pitch got buried under hundreds of other pitches. Not getting a response is rarely because they didn't like your product. It's just that you weren't able to get the bloggers attention. Following up multiple times after the initial pitch will help tremendously. And creating subject lines that encourage people to open your emails will help too!

hi mei, very informative video! thank you! do you have pixels on your website so you can re-market to them afterwards on FB? we're on etsy but don't have our website yet. my hesitation is that we don't have a site yet and we can't pixel people who visit us on etsy, and so i'm wasting the traffic that is going to be coming etc. that has been kind of stopping me from pitching so far. do you think we should have our site ready first, be able to pixel visitors, collect emails etc. before pitching? would love to hear your thoughts on this! thank you mei!
@CreativeHiveCo4 жыл бұрын
Yes!! That is EXACTLY what I recommend for both media outreach and Facebook pixel for paid Facebook ads. The ROI won't be as good if you do it all on Etsy but it'll be much better to have your own site!
@daphnelee87814 жыл бұрын
@@CreativeHiveCo thanks for getting back, mei! i hear ya. it's something that i've been wanting to do. but i know it's quite an undertaking. i feel like i'm wasting on the opportunity doing media outreach just because i don't have a site that can pixel people yet. in an ideal world i would like to have everything in place properly first. i was wondering if i'm just losing out on media opps just because i don't have a site yet. (which i know won't happen for a while, unfortunately).

This was really helpful. I am a henna artist and i sell henna inspired products online both on etsy and on my website www.PaintWithPurposeUS.com I have decided that I want to pitch my henna services to wedding planners in hopes of partnering with them to get more wedding gigs or to show my candle sets as beautiful centerpieces. I wonder if this method will work for pitching services. I am just starting my business and think that i’m just nervous.

I went to your tiny hands shop. Super cute and realistic but I definitely could never buy for myself. Every time I see realistic looking desserts I just want to go out and eat the real thing. I would swallow one of your necklaces whole. Just pop it right in my mouth and have no regrets.
